The SNP slogan for this election was on the lines of: "Vote SNP to give Scotland a strong voice at Westminster..."??? There were 56 SNP MPs at the time of Brexit, were they able to stop Brexit; were they able to stop Scotland being dragged out of the EU? During the Johnson reign they had 48 MPs, were they able to stop the Internal Market Bill becoming an Act of Parliament? In Feb 24 the the SNP used one of their opposition days to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. The speaker set a precident by ineffect handing their opposition day to the Labour party. Did they walk out in protest; did they walk out on the condition that they would not return until the speaker was removed from his position? No they just shouted, moaned and complained, but beyond that did very little. On independence, did they have a plan in place; a fallback for when the UK government said no? The SNP were sent to Westminster by the people of Scotland to represent the independence movement, they were not sent to Westminster to meekly nod along without action.
Yep, Westminster should not be the focus. If the SNP put all their effort into building Scotland up to what it ought to be, they'd win votes and the necessary backing to simply walk away from the arranged marriage. People want to see the problems we all face sorted out, now. Housing, the NHS, Schooling, Poverty, the Roads, etc. All within the power of the SNP and Scottish Government. We don't want feeble excuses, we want to see the actions of competence and care for Scots and Scotland.
Unfortunately it was obvious for some time Lesley was off the mark with her SNP delusions, the people have shown clearly what they think of this ego drama SNP obviously party before people mentally
The mantra that the SNP is the route to indy could be true, but it might not be. As an independence supporter, I feel like voting SNP to get independence is like voting for Labour because you want socialism. The SNP are the closest thing there is to a meaningful party for independence in the same way Labour is the closest thing there is to a socialist party of power, but neither deliver either.
One aspect for the low turn out, Voter ID. So many do not have driving licences nor passports. The Scottish Government should issue a basic ID Card and make sure that would be recognised UK wide.
Yes, please continue to discuss how much more progressive you want an independent scotland to be rather than how fiscally sound scotland should be. Keep doing that, it suits the unionist cause of keeping scotland anchored firmly in the UK. Pls, carry on.
SNP 2015 56 of 59 MPs under 1 persons leadership (under which any challenges to lead were thwarted, disciplined, punished) now, 2024, 9 out of 57 MPs Those giving Sturgeon a pass simply don't understand the whole story.. why?, because you won't hear it on legacy media, including Lesley's podcast. It just wasn't a disaster for the SNP - it was a disaster for people like me who watched Starmer destroy democracy to steal the SNP's day to propose a motion and no one seems to care - that is our democracy trashed by one bully who now lives in Number 10 - where is people's sense of how things must be done? Do people really think that Trump's games only happen in the US - if so, Starmer proves they will happen here and have happened here. How do you deal with the mental damage that this has caused? No one seems to call the BBC to account for the bias of its reporting about things in Scotland - the BBC seems to think it is okay for their journalists to interrupt others - when is interrupting not bad manners and worse bad journalism? People who have seen the good that the SNP has done seem to be thrown to the dogs just to suit bullies.
@@margaretknox2301 I felt that they kept me and many of my fellow Scots alive through the pandemic. I realise that not everyone did manage it or else lost loved ones so I am not belittling that experience. But they pulled me through. As well, they have kept NHS functioning - I have had four cancer surgeries in two years and was seen promptly and given after-surgery treatments. I don't think that would have happened as fast in other parts of the UK, so I credit them with that. I value my bus pass, I value my free prescriptions - they kept both of those going. They aren't perfect - I could sure argue against freeports - but they aren't incompetent either. They just haven't done so well with independence desires. And they sure got us all down a rabbit hole with gender reform. That's just my opinion, others may have had very different experiences.

The blame game is standard SNP practise. People want to see them managing the country well and stop wasting money. Nicola demanded wheesh for Indy but in reality she put a saddle on her supporters back and rode them like a horse. Hence why they lost 39 seats. A clear out is needed and pushing Stephen Flynn for the next SNP leader is supporting the old guard. If so it will be SNP in freefall for 2026. Lesley has basically admitted the SNP have done nothing since 2010 . 14 years and they just will not see it.

@@photostudio5cromarty I’d say that the politics in Scotland did not exist until the SNP changed it . Before the SNP a general election was for the whole of the UK
Gay marriage was aligning civil partnerships with the Christian churches. The progressive bit was civil partnerships in the first place, introduced in England in 2004 under a Labour government.
Is the SNP waiting for the autumn statement to see what crumbs the new labour government give us They should be scrapping the council tax and bring in an annual ground rent and roof tax and dare the new labour government to use a section 35 order to stop it
Pretty apt though when many families in scotland were off on their holidays. Rishi knew that when he called it, they betted on it. Also postal voting issues, online voting issues, proxy voting…some folks not aware they needed photographic identification so were turned away from voting. Many issues left folks disenfranchised.

Bottom line SNP care more about self status & enrichment than independence and the public can see that while political analysts just make excuses
