Revell USA 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Roadrunner 440+6 440 Six Pack 1/24 scale
    RMX4531 RMX-4531 85-4531
The Plymouth Road Runner is a mid-size car with a focus on performance built by Plymouth in the United States between 1968 and 1980. By 1968, some of the original muscle cars were moving away from their roots as relatively cheap, fast cars as they gained features and increased in price. Plymouth developed the Road Runner to market a lower-priced, basic trim model to its upscale GTX.
Plymouth paid $50,000 to Warner Bros.-Seven Arts to use the Road Runner name and likeness from their Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner cartoons (as well as a "beep, beep" horn, which Plymouth paid $10,000 to develop).[1] The Road Runner was based on the Chrysler B platform (the same as the Belvedere and Satellite), as a back-to-basics mid-size performance car.
The 1970 model year brought new front, and rear end looks to the basic 1968 body, and it would prove to be another success. Updates included a new grille, cloth & vinyl bench seat, hood, front fenders, quarter panels, single-piston Kelsey-Hayes disc brakes (improved from the rather small-rotor Bendix 4 piston calipers of '68 - '69 ), and even non-functional scoops in the rear quarters.[9] The design and functionality of the Air Grabber option was changed. A switch below the dash actuated a vacuum servo to slowly raise the forward-facing scoop, exposing shark-like teeth on either side. "High Impact" colors, with names like In-Violet, Moulin Rouge, and Vitamin C, were available for that year. Although a heavy-duty three-speed manual became the standard transmission, the engine lineup was left unchanged, relegating the four-speed to the options list along with the TorqueFlite automatic. This was the second and last year of the Road Runner convertible, with only 834 made. The new high-back bucket seats were shared with other Chrysler products, which featured built-in headrests.
The 440 Six Barrel remained an option for 1970. A factory-produced cast iron piece replaced the 1969 "M" Code Edelbrock aluminum intake; however, some early cars built before January 1, 1970, were equipped with the left over aluminum Edelbrock intake from the year prior.
Sales of the 1970 Road Runner dropped by more than 50 percent over the previous year to around 41,000 units (about 1,000 ahead of Pontiac's GTO but still about 13,000 units behind Chevy's Chevelle SS-396/454). This would also be the last year of the Road Runner convertible with 834 total productions. Only 3 Hemi (R) code Road Runner convertibles were built (plus 1 to Canada). The declining sales of Road Runner and other muscle cars were the results of a move by insurance companies to add surcharges for muscle car policies - making insurance premiums for high-performance vehicles a costly proposition. Also, Plymouth introduced another bargain-basement muscle car for 1970, the compact Duster 340 which was powered by a 275 hp (205 kW) 340 4-BBL V8 which in the lighter-weight compact A-body could perform as well if not better than a 383 Road Runner. Furthermore, the Duster 340 was priced even lower than the Road Runner, and its smaller engine qualified it for much lower insurance rates.

Nice review/build, Chris! Those old Monogram kits used to just fall together. No fit issues at all. I built quite a few of them back in the day. I'm also glad to see they kept the dog dish hubs in the kit. I really prefer that look to the Magnum 500's. Cheers!

That was great to watch, different from a couple guys I have also watched build. You were fast but clean and accurate the others were very slow and agonised over every part. They ‘knew’ the real thing and grumbled greatly when it didn’t comply. I would guess this car would have been a three (3) evening build maybe more.
Now the finished models are always amazing !! Nothing like them! The sort of build that goes to shows wins or podium each time.
I am not sure what I want to be, I am a returnee and boy have things changed in 45 years!!! Do you think it’s possible to mix both styles? A quick build but in a decent kit one day and a long slow build another day? I got it (I think) a slow and painstaking build in the cupboard and that allows time and space to build a good but quick kit as well!? Would that work? I’m thinking yes it would.
You see I do love woodworking and I am returning to that as well after just as many years. Nothing satisfies me like the wood joining, finishing a piece with all the smells and pleasure it brings and screwing a screw in just the right amount and hear the woods joining together and I can make money with woodworking and not with building a ‘toy’ plane!
So I need time, space and money for that as well. What a busy mess I could be!😅

Hey! Pretty cool they re-issue this kit! I built the original release of it (was released in 2000) and this is the second re-issue of it (aka, they released it for the first time in 2000, another one 'round 2012 if I'm correct and this new release). It is a Revell, not a Monogram mold, but I wouldn't be surprised if they used Monogram's GTX as its base, as many parts are interchangeable between the two. Mine is really similar to yours, just with a blue that is a tad bit darker.
