Hey, thanks to Steam Cloud, I still have the savegame from before the conversation! "Please Pilot, dont be so emotional" and then you have the same option that I choose.
"Millions of lightyears" would put you outside the galaxy, in empty intergalactic space. Probably should have gone with "thousands" for a more sensible number
This caused some... confusion in the community. Ssome believe each secotr is in an entirely different Galaxy or something, but I'm pretty sure everyone is still part of the Milky Way.
@@thomasvleminckx I think so. Pretty sure that this is the case now. But the first X game said "Universe" pretty often. Could be just a figure of speech, but some X4 Players also think they travel through universes.
@@TurKlack Pretty sure that's just a turn of phrase to refer to the gate network being a self-contained series of sectors virtually unreachable by those outside (because almost no one actually has FTL to enable interstellar travel). The whole "different universes, woooo" is a millennial obsession/fad, and was absolutely not a thing yet in 1998/2003/2005 when X1-X3 came out.
Hmm, have you tried the newest patch? This one is for W10 compatibility... www.egosoft.com/download/x/patches_en.php What I rembemered, I played it unter the W98 compatibillity.
@@silent_buh Autoupdated to that version already (on steam). And W98 compatibility mode makes the game not launch at all. I saw people say that the problem might be with codec packs, I use MPC, will check that out. A bit bummed that my first experience with X series started with such problems.
I don't understand how the xenons are planning to reach Earth by repairing the jump gate from the X Universe if the jump gate on Earth side doesn't exist anymore anyway then the repaired jump gate would lead nowhere as it doesn't have another gate to connect to, that doesn't make sense. 🤔
@@Maxime_Martyr Well for one they don't know that the gate was blown up instead of just turned off, also they said they were tricked into following them through a "hidden" jumpgate implying there was a second one.

Yeah, right, another lazy plot design from EgoSoft, I can even picture the goners answer "Because if we already did it ourselves then you wouldn't have a quest to pursue and the player would be bored.". 😅

Eh, what are the odds that an Earth pilot jumped into another universe right at the time when this universe was about to invade Earth after one thousand years of being apart? 😏
