Come on an inside shop tour with Racetec Pistons in Huntington Beach CA. Watch some of the highest quality engineering & manufacturing processes in all of motorsports.
Great product, very good quality parts. We've used them often when clients who previously bought their parts and brought them to our shop for machine and assembly work. I spoke with a gentlemen from Racetec at the PRI show in Indianapolis to inquire about dealing direct with their company.
I spoke with my engine builder Kelly from WFO racing, from Street Outlaws No Prep Kings.... He says these are the best out there, other than billet $$$$. We will order my set Monday.
8:54 "inspection" means seeing that numbers and names are printed. Actual inspection would be to show us material quality inspection (porosity, cracks, etc)
The machine shop doing my build recomended racetec for my pistons. So we ordered them on Feb 11th 2016. We were told 1.5 to three weeks for delivery. Just recieved them last week, 10 WEEKS LATER. Three weeks ago I started calling them inquiring as to the status. Tim and Randy whom I spoke with assured me each time they were going through inspection. That would be on monday, on Friday I would call back to see if they had been shipped. Got the run around each time, both guys claiming they needed to check with the shop and would call me back to advise. Never recieved one call back. Very frustrating to work with. The motor goes in daily driver and I had to rent a car for 7 weeks while i waited on this place. I had ligned up a ride for only the first 5 weeks. Cant say if its a good product yet as the rebuild is not done, irregaurdless, i will never recomend or use Race tec again. They made no effort and seemed to care less about the customer.
You have to understand that February is a VERY busy time for parts manufacturers as the racing season has either begun or is just around the corner. Special oider ANY part about that time and you'll likely see delays... been there many times. You should have ordered the parts before you tore down the engine... hope they worked well for you.
MrShobar i feel it too bro,im a glasses user too, when im in "really god damn focus" i make the same face, too lazy to adjust my glasses, but need a higher position...yep just lift it with your nose.....aaannnddd you got that high tech face
+Mark Rich I deal with Racetec and I asked them your question. Think of the process as an assembly line. Its runs faster with more machines and personal.
+Rick H Dont get me wrong I know every one on youtube is a self proclaimed expert. I was asking more because I was curious. I work on a five axis doosan hp4400 horizontal at work but my company is mostly into the aircraft industry. Ive always been taught the less interaction a human has with making a part the more accurate itll be . None the less thank you for the video I enjoy watching stuff like this.
What can you pistons handle? Cause my builder is trying to sell me these and I’m sorry new to then but never herd of y’all, I told him I wanted diamond or JE
APP supplies forgings internationally/globally, however most APP forged products are forged in the USA using spec raw materials mostly domestically produced by ALCOA. APP is a major supplier of forged components for many if not most motorsports manufacturers including Koenigsegg and are an approved and preferred supplier for every major or prime aerospace, government and military manufacturer on the planet, their quality is unrivaled.
1:21 .... "dont blow the air unless we tell you alex". Let the man do his job, if i had deadlines to meet, screw your interuptions for filming during normal working hours.
Not necessarily, the only time that is required is if you're starting with a really beat engine or after a catastrophic failure. You really want the pistons before you have the cylinders machined so that you dont have any issues with parts not fitting.
I don't do coke. I play classical guitar. Plus I have a heart condition that would not allow me to. Otherwise I would say. Let's Party. Thank you for watching. LOL!

THIS GUY'S BEARD WAS DONE ON THE 5 AXIS CNC I RECKON... GREAT PISTONS BY THE LOOK...

Very nice setup. Enjoyed the video. I can still remember doing the machining on manual mills Again good video
An excellent-looking plant generating a fine product. Many thanks.
Very informative video. Thanks!
Fine! - great work !
Nice I will have a set within 2 weeks
Nice video Guys!

VERY VERY GENIUS BRO
I have a set of Race Tec pistons in my Keith Craft 347 build. So if Keith likes them they must be pretty good.
is the machine that does the cam turn a special machine or just a regular CNC lathe?

Do you make pistons for a 1916 Indian 61 cu Powerplus engine
With all the stuff they do one would think that it is another incarnation of Heisenberg !!!
Nice
I think the most advanced of the technology is the face in 1:31 really high tech.....
Made my day :DD
+Dzul Harel He's gainfully employed in a skilled trade. Too bad you can't admit the same.

Just let Alex do his job and let him spray the air as needed. ;)
I think the most advanced of the technology is this guys beard...
Tom Suica LMAO!! Thanks for the laughter.
Good alat ukurnya sangat presisi
itu alat ukuranya masih manual dan masih pake yg analog, lebih presisi lagi yg alat ukurnya pake digital.
Yes yes
bangkit alfitri no no
Hopefully the pistons have more consistency than the audio has. Yikes.
Great shop , why so many operations? This is really were a good cad cam system pays off

Its not actually so many operations...
"Don't blow the air unless we tell you, Alex" says the dude with the weird beard in pajama pants.

The owner of ractec used to own JE if that says anything lol
did the operator load the cnc machine for the presenters facial hair too?
They did not have a fixture big enough for my head so I went with the manual trimmers. That why it looks crooked. LOL!
Where do the forgings come from?
don´t you see the names on ALL those boxes in the beginning!
I mean country of origin, app makes stuff overseas too

LOL! Don't worry Alex and I had Tequila shots between takes and were talking shit to each other before the camera started up again!
@@mikecallahan4499 Tequila and CNC machines.. great pairing..
@@randyobert2218 Actually the machines were doing the shots!
That was 3 years ago, today Alex will have 10% hearing loss and won't really understand the request if it were made again.
I am no engine expert but I am pretty sure you have to have the engine tore to know what size piston to have them make.
Not necessarily, the only time that is required is if you're starting with a really beat engine or after a catastrophic failure. You really want the pistons before you have the cylinders machined so that you dont have any issues with parts not fitting.
i bet he cnc's his beard too

7:30 homie needs to trim his coke nails

What kind of a beard is that? LOL!
szaki Satan beard.
I trim it myself so it's a bit faulty. LOL!
Man that beard is nasty
did not see much detailed machining..you should learn how to make a video.
You think they're going to share exactly what they do to make their product?
@@wesp7357 it is a service video..and they left the most important part of the rebuild.which makes it a useless video.
Its a general overview of what they do lol. It sounds like you're expecting to get shown how to make a piston from start to finish
