USSEA Nerdy Skateboard Breakdowns: Ep 4 How to Push Part 2
I follow a few basic guide lines for myself Indy on Higher wheelbase boards Ventures on Small wheelbase boards also make sure the wheels are either the same height as the trucks or less by 1-3 mm and never more than 2 mm/ so if your riding some Standard Indys those are 55mm high ride wheels that are 53-57mm add Risers that adds 3.1mm thats a standard 1/8 riser pad your trucks end up 3mm higher you can add wheel height. so on a standard Indy being 55 plus 3.1 you get 58mm and 58-60mm wheels feel just fine. If your Tall. Skate a big board. 14.5 wheelbase or more. skate a deck with longer nose and tail. Figure out if you like mellow or a lot of concave, that's preference based. Trucks, you want alot of steering or alot of stability? depends on your tricks. If you want Strength skate Titanium Trucks, You want reliability skate Standard trucks. learn to break in the bushings or learn to swap the bushings the way you want to get the steering dialed. find your wheel shape and size, Bigger wheels more speed more weight, smaller wheels less speed less weight.
Danke 👍thank you
This a first video on the topic of kickturning that actually explains in details where to shift the weight and how to lean when practicing the turn 👍

Great analysis! Can I sent in my Ollie video as well? Thanks ahead
I see you have approved clock hours for Washington state teachers. How do I get credit for your courses? Is this the only one you have?I would like to see more.
Man what a criminally underrated channel
Mom: we are so proud of you! Dad: ok, great. But can you do it switch?
I will bite back on the length argument a bit. I can’t skate a 14 inch wheelbase if it’s 31.5 long, but I can if the wheelbase is 14.25 on a 31.5. According to Paul’s metric I should skate a 14 inch wheelbase. However, I can skate a 14 wheelbase if it’s 31.75 long.
i have a massive problem at the moment... hoping you can help... im riding alot of transition at the moment... bowls and 1/4s etc.. my problem is that front foot is always shifting when coming down from the copings... on rock rolls, a lot of the time my front foot shifts usually to the toe side, on 50/50s more to the heel side... its super frustrating because i cant get the run together without shifting and without alot of time! Im guessing you will know the answer! hope you can help! thanks again for this vid!!
Bro, that skateboard is dirty! Quit rubbing it on your shoulder and wash your hands. Stop touching it and put it down. 🤦♂️
great series :)
This is hands down the best tutorial on youtube.
So glad I found your tutorial on standing/foot position. Thank you for breaking it down. Just bought our first skateboards so we could be active together (6 and 5 year olds). Much appreciated.
Dude I bet Jimmy is killing it right now. I’m at his point in my skating. I can hit clean Nollie heels , switch heels but the Ollie still gets me , same problem as Jimmy. Can’t wait to try it out tomorrow. I’ll be cool to come back to this comment in 3 yrs and see how much I’ve progress.
Very good advice but I was hoping for advice on the moving ollie because I always feel like I’m going to fall backwards
🤯
I don’t get. I cruised everyday as a kid. But now with 21 the board always slips away
I have the same problem and i cant ollie over stuff
Your ollie videos deserve more views! Took me forever to find these! I can do a rolling ollie, but not very fast, and not super consistent. These videos are helping me with putting all the little details together; working towards consistency!
Damn I'd be happy with being able to Ollie like that regardless of the disconnect 😂
Thank you for your explanations, I watched so many videos, hoping that this understanding will help me
That's really the basic knowledge many coaches Skip 😊.. thanks for understanding beginners thoughts!!
Personally I think the more I wiggle and adjust my feet. The less steeze and comfort I get.
Sometimes i ollie while rolling and front foot toe goes off the deck toeside, so i feel disbalanced at landing, what can be the reason?
Very good breakdown. Love the details.
He might need to square his hips with his board more. That way he can engage is leg faster and keep that front foot on the right path
This deep analysis with multiple skater levels is so helpful and often not talked about in other channels.
Thank you so much
2:23 hey, is that tommie bennet??
Joe should try stair sets since he's fine with ollies down in elevation
Put on pads and practice falling and bailing to get an idea of how to bail safely and you get less scared too. Now anytime i try something, I plan out how to bail, and practice bailing. Then I feel better trying the obstacle
That kid clearing that gap😮 At first it looked like the camera guy was the dad going "Whoa, Tommy that gaps too big"
The way you explain things is awesome and on point.👏🏼 Thank you. Love from India ❤️
There are so many guides out there, but this is the best guide for me. It’s very concise. No skating bravado whatsoever
I dont think i wanna try that roll coming down a slope at high speed, I'll break my neck 😅
And now I’m over here struggling how to Ollie
Thank you for the tips hopefully it helps me to balance!
Your videos are incredibly helpful!
So glad you’re doing this
Great video. Can't seem to find the 4th part.
I'm working on it
The heel tip really helped me get the board to pop better! Also, Jordan has a beautiful ollie
So glad it helped and yes he's got some good snap in them legs!!!
5:11 when you do the kickturn do u lift the back foot? when i try that i always slip and kick the board upwards
When you kick turn you are keeping weight on the back foot through the entire move. You only lift the front foot after you have rotated your shoulders and remember its just a little lift.
Well damn 🤔 👍🏾
ᵖʳᵒᵐᵒˢᵐ
great effort!
Thank you! Cheers!
