The Beatles - Let It Be - Single Version - Guitar Solo Cover

- George’s mellow Leslie guitar solo from the single version of “Let It Be”! I cut together all the guitar bits from the original recording for a condensed version of the song for this cover. Also included in this cover is the guitar tone from my 1967 Leslie speaker!
The Beatles recorded the basic track of “Let It Be” on January 31, 1969. The chosen recording, Take 27, underwent a few overdubs before release. George decided to re-record his guitar, and on April 30, 1969, he recorded a Leslie speaker guitar part, similar to the original take 27 version. This guitar ended up on the single version release of “Let It Be” and that which is covered in this video. When polishing the tapes for the “Let It Be” album in early 1970, George decided to record his lead guitar yet again. This version, recorded on January 4, 1970 featured a stinging solo, a brief guitar riff during a verse, and further lead guitar at the end of the song. This overdub solo was included on the album version of “Let It Be”. You can see my cover of the album version here: • The Beatles - Let It B...
Interestingly, the album version’s guitar part can be distinctly heard during the verse riff and ending solo. Perhaps Phil Spector deemed it appropriate to keep in? George’s Leslie overdub ending solo is very quiet in the single version mix. This lack of presence is not helped by his relatively soft playing during this part of the song. The ending solo is much clearer on the Glyn Johns Mix version of “Let It Be”, which can be found on the Let It Be (Super Deluxe) album.
In the single version, George includes a few phrases that he does not in the album version. He highlights the walkdown section that preempts the guitar solo (0:00). In contrast, he only includes the last bit of emphasis on the walkdown that closes the song (0:58). As for the Leslie speaker settings, the speed is on slow for all parts of the song except the solo, which is switched to fast for a more dynamic sound.
Instruments Used:
George Harrison Guitar: 2016 Fender American Standard Telecaster
Amplifier: Fender Custom Vibrolux Reverb (1995)
Speaker: 1967 Leslie 16
Which do you prefer, the album or single version of "Let It Be"?

Honestly I liked both versions. Even though the general consensus is that the album version is better, I usually find myself preferring this version. I personally thought the softer solo was better suited for a somewhat melancholy song.
I like the single version, Leslie speaker is a dope effect
Easily the album version for me.
single
Are you going to do the original ‘ghost’ solo too?
This has to be the shortest amount of time between uploads in mattibo history.
All though I prefer the album version, I love all of the solos.
it was lennon in fact!
Yeah, sounds more powerfull
@@jaimebricenodearagon7167 not true lol 🤣
@@jaimebricenodearagon7167 What? Don't be daft.
I've always enjoyed the single version more, I feel it suits the song better. I may be biased though since I can kinda actually play this one lol... Nice work as always Mattiboo
YES! So happy that you've done this version. It sounds tender and understanding, rather than distorted and brash. It elevates the song to a more elegiac, universal level. A prime of example of the old "less is more" idiom...
Love that guitar tone from your Vintage 1967 Leslie Model 16 speaker cabinet. I can feel that air moving around me!
Of course you are doing all the versions of this solo. Don't even know why I'm surprised by that to be honest lol. Your a genius and incredible Mattiboo.
Best version! The only solo that really fits the nostalgic vibe of the song.
I prefer this over the album version. It fits the song more. Also it's fun playing this in acoustic!
I love this solo!
Amazing work brother… I have just found your channel looking up a guitar lesson for Here, There, and Everywhere and your lesson from 7 years ago showed up - It’s incredible to see how much progress you have made and how deep you have dove into their incredible music!! Cheers from a fellow 25 year old Beatlemaniac from Texas.😄👏🏽
My favorite version is the one with the guitar.
I'm loving this little format here! I think most of us here would prefer shorter videos, but posted more often of, for example, solos only.
I like the concept. Mattiboo shorts
Really love that tone
Beautiful
What a Cover!! Can you please give some tips of getting this vintage tone??
I was waiting for this version
I’ve learnt to play some Beatles songs by watching your videos thank you for making it so accurate

He's BAAAAACK again, like a tobey maguire!!!!
Are you also planning on doing the Take 27B solo from the Let It Be movie?
Hey it would be great a video where you show all your guitars and also the bass guitars

Fantastic upload my friend, really nice. Superlikeee¡¡¡¡¡ and have a merry Christmas: Javier
Can you please do "Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except For Me And My Monkey"? I've been trying to play this for months but no one really knows how because George's lead guitar is so varied. Thanks.
😎
No way, I watch your videos all the time

Rad my fella ☢️
Very well done. Can we see a cover of the version from Let It Be Naked?
I always preferred the single version to the album version.
Nice men
Can you please go over the beatles’ version of Harry Lime theme maybe? Would be very cool
If you keep this frequence would be lovely 🥰😍
🎸
Cuál es el efecto de guitarra ? Feliz Navidad!!!
please dear prudence
Nice Tele
I prefer the singles version of the solo
You have a real Leslie speaker?? Awesome cover!
Yes I do! Recently had it tuned up, so the rotation noise is the quietest its ever been while in my possession. Sounds absolutely fantastic in the room!
@@mattiboo sounds amazing! How do you mic it? In stereo?
The Beatles seem to have only mic'ed their Leslie speakers in mono, so I placed a single condenser microphone about 3 inches away from the side of my Leslie 16 cabinet for this video. It does sound very good in stereo as well!
Two of the biggest beatles cover channels together
@@mattiboo how did you set up your pedal to get that sound ?
Wtf you got a real Leslie for this goddamn
Do Anthology version!
I mean, I won't dispute how great this solo is, but I will always prefer the album version.
This one's too quiet and ethereal.
Please do it in acoustic
Mattiboo, Can you reupload your blocked videos like rythym guitar of till there was you and this boy, and Guitar Cover of Can't buy me love plz?
@Mattiboo - long time subscriber here. How is it that the color of the wall behind you changes so dramatically? You can't make up your mind on paint color? You're also a crazed painter? Or...?
Only painted the wall once back in 2017 from the tan color to blue! The blue shade may vary depending on lighting.
I've been desperately waiting for Naked Version for 5 months :(
Can you do AYNIL please?
E la tabs dove sta?
1:1. Perfect. Same like george playing.
Yesterday Cover?
I always thought the sound you got was an effect pedal of something. So it’s the amp?
It is the speaker cabinet! A Leslie speaker is a rotating speaker which uses the Doppler effect to create periodic variations in pitch and volume, as can be heard here.
So I’ve been following you for a little bit and I’m wondering why you never tackled “strawberry fields forever”? Surely it couldn’t be due to complexity since you did songs like “Helter Skelter” and “A Day In The Life” perfectly. Love the videos by the way, hope to see more from you!!
Thanks! Just haven't gotten around to "Strawberry" yet!
Can you tell me amp setting?
Moro mitä Matille kuuluu
I always played the album version of the solo.
Can you cover dig it?
How tf do you get this tone?
mattiboo are you italian ??
Hola wapo
C major pentatonic?
Yes!
Please make a video with the LIB Naked version too pleqse
When will you do a face reveal and show off your whole guitar collection?
