Man, I wish I had an ounce of your talent. I can never get my weathering/wear and tear to come out right. I love the way you get your wheels washed. Mine comes out aweful. Not to mention your color choices! Wow! Hats off to you on all your builds!
YES YES YES YES.... I have 2 of this kit and haven't opened it yet. The GTX doesn't get the credit it deserves because it's not a cuda, charger, or challenger but these things equipped with the correct factory parts were absolute BEAST. THANK YOU
Just wanted to say Thank you for your videos, in my opinion they are the absolute best model building videos out there. You give great tips and you address known and unknown problems, the biggest part you address is that it doesn't have to be perfect because it's yours to make it whatever. And 1 of the biggest reason I love your video are there is no politics and your are having fun
Hey Chris, I know this build was a year ago but it popped up when I did a 1969 GTX search. I got this kit September 2021 and it’s my next build. The last couple builds I’ve done have had some engine compartment details, ect. After watching your easy going build of this kit I decided to take it easy and build this kit the HPI guy way. Just wanted to thank you for encouraging all us model builders to “build it how we want it” 👍👍😎😎
Wonderful color I don’t know if you know this or not but on your flat black parts if you’re going for a dark metal look take some powdered graphite on a cotton swab a rub it on the part you want that metal look it works incredibly well. Thanks for another awesome build.
That purple metallic is spectacular, highlighted by your choice of a white stripe. Enjoyed tour discussion of overspray on the chassis. Make your model tell a story!
Awesome job, love the color Thank you for sharing. I wanted to give a shout out to the person whom gave the idea for sanding the tires, Genius.... Thank you. Keep building everyone and remember to keep smiling and have fun. Keep yourself, family, and friends safe and healthy.
Wow lookin sharp,we ran mopars in pekin il.and hung out with our mopars, this car reminds me of some of them back then.cool build lots of detail.thanks
Really been enjoying your model assembly videos. You have struck a very good balance between speed and fidelity. Never thought rattle cans could look so good. Thank you for providing great content during lockdown-2020. 👍😁
Thanks for showing the 69 g t x.I have the same model.I bought 30 years ago.not built yet.it will be the same color blue.when I build it also.thanks for the build.I'm still working on my 69 g t x .convertible.not finished yet.it's blue also.
Real nice build, I like that it is a pro street. Would have looked good with a matte black hood too and some white shoe polish numbers on the windshield for the car number and et. Guess Ill have to get one and try a build of my own now. I really like your evidence of the original paint color, good call there. Enjoyed the video a lot, thanks for sharing it. Be well.
I built the dirty donnies version years back. It had the experimental dual overhead cam cylinder heads. Looks like I'll be building another gtx. As always beautiful work!
Why am I Thirsty For Grape juice 🤔🤔 LOL, It's Another Masterpiece of Mighty Mopar Muscle AND 1 More Kit I Gotta Get !! Thanks For Sharing Sir, Stay Safe n Healthy n God Bless You and All Yours.
Your videos are the best! This kit brings back a lot of memories. My best friend had the same car in high school, except his was grey primer and had a highly modified 440 magnum! I can still smell the burnt rubber! 😎🤘☠️
Hi Chris, this build came out looking fantastic! I bought two car kits so far and will be starting on them when the aircraft kit I'm working on is done. Again great job! Thanks stay safe.
Really nice build there Chris, luv the color but luv that year even more buddy! Any car made in 69 is a beast... Thanks for sharing and I will have this car real soon. Also thanks for being so positive people really need to hear that at this time in life. God bless...
Hi Chris l was looking forward to this one.l still have my original one from the late 80 s.I liked how this one was designed just for pro stock with those awesome rear tires. Your version turned out really nice and thanks again Chris
I enjoyed watching this one. I've got bits and pieces of those 68/69 plymouth kits in my parts that I've collected over the years. Looks like I have enough to build one now without having to buy a new kit.just use what I already have..Im starting with a 1/25th 69 gtx convertible body that I just converted to a hard top using a roof I cut off a parts 1/24th 70 roadrunner body shell. I cut/scaled it down to fit and will make it look like a vinyl top instead to bend it in better at the cut and splice lines. Thinking about just building it as the sage green version of yours before the guy painted it.
Pretty. I have the stock version of that GTX when AMT was an ERTL property. I hope it's in a similar shape to this, 'cuz we all know that Round2 had to fix and clean LOTS of the molds.
Hello sir. Thank you for all your great vids. They inspire me and I have really learned alot. I dont want to seem like a jerk but that is a chrome electric fan. m sure you figured that out. Only reason I know is because I just built a similar kit. Please keep posting the reviews and please post some new tech info.
Nice build as usual. I like your "get down to business" style of building. And an aside........I was secretly hoping this kit would have had the "Cammer" Hemi option that was in the Coronet Pro Street kit. I was assuming they just changed body between kits.
Another killer build and the purple metallic is the chef's kiss of paint choice for any GTX. Modelers, take note: leave off-white basecoat for 2019 Toyota Corollas, not classic Detroit muscle.
You can use any color primer you like, depending on how you want the finished paint coat to look. For example, black can add depth to metallic, pearl or iridescent colors, such that a lot of model manufacturers use black plastic as the basis of their chrome parts, because it makes the chrome really 'pop'. Also, as Chris notes, black primer is great at providing shadow effects on engine parts and interiors. Essentially, have fun and experiment on spare parts to find out how various primer and top coat combinations work, because there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to deciding how you want your model to look.
This has been encouraging for me!! I have an AMT 70 supeebee that's almost identical I'm actually painting it plumb crazy also!! I like that you make a story for each too !! Keep it up!!
Its nice to 👀 other model collectors out there.that watch.at least modeling is still out there.some Wal-Mart's do sell model cars &trucks.during this viras thing.take care ❤ 4-26-20
I love these B-Body Mopar kits. Somewhere in my pile is the AMT '70 Superbee pro street kit with the pieces to do the A925 hemi. I can't decide whether to do it like this, or as a phantom stocker. What a cool build here, though.
Hi I'm Dave from NY. Love your show. Keep up the awesome work. A question that I have is when glueing the chrome parts. Do you scrap off the chrome for adhesion. I'm a minimal builder. Have about 50 to 60 kits in my collection. Retirement fun. I have a double kit with 2 dragsters don the snake perhdonme. Funny car and top fuel. Have you ever seen one . I may possibly be able to get some pics of it. Anyway. Love the channel 😍 . Thank you. Dave

I remember building the '68 Roadrunner version of this kit as a kid in the 90's. Was my favorite build. Cool trip down memory lane
Thanks!
Wonderful color

Thanks for another awesome build.
Yup, using that on a figure build right now.
That purple metallic is spectacular, highlighted by your choice of a white stripe.
Enjoyed tour discussion of overspray on the chassis. Make your model tell a story!
It's cool watching do painting etc on model so people can actually see how you put your models together and paint them it's cool
Thank you!
I liked this build so much, I went and bought 2 kits.
Cool!
Awesome job, love the color Thank you for sharing. I wanted to give a shout out to the person whom gave the idea for sanding the tires, Genius.... Thank you. Keep building everyone and remember to keep smiling and have fun. Keep yourself, family, and friends safe and healthy.
It was a great tip, I requested the best tip for tires on the FB page and was not disappointed!
Thank God the exhaust lines arent molded all the way back, thats a life saver
Chris thanks my friend for always giving us tips and tricks. When I came back to building I ran across your video and it was very helpful. Thx man
Sweet build love the gtx one of my favorite muscle cars
Same here!
Wow lookin sharp,we ran mopars in pekin il.and hung out with our mopars, this car reminds me of some of them back then.cool build lots of detail.thanks

Really nice GTX!...Keep the builds coming!
Thanks for watching!
This brings back some memories.. My dad had a 68 Road Runner which was kind of similar to this 69 GTX...
He bought it about a year after he finished his service in Vietnam...
I built the dirty donnies version years back. It had the experimental dual overhead cam cylinder heads. Looks like I'll be building another gtx. As always beautiful work!
Very cool!
Very nice car. I never tried work with 1/25 scale
You should!
Man your videos have helped me so much become a better modeler absolutely great videos Man keep up the great work

You and me both!
I enjoyed watching this one. I've got bits and pieces of those 68/69 plymouth kits in my parts that I've collected over the years. Rock on!
sweet old school muscle love the slicks.
Thanks!
Good build. Nice work with the detailing.
Glad you like it!
I built this kit in the 90s, won 1st place in pro street class at the yearly show. Recently picked this kit up, to recreate that build.
SOOO KOOOLLLLLL.
Awesome paint . Mike Espo..
Thank you!
Awesome looking GTX thanks for the show.
Any time!
Nice job Chris love the paint
Glad you like it!
Nice I built it back in the 90s they added parts to it and it was a 69 roadrunner minus the gtx trim both are great
Didn't have the custom gauge panel or the edelbrock air cleaners
Awesome job 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Pro street? More like pro- fairgrounds, then pro-barn. Lotsa those cars are coming out of storage now. You nailed it by calling it '90s.. nice work!
Thanks Rick!
That is really a nice color - thanks for the build.
Glad you like it!
Awsome build buddy....color fits the car....
I think so too!
Sweet build. It’s always a pleasure to watch the spray can master at work. And the stories top it off.
Glad you enjoyed it! More to come!
Sharp lookin’ streeter! I always enjoy your uploads - very pleasant and informative - tips and tricks I can use every time. Big thanks!
Awesome, thank you!
Awesome review & build .... Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
A big hunk of Detroit muscle. The color looks like Grape Crush. Stay safe Chris!
Thanks you too!
always fun to watch.
thanks for the car history
Glad you enjoyed it!
The Mopar guys will tell you the firewall, and inner wheel wells should be body color. LOL! Cool kit.
Yup, and if I was worried about a factory perfect day one restoration I'd do so. Thanks!
Pretty. I have the stock version of that GTX when AMT was an ERTL property. I hope it's in a similar shape to this, 'cuz we all know that Round2 had to fix and clean LOTS of the molds.
I hope so too
Nice job Chris. Love those muscular MOPARS.
Thanks 👍
Hello sir. Thank you for all your great vids. They inspire me and I have really learned alot. I dont want to seem like a jerk but that is a chrome electric fan. m sure you figured that out. Only reason I know is because I just built a similar kit. Please keep posting the reviews and please post some new tech info.
Yes that is covered in the video.
Looks like a mean street monster that would have been around back in the day! Awesome build!
Thanks!
Again this brings back memories of the 68 Road Runner my Dad had back in the day...
What is the ratio of simple green to water ,and why do you perfer rustolium to testures . Great video .
Check out my video on painting cars with cheap spray cans.
I used Testors in this very build. I use dozens of brands.
And you got quite the steady hand
Nice build as usual. I like your "get down to business" style of building. And an aside........I was secretly hoping this kit would have had the "Cammer" Hemi option that was in the Coronet Pro Street kit. I was assuming they just changed body between kits.
Cool, thanks!
Just found this build. Can you explain more about how to paint the wheels to give the realistic look? What flat clear did you spray them with.
Very nice color combination! Great job.
Glad you like it!
Awesome Mopar build Chris!! The color choice, decals and centerline wheels are sooooo 90's cool!! Very well done Chris!!
Glad you liked it!! Yup, those wheels and stripes were exactly what we'd see a lot of then!
A friend of mine had something very similar to Center Lines..Cragar Super Tricks that were gold and chrome on his V8 Vega.
Cool!
Another killer build and the purple metallic is the chef's kiss of paint choice for any GTX. Modelers, take note: leave off-white basecoat for 2019 Toyota Corollas, not classic Detroit muscle.
Thanks for watching!
Great choice of colour similar to plum crazy one of my favourite colours.👍👍
Mine too!
Can you use black prime on the body of the car?
You can use any color primer you like, depending on how you want the finished paint coat to look. For example, black can add depth to metallic, pearl or iridescent colors, such that a lot of model manufacturers use black plastic as the basis of their chrome parts, because it makes the chrome really 'pop'. Essentially, have fun and experiment on spare parts to find out how various primer and top coat combinations work, because there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to deciding how you want your model to look.
^ He's right.
You can certainly use black as a primer coat for a body depending on the effect you want.
Thanks guys. I have a model that I haven't built yet and I didn't want to ruin it. Would it look good if you did it on a lowrider though?
Centerlines were made by CENTERLINE the specific wheel name is Auto drag, the best selling wheels from the 70's till 2000's
This has been encouraging for me!! I have an AMT 70 supeebee that's almost identical I'm actually painting it plumb crazy also!! I like that you make a story for each too !! Keep it up!!
Go for it! Thanks!

Great color 👌 great build
Thank you! Cheers!
Love that paint job!!
Thanks!
Holy cow Chris ,too bad you live too far ,I would love to meet you and talk model kit,you got so much good idea
Thanks a lot!
The glue I really like is the Revell Practa Pro.
Whatever gets the job done!
That looks amazing, I really love the color. Keep up the great work and Rust In Peace.
Thanks Chopper!
😎 metalflake paint job!
Nice GTX Chris and a great lookin build looks like a decent kit by AMT
Thanks 👍
A lot of nicely detailed parts with this kit too!!
I love these B-Body Mopar kits. Somewhere in my pile is the AMT '70 Superbee pro street kit with the pieces to do the A925 hemi. I can't decide whether to do it like this, or as a phantom stocker. What a cool build here, though.
Awesome looking build Chris, great job, love the color. Rick
Thanks a bunch!
Gotta love simple green. You can use it to degrease and engine and then do some laundry with it. It has so many uses.
Right!
Super cool!!! Great work as always!!
Thanks again!
Beautiful model!
Thank you! Cheers!
I understand if you use Molotow chrome a clean finish will dull it.
Thoughts on this ? Thanks
Floor polish doesn't, can't say whether spray clears do but I think they would, they dull regular chrome too.
@@hpiguy ok
Hi I'm Dave from NY. Love your show. Keep up the awesome work. A question that I have is when glueing the chrome parts. Do you scrap off the chrome for adhesion. I'm a minimal builder. Have about 50 to 60 kits in my collection. Retirement fun. I have a double kit with 2 dragsters don the snake perhdonme. Funny car and top fuel. Have you ever seen one . I may possibly be able to get some pics of it. Anyway. Love the channel 😍 . Thank you. Dave
Thanks for watching!
I'm sure the kits were sold as a set in the past, that was common.
Good looking car Chris love the color choice, just another model I have to get 👍
Go for it!
Awesome work! I'm doing a GTX convertible from Amt, any idea what the 2 stick looking parts next to the radiator are?
Thanks!
No idea on the parts.
Great build; can you apply the decals over the enamel? Do you polish the paint before decals? What clear do you like over the decals? Thanks
See my video on painting with cheap spray cans for answers on that. Thanks!
Keep up the great work on the models you build. I hope you and your family are doing well.
Thanks, you too!
Very nice looking build
Thank you kindly!
A very 😎 looking build!..
Thanks Thomas, as always!
Great build, nice review of the kit. Wonderful color choice.
Thank you kindly!
17:13 what is that thing that holds car bodies while he's painting? Where can I get one? Helllllp!
It is part of the Tamiya Painting Stand Set. It comes with the bigger round stand that he was using when he was priming the seats/steering wheel. I ordered mine through a local model shop but I’m pretty sure you could get one online (just look up Tamiya Painting Stand Set).

Thanks, Chris!
I truly appreciate your work and all the hard work you put in every week excellent. What I would like to see with your channel is all the parts bits and decals that you have to go off script and do some customizations truly using your imagination to create something wild to create an exquisite hot rod, some exotic sports car arson mean looking off-road vehicle, but truly using your imagination I think it could come up with something amazing 😺✌️
I've always loved building from the box, but maybe some day I'll have time to kitbash something.
i wish i had bought that when i saw it last, i have a lot of parts, and have been building a large master collection, most of the b body mopars interchange floor pans in the a,m,t, world, i am currently tubbing out a richard petty belvedere, using the 426 wedge from the 64 belvedere kit.
dont know what i will do about cross ram yet, i want it to have it,
dont know where to find it.
has the panels reversed, painted aluminum, roll bar from petty kit, interior handles, driver door handle, racing gauges from petty kit, dash HAS radio delete, beat up glove box lid, paint aluminum, well that'll be later,
they include those gauges in this one too i see, i need to find one to go with my 64, i will do the sister convertible to do a drag car with!
great build and thanks, beautiful car
