there is a little bit of lore you might be missing! "the master" is the main antagonist of fallout 1, and the nightkin were troops underneath him. this quest is one of my favorites despite how back and forthy it is
Wow, this is the first time I've watched a youtube at 2160p. Doubt my monitor is that high tech, but still it's cool to know it exists. Yes, Master refers to... well I don't want to spoil it, but it's from the first Fallout. Primary antagonist. This quest is pretty representative of how quests in this game are arranged. 9 times out of 10, you can help one group, but not another. Help Harland, or the Nightkin, but not both. This happens in many quests and has a great deal to do with the faction influence system. It is rare you can play both sides, so the only way to know who offers the better reward is... play the game several times. :D If you get lost in a dungeon, use the map. ;) There are local maps, besides the world overview that has the fast travel. Sometimes the local map is also a good way of finding transit zones (doors) to places where minor loot might be hidden, places the quests will never direct you toward. Oh never mind, you were using it. But you can scroll a ways on the local map; that, in conjunction with the quest tick mark on your compass, will get you where you need to go most of the time. But yes some of these dungeons are too labyrinthian for even those with the best sense of direction. Hope I am not overexplaining something you already know. Yeah, I saw at the end when you brought the rocket fuel to Chris that you know what you're doing. My apologies. Skill checks in dialogue: As seen in the science check with Jason, it showed 25 and then the text, which means you had at least 25 science. If you have less than the amount needed to pass the skill check, it would say for example, 21/25 if your skill was 21. This lets you know that you can often exit a conversation, and return to it later when you have higher skills, or equip clothing or drugs that boost those skills. So, if you meet the requirement, such as the 30 barter check with Cliff, that is a 100% chance to pass. If you had less than 30 barter, a 0% chance to pass. There are no hidden probability things going on in the background. Sunset sarspairlla is an awesome heal item. I used them slightly more than stimpacks. The downside of course is their weight. But I find when I am carrying too many of them, I just drink several to roll the dice for a star bottle cap. It was endearing to see you fawn over the dirty motel room. Just from having watched your other content, and how much time you've spent doing interior decorating. Something that crossed my mind during the fight with the nightkin, and then again when you had the opportunity to steal in the gift shop's store room: I don't know if you have any autosaves going on in the background, but I haven't noticed you saving at all. Sure, the game does autosave whenever you change zones, sleep, etc, but sometimes you can spend an hour or more and then have the game crash. Or accidentally "wrong" someone by accidentally stealing, going through a door that you are not told that they don't want you to walk through, etc. Just saying, because time is priceless. If you become sick from rads, the game will let you know. "You are now sick with such and such radiation poisoning" the same way it alerts you to well rested bonuses, food or drug effects wearing off, etc. :) Yep, you could have done both of Chris's fetch quests at the same time. It's pretty rare tho in this game that you get a fetch quest where it doesn't tell you everything you'll need to get up front. Come Fly With Me is a bit of an outlier as far as being inefficient, a bit of a walking simulator at times. There's only one or two quests that waste time a bit like that. But you know, it's not awful. As far as the rocket souvenir: most of the time in this game, really all Bethesda games, quest items have some degree of protection. Either they won't let you sell them, or won't let you drop them. Just so you don't accidentally lose things that prevent you from completing quests. You might be able to get rid of them after Come Fly with Me is complete, but I am not sure. I love seeing this play-through. Hopefully I am not back-seating too much, that is not the vibe I am trying to give. Except for the quick-saving. :p :) have a lovely weekend.
Not too much back-seating at all, this was very helpful, thank you! Hoping we can drop the rockets after the quest, otherwise… these are stuck with me 😂
"that didn't go very well" meanwhile, i was sitting here thinking you handled those nightkin like a CHAMP 😭 insanely well done on not dying, i always have to sneak through this area, and half the time use Boone!
You can complete the Nightkin part of the quest peacefully if you don't kill too many of them. If you had just killed the Jailer, but not run into the other ones, you can check the messages on the terminal by Harland, show it to Davison, and then he will leave with all the other Nightkin. You have to either be really sneaky or find a Stealth Boy to do it, but it is possible. Usually if I'm trying to get that outcome I have to reload a save at least once because it's hard to see invisible enemies in the dark 😵💫 Thanks for keeping up with these, they are a great watch!
3:08 the master was the leader of a super mutant army in fo1 (a lot of super mutants in the game come from him), nightkin once were super mutants. their over use of stealth boys changed them. they turned blue, often schizophrenic, and can have an intense fear of being seen because they are addicted to stealth boys :)
The hotel room operates as a player home, so your stuff will be safe :) If you successfully stealth through you could have helped both Harland and Davison. If you ever go to Jacobstown you can learn more about the Nightkin and even have one as a companion
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it yet, but you can key-bind weapons, armour, and health items like stimpacks to the number keys so you can switch between/ use stuff without needing to open your inventory every time. The way I think it works on pc is you open your pip-boy, hold the number you want to bind something to, and click the item while holding the number, but it only works for every number other than 2 because 2 is for switching ammo if I remember correctly I didn’t know about it until hours into my first run which would have saved me so much stress and time so thought I’d let you know just in case!
I think Davison got mad at you because Antler told him you killed all his friends. That section is sort of either/or for helping Harlan or Davison (though there might be ways to sneakily help both).
u should install tale of two wastelands and play dat one day :3 it puts all of fallout 3 into new Vegas so you can travel between the two at any point in da game
Simultaneously curse and bless you all for telling me to pick the Black Widow perk.
"you could fix a rocket but you couldnt fix the rip in your pants?" You put your reading glasses on for that read 😂

Ahhh I knew “the master” sounded familiar
Sixty-nine rocket souvenirs reminds me of a song from Fallout 4.
I was secretly pleased to end up with exactly that many

In Cliff's storage room there is a unique gun called "That gun", it'll solve your weaponry needs for a while
Do you think he’d be mad if I took it??
@@IfThenCreateyou also can buy that gun from him!
@@IfThenCreate No, you bought the key so he won't mind🫶

You gotta do Boone’s quest next! He’s definitely one of my favorite characters!
Watching this as I paint my nails 💅
When you put Dinky on the bed 🥹 THIS is the cosy fallout content I come here for. X
The hotel room operates as a player home, so your stuff will be safe :) If you successfully stealth through you could have helped both Harland and Davison. If you ever go to Jacobstown you can learn more about the Nightkin and even have one as a companion
Spoilers!
Such a joy to watch you do this play through! What a silly goofy time
just so you know... the voice actor of Boone in Novac is Kovu from The Lion King 2 😉😉
21:00 if you sneak around the Nightkin and don’t kill them, then you can resolve that part peacefully. It’s hard if your sneak is low

One of my favorite quests.
There’s so much more to it than I expected!!
69 souvenir rockets, to go with the song on fallout 4, rocket 69 by Todd Rhodes
I always carry a dinky around too tihi
Yeah that Jeannie May is a real peach
I think Davison got mad at you because Antler told him you killed all his friends. That section is sort of either/or for helping Harlan or Davison (though there might be ways to sneakily help both).
There was a point in the video and you said something like.... This quest is much longer than I thought.
You'll be saying that a lot in New Vegas.
u should install tale of two wastelands and play dat one day :3 it puts all of fallout 3 into new Vegas so you can travel between the two at any point in da game
Hello general
Can you just drop the rockets? Lololol
According to the fandom wiki… no. They’re bugged and can’t be dropped, traded, sold, or stored. So I guess these are along for the ride 🫠🫠
Can you perhaps remove them via command? I know you can add items via command.@@IfThenCreate
i love tacos
