Great job! This video shows just the kind of fence I’m wanting to do for my yard. And the accents made my day🙂! I’m from Boston, proudly born & raised. And listening to them talk made me “wicked” home sick😔🥺❤️…
What's the point of the pressure treated in the bottom of the post? If you set the post into the concrete, wouldn't a hollow post filled with concrete be stronger?
Do we have to put cement for fence posts? Can we do those steel things underneath the ground and put a four or five feet wood fence. And if we have to do 6 feet can we put those steel ones. I live in canada and we have lots of snow and frost.
His Boston accent is almost as strong as Rogiz'!! (Boston pronunciation) I'm from Boston originally and Rogiz' accent always makes my head spin. His is as strong as it gets. All I can say it at least it is authentic, unlike Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
the wooden insert in the bottom of the posts does nothing. Also the bottom rails are made so thin that they decided to install a steel insert to "make it stronger" . Go see that insert, it does not support even a 10 pound weight. But you can buy good strong rails. The sections did not have "picket channels", which attach the pickets to the post(any good pvc has them)
While fences on yardlines have to maintain a "regulated" height.. what about building secondary fences in our yards, are they also confined to regulations?
2 issues: It works better if you fill the post hole with cement to the TOP, then position the post. Also, the cement helps STOP the grass from growing around the post so it will be easier to trim grass with a weed eater without hitting the post with the blades or string.
What do you do if your backyard does not line up properly for a full fence and you have to cut in half or even smaller to put that last piece in? How do you do that? Cut fence somehow?
you do have to cut it. I am a fence installer. it is harder to cut and install premade panels versus ones that go together piece by piece. My last vinyl fence install was yesterday.
Augers kick so theyre not gonna use it near his deck or the neighbors fence. Those corners need to be hand dug but the rest I’m sure they used an auger. They probably wanna show a home owner can easily do it. Even with the rocks a good 2 man auger would rip threw them.
I’ve had a vinyl fence installed 17 years ago. Power wash every couple years b/c of tree above and it looks like new. I am getting a couple of post starting to lean a bit. Yous guys have any tips or videos on straightening vinyl fence posts? Or do I need to dig them out starts over? Thanks.
It's alot easier and faster to dry pour the concrete around the posts finish the fence then go back and double check that they're level then add water.
That's the worst way to set a post. You need to dig a hole below your frost line in most cases, fill it with premixed concrete and drive the post into place. What do I know, I have only installed and sold vinyl fence for 27 years.
I watched a vinyl fence get installed at my neighbors house and didn't see them insert any wood or aluminum inserts in the posts. Hmm. I better ask questions if I ever decide to have this done and make sure it is written in the contract.
I'd like to know what brand of fence did they use. Because the panels being sold at Lowe's like that don't slide into the post as in this video, but cheaply screw into the post where connection is. Was even looking for this brand because of the top long cap along the top of panel and the bar that slides into the bottom of panel to keep it secure and won't sag
Maybe someone can tell me, my back yard isn't leveled. it's a slope higher at top then lower as it goes away from house. how can I NOT have the stair step look when installing my vinyl fence?
Sadly it can be necessary in certain areas, simply because of the wind. Unless you port a full privacy fence with enough holes, a good constant gusts will tear it down. These allow the wind to pass through which is convenient for many that experience hurricane and tornado level storms. That said I went through the extra effort to fabricate the previously mentioned ports in my fence, and have a gate that can latch shut to cover them. Just requires going out in the storm to open them all which is a pain in the rear.
Concrte isnt needed, and if you do, put it in the hole first and allow to dry, then level the post and fill with dirt, then set the vinyl , the reason for this is that the ground will shift , and if you can move the post you can have a straight fence again
Frank maybe you can tell me, my back yard isn't leveled. it's a slope higher at top the lower as it goes away from house. how can I NOT have the stair step look when installing
Did you wait for that first post to set before you put on the first panel? And did you continue to wait for each post to set before moving on the the next panel/post?
I had a fence installed and they did the same thing. Just kept going down the row attaching boards to the posts without the concrete being set. Looks great.
What about elevation changes? I can't see this working on even the slightest change beyond flat ground. You can't tilt panels up or down, or stagger them up or down a hill. Am I right?
Depending on the style/ configuration of the vinyl fence they can absolutely be installed on slopes. I've installed 10's of thousands of feet of these fences ...
Ive had to do a lot of post holes. Why don't they make a digger that has bent handles at the top instead of straight where you bang your knuckles?? I'm a genius
I don't think it will last against strong typhoons in the Philippines. It will fall somehow though u can still re-erect but another strong will fall it again and again.
That's a great question. I know that I had that worry with trimming grass along side of it, so I'm going to place white rock along it inside and out. But vandalism I'm sure if someone wanted to take a knife or rock at it...
3 days to complete that? My crew of 3 and myself would of finished that in approximately 8-10 hours. I hope those holes are 36”-42” Roger looked a bit sluggish there with his diggers.
Nice work love these vids. That would be a $7000.00+ USD job where I live in the NY metro burbs. What brand of fence was used. My contractor used the cheaper stuff in the comparison.
If the old wooden fence was on the property line and they installed the new fence in its spot why did they take it down? They made it sound that because it was on the property line they had to take it down
Where's the step where you ensure the first two gate posts are the exact same height? A 30" hole with a couple shovels of concrete in the bottom before inserting the post is not an accurate measurement ensuring uniformity.
My only problem with this video is that the privacy fence is already up. This "privacy fence" is a waist high gate. Not very private when anyone over five foot can see over the top of it.

I like these type of fences. The wooden fence looks good for 1 year then it became to like rotted popsicle sticks.

I'm so envious of people who can dig with post hole diggers..
My yard is pretty much a sheet of giant rocks with two inches of dirt over
I love the rock-free soil of south New Jersey. I can auger 20-30 holes an hour.
We have rocks in our yard I'll just use a jackhammer to dig a hole
What is the brand of the vinyl fence that was used in this video? Thanks.
This is genious! Have the homeowner do the work, charge them for "installing and labor" then upload it to UA-cam to make money off of that.
lmao
When on TOH you pay for the materials and all labor and installation charges are paid for by the show.
Why didn't they use a corner post lol
The Reformed Times 😂👍
Most of you are probably on food stamps laughing at a home owner
How did they install the gate? They skipped over that whole part.
It's self installing
Should the aluminum insert be as long as the vinyl post? Doesn't aluminum react with concrete if the post and insert are set in concrete?

Yes it does but it should be fine

Use a chain saw though. It’s a heck of a lot cleaner, nicer and faster method to complete task
Just had a vinyl fence installed. They had to use a Bobcat auger and a jackhammer to get the he holes deep enough.
Use a string line to make sure it's parallel, and then mock where the post will go.
Great job !! How much did a fence this long cost the home owner?

Do they have an auger ordinance there? All that post hole digging by hand...

When you’re looking at the posts that are leaning, you lean in the opposite direction and they will look straight again.

your work very beautiful! where can i buy this type of fence? thank you
Love Roger and co. But isn't vinyl fencing basically crap?
Wooden pressure treated post will rot over time especially when set in concrete. Need metal inserts instead of pressure treated wood for it to last.
Never get semi-private because they can see you, but you can't see them.
ARCTIC TOWER until you realize it’s just a gate 4 foot tall?
So if u were to install it backwards it would be vice versa would it not?
Sadly it can be necessary in certain areas, simply because of the wind. Unless you port a full privacy fence with enough holes, a good constant gusts will tear it down. These allow the wind to pass through which is convenient for many that experience hurricane and tornado level storms.

Why only dig 30in? Shouldn't the posts go below the frost line? I assume this is in the northeast. Most frost lines are at least 4ft.
3 inches in... "we gotta get these down 30 inches," huffing and puffing "THIRTY inches?"

better use brackets and make sure you have long enough screws to go well into wooden post inside vinyl post

How long do you have to wait to set up each panel. After pouring concrete in the post?
That is for a gate. In the video they are putting up each panel right after they set up the post with concrete for the 6 foot privacy fence

I prefer Wooden fences more. Looks So much better then Ugly Vinyl fences
so who owns that 1-2 feet of property in between the fences?
No man's land, the bums sleep there
I was thinking the same thing. And who is responsible for clearing the weeds and grass?
those screws were never mentioned in any other videos nor were they mention in the manufacturers instructions.
