This makes the most sense. Both Ian and Jack undefeated in UFC and similar ranking. Colby is 3-3 in his last 6, so let him be the gatekeeper for title contenders as opposed to cherry picking fights.

Let’s be honest we’re all rooting for Colby. Half of it is hate for Ian the other half is just liking Colby despite his shenanigans even if it’s reluctant.
Normal human Colby is likable. His gimmicked persona is not. His gimmicked persona's fighting ability has declined due to inactivity in the cage. So talking you way into a fight and them delivering shit , creates just future non interest. You dwindle more and more

The problem is that Ian would retire Colby at the end of the day and Chael doesn't want that.
Non gimmicked Colby seems like a nice likable dude. I saw a few interviews of him acting like a human.
The main problem is that Colby is washed. One half of a match up not showing up and performing good, can spoil the whole thing
And Unfortunately one bad high profile awful fight with Colby could ruin Garry's future UFC career for good .

I think it's different. Tony Ferguson is completely delusional as to his declined abilities . He will there for truely try to fight someone.
Colby knows he's done. But he can still talk (carnival bark) his way into a match creation. However, he completely (now) knows , he can't deliver and the fight will be disappointing.

I don’t even think it would be close. I still believe Covington really did get injured against Leon, because he literally did nothing. Nothing that he has done in every fight. Something was wrong with him mentally or physically. Watching that fight I just kept thinking what the hell is he doing? He could easily take Leon down right now. He just stood there though like Homer Simpson. Made no sense. He should have toyed with Leon.
The act of Fighting top talent messed Colby up. Big props to Colby, but you don't fight a then still firing on all cylinders Usman twice and walk away unchanged from that.

If your slow or not in the know, Colby turned down the fight with Ian in the toughest fashion he could think of, using stipulations. That's why the fights not happening.

Colby is the Jake Paul of the UFC, he can beat washed old guys, tried fighting guys in their prime but didn’t work out well and now wants to go back to what works aka Wonderboy
Respect him a bit tho, Colby is trash but was very competitive against the apex of the division. Jake Paul is an amateur fighting non boxers.
DP off a loss just fought a rising up-and-comer coming off a win. I don’t think people need to be sold on this idea.
A heel. A true heel is probably cool in real life and turns it on for public consumption. But a jackoff is a jackoff. In this instance Colby is the clear heel. When people love to hate IG it’s not because he is an effective heel ( like say, Iron Sheik). Most people just really don’t like a JO. Even if he’s really good.

Garry vs Shavkat or MVP is the best match ups. Colby vs Wonderboy is better as they both look on an equal level in terms of being washed

This idea that young up and comers fight young up and comers and veterans fight veterans doesn’t work when you look at Colby Covington‘s résumé. Colby Covington when he was on his way up the rankings he was fighting guys out of the prime like Robbie Lawler and RDA. So I don’t know how much I like the idea that the only thing stopping ian Gary and Colby Covington from being book is because Of their age
Former interim champion, number one contender, fighting the elite, 3 title fights against the best. Vs an up-and-coming with a perfect record. A funny squabble between the two, which guarantees a great press conference. Absolutely no reason not to make this fight.
Fighters age and their skills decline. You read Colby's accomplishments off like they happened weeks ago. That's years ago. You can only judge where a fighter is at , by their last performance until proven other wise, and he looked awful.
Fairly, Garry didnt look good either.
Solution is to keep them away from each other. Because your gambling on a protentail unknown horror show.
@@kev30631 Colby looked horrible against Leon Edwards, and no one knows why other than Colby himself. People can speculate all they want, but they are just guessing. Colby looked great against everybody else. Colby was fighting Usman in his prime, and Usman is one of the best to do it. We’ll know after Colby‘s next fight if he’s aged out. Regardless, I for one, would like to see the fight between him and Ian.
