I love when I'm stuck right away.
dragging transitions doesn't place them across the middle of the clips, but only allows me to put it at the end of one clip or the beginning of another one.

That means there's not enough footage in either clip. Resolve needs a bit of extra footage before and after the cut to make the transition so you probably just need to trim the clips a bit. Hope it helps!
