I caught a stingray awhile back at SLP. Just learned that they are related to sharks and if you turn them over, they will fall sleep. Gave it a try and it worked. Retrieved my lure easily and let him go. It was really 😎 !!
@RX Angler hope you see this. I've got the 120 Autopilot. I'm using a Malone wide track cart. What cart are you using and are you having any trouble keeping the cart in place when lifting the yak onto the cart. Again any input would be appreciated. Thank you.
New sub from way up in the TX. Panhandle, accustom to watching catfishing and bass and crappie. So I thought I would try something diff. You and MDLR and Beach Bomber are my favs now. Like the diff. fish y'all are catching. I'm 69+ and am getting an education on these coastal fish. Thanks for sharing your time. Kirk n TX.
here is my question. What if you run into weed or run into debris that you did not see? Basically is it durable because props, like anything else will break if you hit something or weed tangles your prop.
How did you feel in the rougher water? You mentioned scary...I am thinking about a autopilot 136 for fishing passes and bridges. It seems like this would be perfect with spotlock. I have a paddleboard for skinny flats. But also think I could use the 136 and push pole around. A guy I fish with has s PA14 360 and thinks that's a better option. Also what size battery are you using? 100ah?
Thanks for your videos and your unbiased and truthful reviews. I have noticed two issues with the Old Town 120 Motorized Kayak, the first one is weight. Its very heavy to move around and second, the battery discharge is a handicap because you can potentially run out of power in the middle of your trip(specially if the angler weights over 225 lbs because weight affects performance and battery charge. It would be a chore to have to paddle back against the wind in a kayak that was not meant to be paddled. Would I be better served with a 2020 Hobie Outback or a Pro Angler kayak? Please advise. Thank you.
Having to depend on a battery is a weakness of this boat. But, if you invest in a high quality lithium battery, there a good chance you will never use all the power on a full day of fishing. If your concerned about that then a peddle drive kayak will be better served.
back in 2010ish I had SKATE (sting ray?) FILLET at a $$$-$$$$ restaurant in Dallas, (Charlie Palmer ) and it was great. made to understand Cow nose Sting Rays are tasty ???? yes I know the general concensus is BAIT....... great video, nice drone footage....
Highly considering that same kayak. Curious on the battery. Which one do you have? How long will it last on the water on average? And what do you use to charge it? Thanks!
Nick what kind of drone are you using the video your fishing experiences? And are you fishing in Louisiana and Texas? Thanks for the outstanding videos
No, no tandem for the sportsman models. However, if you could do without built in spot lock, you could get a tandem kayak and put your own motor on it, including a model with spot lock.
i would suggest you call old town and see what they can do for you. also, if you click on the link it will direct you straight to old town where you can find dealers around your area.
Looks like you're enjoying that yak. On those rays you did good by laying it against the side of the kayak but they can still hit you in that position. If you flip them over so the top side is against the kayak the stinger can't get you or at least has a much less chance of getting you.
HuntN and artificials are more fun. Great sceneries from my couch! Been a Minn Kota iPilot guys for more than a decade. I am spoiled and don't fish without one. 😁
You got that early winter grind in the book. Now try the south jetty please. 🔥
Nick deep channels with ships around I would stay out of with kayak. Enjoyed the game plan change.
Do you think the kayak could handle an inlet at the middle of a tide when its ripping?
I launch from the coast guard ramp right next to where you launch. It just came to my mind when I saw the ramp

Wow! Great info! Thanks for that.

I use the same cart. No problems since I make sure the cart is securely tightened down with the cart straps.

Thanks!
Nick I enjoy all your videos, the first part of this one had me scared for you, maybe you should stick to the Backwater in that kayak.
Do you rent these things out or do you own all these kayaks? Either way awesome video!
...tough day Nick...but you stuck with it...and I enjoyed the video...thanks for posting...:)
Awesome video. It's always good to get into a few flatfish, even if they are on the short side of the tape.

First time I fished the marsh near Goat Island a tug sicked the water out of the marsh which was a little scary at first.
Any issue when the motor hits something underwater?
No, not yet. Everything is good so far. Obviously, you want to avoid hitting things on the water with your motor.
I am a hard core guy! Great channel. Just waiting for rain to show up here in North Missouri

Did you change to a deep cycle battery?

I'm thinking I might have to get a trolling motor for my Hobie
👌
Hello my friend how much is it to be shipped to England and is there a 2 setter

Good point! I don’t plan on catching any more rays lol
