these videos single handedly taught me how to ollie. every other video just covers the basic motions without explaining HOW the ollie actually works and all of the nuances behind its physics. i was struggling with my ollie for weeks not making any progress. but after watching these videos i went from no-air, pinning my tail, stationary ollies to full rolling ollies within a few days. your tips about keeping my back heel up, jumping straight up, and popping AFTER my core rises, all made such a huge difference. i finally understand and can explain how an ollie works now. thank you so much for these videos
Thank you for the amazing feedback! The whole goal with creating all of the ollie vids was to help people who just can't make it happen easily. To hear that you made these changes in just days is awesome! Nice work and please let me know if we can help you continue your growth! Humbled to be a part of your learning process. Ollie On!!!
Yeah! That's the kind of video I was in search for - for literally two years. All the nerdy details that help me connect the dots. All of the dots! Thank you so much!
Box jumps have helped for getting my knees up faster. I jump sideways lifting my slide foot, then my pop foot onto the box. For landing, I hop off the box trying to keep my knees as high as possible as I land. This helps my ollie landings to be less 'stompy'.
yessss the karate is something I realized also while studying Ollie videos, super important movement to practice, love how you covered that and loving the series!
HiYAAA! So crazy how complex the ollie is and yet for some it just comes so naturally. For me it's all about breaking it down into simple ways to train each part of the ollie with some other move that helps me get coordinated and build muscle memory.
I can do an ok ollie on grass so I want to start practicing on concrete but it seems kinda scary have u got any tips on getting into it or like is it easier to do an ollie while moving or stationary? I've thought that while moving would be easier because on grass I always push forward but the thought going while rolling freaks me out
The hard part when you start to roll is the fear of coming off the board or landing wrong and falling. Some great ways to get over this are to practice running and jumping on to a rolling board to simulate landing. You can also try running while holding the board then jumping on as you drop the board. You can try landing at angles and correcting with kick turns to simulate what it feels like to land wrong and correct. the more you create ways to practice landings the better you will feel overall. Stationary Ollies are tough unless your wheels are locked. Another trick you can try is to tighten your wheel bolts to slow the wheels to make it feel a little easier. Keep in mind that tightening the bolts too much can damage the bearings so be careful with that. When you start practice Ollies while rolling just try to do micro Ollies nothing big (think just barely lift the nose and barely tap the tail). After that feels comfortable you can progressively add more pop. Have fun!!!
When you lift your front foot think about swinging the front lower leg and foot toward the back leg. This will give the nose of the board more room to rise up before you catch it. Feel free to send a clip of you doing it and I'm happy to give you some feedback.
@@unitedstatesskateboardeduc5205 where do I send a videoand what do you mean by swinging my lower front leg and when I try to Ollie rolling I can jump up even to start my Ollie sometimes how do I fix this ?
send it to chris@ussea.us and I'll give it a look. visualize the angle of your lead lower leg. Think of having your front foot moving toward your back leg a little more. Send me the clip and ill respond in more depth via email:)
This deep analysis with multiple skater levels is so helpful and often not talked about in other channels.

So glad you found this and it helped! Not everyone learns things through feel sometimes you have to get a little nerdy to make the connections!

That is an awesome drill! Thanks for the share I'll maybe work a variation of that into a vid for people:).
I finally found the perfect in depth video for ollies, thank you so much
You're welcome! check out the Learn how to ollie playlist I am organizing all of the videos we have done so far on ollies in there. Hope they help!
Great details and so in line with the prev. ones. Looking forward to more🤙🏼
Super awesome another tutorial video on the Ollie's physics of the leading leg and launch angle!!!
Thank you for the support! Trying to balance nerdy with useful:)

Awesome content as always!
ua-cam.com/video/J35fUlw1tO0/v-deo.html thought that was an interesting way to learn thought I would share it
Thank you!

Well damn 🤔 👍🏾
When I Ollie my front foot catches before I can get a high jump how can I fix this?

So basically however high your front wheels go is how high your ollies will be
That and the amount of bounce off the tail of the board and a little bit of lift as you drag your front foot up to the nose.
Sometimes i ollie while rolling and front foot toe goes off the deck toeside, so i feel disbalanced at landing, what can be the reason?
