    Probably the most amazing thing about this was that even Alex was self-aware with the fact that he knew Gordon typically picks younger chefs to be winners (based on post interviews he's done), so the fact his door opened was a genuine shock to him. As someone who has lost everything due to Covid, I'm so happy Alex won. It seems like a sort of a silent justice, that when you close up shop into something not your fault, new opportunities always arise. After he said the story about his restaurant closed due to Covid, I instantly connected with him formerly from the industry.
    Alex had a natural charisma about him that the 20s something liked him, even wanted him on their team at one point, and both teams gravited to him, regarding him as a mentor.

    • @margarethmichelina5146
      @margarethmichelina5146 Рік тому +1

      Honestly, Gordon has started to "flip the script" since Season 15.
      -He chose Ariel who is the villain on Season 15 as the winner and Ariel is one of the people who is unlikable on that season along with Jackie, Dannie, and Frank.
      -Season 16, He chose Ryan who at first is shy and has a small voice to be the winner. We thought it's gonna be Heidi who's gonna win since she dominated the season of the most but Heidi didn't even make it to the final.
      -In Season 17, he made a random CEO judge the final dish and chose Benjamin's Dish over Nick's dish in the end as he chose Michelle's dish at first. Michelle has been up and down in Season 17 and either Nick or Benjamin deserve to win
      -Mia is The Challenge Queen in Season 18 as she won a lot of challenge but she lost to Ariel who is the last Veteran
      -Season 19, we all thought Declan's gonna be in the final but he got nominated fairly by Wolgang Punk which is an honor. We thought Mary Lou's gonna win since she was 28 at that season beat Kori who was 37 at that time but nope, it's the other way around.
      -After 6 seasons in a row when the winners are always females, we finally get a male winner again which is Trenton in Season 20. Trenton is also quiet most of the time until he's finally showing his true power starting from mid season and dominate in Black Jacket rounds and made Kiya jealous most of the time.
      -Finally, we got the first winner in Hell's Kitchen who is 40 years old which is Alex in Season 21. It would be fair if he competed with Alejandro in the finals.

    • @heymistercarter.
      @heymistercarter. Рік тому +16

      I don't think he mistook the two. I've heard that a quick way to check meat temperatures is to use a cake tester and pressing it against your wrist after holding it to the meat. It was something I looked up after I saw the episode, because I was surprised by that myself. My guess is that HK bans thermometers (after what we saw with Barbie on Season 10 and Matthew having to sneak one in on Season 20), so Vlad probably thought he'd do the cake tester thing. But as we saw, it blew up in his face.

    The F5 was not the only time Alex made a mistake during service. He did so at the F10 as well, serving cold crab cakes once, but he rebounded so quickly that of course it played no factor in whether he was nominated or not, even with his team having to nominate someone that round. And as if a 2nd mistake, especially one that small, would really be a demerit against him. Even with me pointing that out, he was still the most consistent chef of that season, as well as one of the most consistent chefs in all of HK.

    One thing I hope HK does in future seasons is give the runner-up enough storyline and character so that we care when they make it to the finale. It’s done that a few times, with runners-up like Mia and Mary-Lou getting enough screentime and storyline along with the eventual winner. Yet with both Megan last season and Dafne on this one, both sorta felt like glorified background players up until they get close to making the finale. I’d like to care about both finalists the whole time, not have it be a case where we’re like “oh yea, you’re here!” when we see them make it pretty far. Both Dafne and Megan had virtually no storyline throughout the majority of the season, and you can just tell the other finalist was going to win with how much more storyline and screentime they got in comparison.

      Mary-Lou has a cute relationship with Cody and is the Queen of Confessional Room as she's always making funny comments on camera and also because she's bubbly and less problematic

    Watching this season when it aired, I thought Ramsay could possibly end up doing a double crowning this season, with how both Alejandro and Alex mopped the floor with the competition. He’s never done that in HK, and considering the talent level those two displayed, it could’ve been justified. And yet as soon as they had the five-dish relay at the final three, and Alejandro got sniped out (especially with how much they praised Dafne’s stuff), I sorta knew it was Alex’s to lose at that point.
