Nolan was the only person ever, to give Batman a satisfying, happy ending. Ever comicbook Batman version, timeline and genre, has him either dying, or aging alone, unable to move on and pass the torch. He never gets a wife, kids and normal family, he never has a normal life. He is always Batman, he is always miserable, he is always alone, until he eventually dies just like that. That's just awful. The editing shows him in the cockpit up to late in the countdown, but it just shows him in the cockpit. Supposed the bat is designed the same way the batmobile is and can separate into 2 different vehicles? The let's say the cockpit can separate and has rocket engines to propel it away from the main body of the bat. That part keeps flying out into Gotham harbor while the cockpit escape pod rockets away in a different direction. All the while, Batman's still got the timer up and is still getting readouts from the main vehicle...which he can probably fly by remote control or just let the - working - autopilot do it's job.

I really enjoyed your idea of Nolan's trilogy being kind of a "What if Gotham was a real city and the Batman comics are later legends of actual avents". It works with the realistic-ish feel of the films and really ties together. Cool.
Yeah well its almost similar you know, the bad guy did won halfway and the whole team was separated only to regroup and kick the bad guy's ass in the end.
Dude, I rarely ever comment on youTube videos but I had to write something to appreciate your honesty. Thank you for seeing the trilogy as art rather than a deviation of the comics.
People say Alfred will never leave him. Well it's a different Alfred. A more fatherly one than just a mere butler or assistant. Hell even Ra's was like a father figure to Bruce in Begins. This Alfred made a promise to Thomas Wayne to protect what was dearest to him the most. Seeing Bruce going on suicide missions for all these years certainly takes its toll, and there comes a time he must say enough is enough, especially when he's coming up against Bane. The fact that Alfred could jeopardize his relationship with Bruce even if it meant leaving him so Bruce would change his mind makes this Alfred the most human of all Alfreds put to screen. We've seen these 2 have tender moments in the first 2 films which is why seeing them part is heartbreaking, at least to me. Don't forget Nolan's trilogy is more character driven than comical. Nolan's Batman coz there is no ONE way to tell Batman's story. I've never seen these characters as one Dimensional. They are fictional characters and as such can be reinvented and reinterpreted over and over again. It's how we've moved from Adam West's Batman to Batfleck today.

Batman (1989) = 9/10 Batman Returns = 9/10 Batman Forever = 4/10 Batman & Robin = 1/10 Batman Begins = 10/10 Dark Knight = 11/10 Dark Knight Rises = 11/10
this movie was awesome and it was a great closure to the franchise. And i agree with a lot of things he says like how awesome it was that bane sort of continued the jokers plan which is an aspect of the movie i feel like most people didnt get. However i wasnt a big fan of the miranda twist, i feel like it stole the thunder from the bane character a little bit. As far as trilogies i would take lotr over batman but i would take dark knight over nearly every movie
"Why do we fall?...So we can learn to pick ourselves up." Bruce had literally fallen to his lowest point inside of Bane's pit. In an interview that Chris, Jonathan, and Goyer did, Chris Nolan said that Gotham essentially became a proxy for Bruce's parents. Bruce dedicated his entire life attempting to undo the damage inflicted on him as a child by losing his parents. And in TDKR, we see him tenaciously will himself out of hell in order to save his city and the people living in it--ergo, the proxy to his lost parents. I've heard a lot of criticism directed at TDKR, I think rather harshly in some cases. I thought it was one of the most beautifully made films I've ever seen, and the greatest summation to an excellent trilogy. I also really enjoyed your theory of it being more of a historical epic--something Nolan actually said he was going for in the film on a radio show called the Treatment with Elvis Mitchell--but one that you really fleshed out in this video explaining all that it means. You were the first person I heard mention this take, and I heard the radio show sometime later and thought it was really intelligent that you perceived that intent so well in the film. Always love your reviews Jeremy, thanks!
i liked all indiana jones movies. first one is best, followed by third, then second, and then fourth. the fourth one wasn't as good as the others, but it is NOT as bad as everyone says it is.
I hasn't watched this in a while, and decided to put it on last week. I absolutely loved it when it first came out, an epic (though not flawless) conclusion to an epic trilogy. I had seen The Dark Knight so often (it is the best of the bunch, and hands-down the best superhero movie ever made), but I hadn't revisited this one in a while. Now, I will note, I watched this about a week after seeing Infinity War, and what I noticed as I was watching ,is how mature, even with its flaws, this film is compared to Infinity War. The dialogue, the themes, the acting, it all feels so adult-oriented even though it is essentially based on something intended for a much younger audience. I couldn't help but comparing the two films, and like Jeremy mentioned, it really is like comparing apples to oranges. What Nolan did with the DK trilogy is something truly spectacular. To have a set of films transcend a genre, to become something greater than what it was intended to be, is a rare feat indeed. TDKR isn't perfect, there are flaws in logic and timeline questions, but like its hulking antagonist, it's a bruiser of a film with themes that still resonate today. It concludes the trilogy in stirring fashion. If you haven't seen it in a while, I highly recommend checking it out again. The opening sequence, much like that of its predecessor, is, in and of itself, worth the price of admission.
Nolan is maybe my favourite director, he made the best superhero trilogy of all time: Batman begins 10/10 The dark knight 10/10 (my favourite) The dark knight rises 10/10
It's super tough to say but there is quite a few of them and i do not have a specific order: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Captain America Trilogy, Toy Story Trilogy, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Hobbit Trilogy, Both Star Wars Trilogy's, Indiana Jones, Spider-Man Trilogy, Madagascar Trilogy, Back to the Future Trilogy and that's all I could think of. I don't know how I would rank any of these.
Actually Dick Grayson became a cop in bludhaven so he could clean the city's crime as nightwing and purge the police department of corruption as Dick Grayson, basically like Batman and commissioner gordan rolled into one
OH YOU THINK DARKNESS IS YOUR ALLY BUT YOU MERELY ADOPTED THE DARK I WAS BORN IN IT MOLDED BY IT I DIDNT SEE THE LIGHT UNTILL I WAS ALREADY A MAN BY THEN IT WAS NOTHING TO ME BUT....BLINDING!!!!!! THE SHADOWS BETRAY YOU BECAUSE THEY BELONG TO ME Now that is some AWESOME dialogue
I'm from the future. 8 years have passed . We've seen the conclusion to the Avengers and it was NOT as good as the Dark Knight Rises. MCU fanboys, come at me.
TOTALLY agree with you. Avengers one and infinity war are fucking great. But nothing compared to this trilogy. Loved and still love TDKR 9 years later almost.
Hey! The dark knight rises while being quite good had no moment close to the portal sequence in endgame, I don’t think anything in cinema can ever beat that. (And yes I’m an MCU fan boy, so what)
@@matthewschmidt27 the portal sequence was not that emotional .. The escape from the pit and the breaking of his back already were much better moments in TDKR than what endgame offered.. Endgame is overrated and after age of ultron the weakest in the avengers movies.
@H. J. O. A. Yes the portal scene wasn’t that emotional, however it was the culmination of 10 years worth of film for starters. Secondly if you wan emotional look no further than Ironman, how arc throughout the infinity saga pales in comparison to Bruce Wayne’s. So I’m sorry but endgame is a great conclusion to the infinity saga and beats the dark knight any day
@@matthewschmidt27 I don't agree.. If I would agree maybe it's the reason the mcu saga is made up out of 10+ movies. Still Imo the mcu saga isn't better than the dark knight trilogy. And the reason is endgame. Infinity war is for me the best movie in the mcu with a great villain. And for me one of my favorite movies overall. And packed a super emotional punch with the snap. . Thanos wasn't that great in endgame. I was very disappointed. I know it centered more around the avengers. Still. Fat Thor. A caricature. The hulk. A caricature. Disappointing choices. The way they obtained the infinity stones was a poor choice imo. The follow up with Thanos sucked in endgame. Using Thanos from another time line. They should've fought the original Thanos who snapped his finger. I didn't like the action sequences as well.. Infinity war is in that aspect far more superior than endgame. In the end its subjective. Still the dark knight trilogy still is largely recognized as one of the best trilogies ever made.on 1 lord of the rings of course.
The Dark Knight set the bar so high with Ledger's performance that there was no way that Rises could be on par with it. The Joker is Batman's most famous adversary, and is recognized by people who don't even read the comics or watch the movies/shows. Bane is a little more obscure. Much to my shame, I didn't know who Bane was until I played the Arkham games because I didn't have WB as a kid and I couldn't afford to buy comics.
That's true but I don't think that was the problem. They tried to do too much, had two or three too many characters. Bane was good in the movie, but didn't get enough time for himself in the end. I liked it a lot, but it definitely could have benefited from 30 more minutes or 1-3 characters cut out.
zamarickz The Dark Knight Rises is actually the maximum length for movies shot in IMAX. They really couldn't add any more time without stopping and going on to another reel.
I've watched a few of your reviews--don't always agree with them, but they are entertaining--and this one got me to subscribe. "There are only three of them." XD I would actually pick "Avengers" over "The Dark Knight Rises" myself.
"It takes real balls for a director and a storyteller to be like alright I'm going to make the bad guy win halfway through this movie" Infinity War and Endgame: Hold my beer

2. Dark Knight trilogy
3. Original Star Wars trilogy
4. Prequel Star Wars trilogy (omg, someone likes the prequels, shoot him)
5. The Hobbit
6. Indiana Jones (I also like the 4th one but I see the first 3 as a trilogy)
7. Cornetto trilogy
8. Back to the Future
9. Jurassic Park
10. Spiderman
wt abt the toy story trilogy?
charlmane1995 I knew there was something I forgot! Definitely would be on the list...
shane55pwnt Great List
shane55pwnt replace spider-man,, star wars prequels and Jurassic park with matrix, godfather, and toy story
Dustin Cereghin I haven't seen the Matrix sequels, the Godfather is pretty overrated in my opinion and I would definitely add Toy Story if I had thought about it when I did it.
3:29 That's actually so creepy, but I love it
I always wished Nolan had made a 4hr directors edition for fans would be happy to sit through it, I know I would.
4:18
+Paige Barnes When I first saw this back in 2010 I was dying. Still cracks me up haha
+Chris Kindler this was made in 2012... dumbass learn ur geometry
moviemaker4678 OH WOW I accidentally typed a number wrong... big deal.
+Chris Kindler dont mind him, there are those out there that still love you
Corypheus what the fuck hahah
The Bourne trilogy (there's only THREE!)
you got dat right
***** ONLY.THREE.
_Poozer_ I was looking for this comment. Bourne trilogy is awesome.
Dat voice... Still makin' me LOLs.
"Do you feel in charge?"
When Talia Died, I almost laughed
I know, it looked like she was tuckered out and instantly fell asleep.
I watch this trilogy twice a year. Just finished "Rises" the other day. I feel exactly the same way on all the points you mentioned. And there is not a moment where I get bored. It still seems to get better everytime.
The Dark Knight Trilogy. By far my favorite movie trilogy of all time.
@Jon Kozak LotR........
@Jon Kozak its the best superhero movie but not the best of all time
The dark knight trilogy really set the bar high for the future dc films. No matter matter how many films dc/wb makes they’ll never top this
It's really sad but this is true.
1:31 Yeah, Harvey Dent, truth AND justice.
2:45 I've buried enough members of the Wayne family.
3:50 I will break you.
3:58 Do you feel in charge?
4:08 Let's not stand on ceremony here, Mr. Wayne.
6:05 BOOM!
9:23 I'm Batman.
9:27 A hero can be anybody. Even someone who does something as simple as put a coat around a child to let him know the world hadn't ended.
I really enjoyed your idea of Nolan's trilogy being kind of a "What if Gotham was a real city and the Batman comics are later legends of actual avents". It works with the realistic-ish feel of the films and really ties together. Cool.
Your Bane impression is PRICELESS
“Who knows? Maybe the conclusion to The Avengers would be more epic.”
2019: uhhh...
Now that was a prediction
Samurai Endgame was great
Yeah well its almost similar you know, the bad guy did won halfway and the whole team was separated only to regroup and kick the bad guy's ass in the end.
dude I was about to ask the same thing.
Oh and the hero also had to sacrifice himself to save everyone
Dude, I rarely ever comment on youTube videos but I had to write something to appreciate your honesty. Thank you for seeing the trilogy as art rather than a deviation of the comics.
I feel like JGL didn't become Robin but became Nightwing.
that would make more sense tbh
Exactly
Michael Otis nice to see another linkin park fan, rip chester bennington
“Who knows? The conclusion of the Avengers might be more epic, but for now, the Dark Knight Rises.” Oooh you had no idea of the awesomeness that was coming in 2019. 😄😁
11:36 ... Now that Indiana Jones 5 is here, this statement still valid now...
Dark Knight Trilogy isn't just the best trilogy, they are the 3 best movies ever made.
Actually the 3 worst.
Its funny Because your name is Jason Todd xD
Jason Todd I can't stop laughing
You're hilarious bro
Austin Culver So freaking true...IM BATMAN
It's been nearly ten years since Dark Knight Rises came out. Time is a joke and we are the butt.
Girlfriend: “ stop watching tdkr and do the dishes”
Me in bane voice : “ do you feel in charge”
Girlfriend: “fine, no p@$$& for you”
Me: “and this gives you power over me”
Girlfriend: “dude, GTFO”
Me: “time to go mobile
maaan it's awesome that i am watching it four years later and your video seems like it was released a month ago! I love your style dude, the impressions are on point and your style is super unioque!
Bane seemed like he was Boba Fetted...
Batman has been shot in the stomach, stabbed, fallen off a 40 foot scaffolding, fell from a penthouse which must be way over 400 feet onto a taxi, survived a nuclear bomb blast, got a broken back and flew 3 storys from a building while on fire onto the concrete, and apparently is still alive at the end of this trilogy is still alive xD
Because he's BATMAN!!!!!!
Khoa Luong hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh right on mate
Batman could survive a wood chipper if he was thrown in because he is BATMAN :)
Batman (1989) = 9/10
Batman Returns = 9/10
Batman Forever = 4/10
Batman & Robin = 1/10
Batman Begins = 10/10
Dark Knight = 11/10
Dark Knight Rises = 11/10
Jim Halpert u no what I kinda agree man
Agreed.. Only I give batman a 7/10 and returns a 7,5/10.
Your impression are diamond!!!
this movie was awesome and it was a great closure to the franchise.
“the conclusion of the avengers might be more epic” we had no idea
The dark Knight trilogy is one of the best trilogies ever made 😃
You merely adopted the dark, I was born into it
This SPOILER made this movie so much better !
I enjoyed you talking about the movie more than the actually movie!
you’re right
Man I miss this era
How was Star Wars not mentioned when you were listing awesome trilogies?
Because it wasn't
Antwon Mianus I count 6 movies, two trilogies.
Antwon Mianus There are only six movies. There are 4 Indiana Jones movies and they made the list. Your argument is invalid.
Haward X Mendez The original trilogy is the best three movies ever made which is why I was surprised when he didn't include it.
sabresman31 "The original trilogy is the best three movies ever made" Suuuuuuuure
THIS GUYS IMPRESSIONS ARE SO GOOD
Rewatching this in 2022, Jeremy looks way cooler now than he did here, just a bromance comment
you're really good in copying voices LOL!!!
I think "THE DARK KNIGHT RISES" is an Awesome Movie!
Actually, there are only TWO Indiana Jones movies...only two.
true,2 and 4. just kidding
Temple of doom is actually my favorite
Walter White well, everyone has different opinions. they are all great. all three of the indiana jones movies...
Yep, Temple and Crystal
i liked all indiana jones movies. first one is best, followed by third, then second, and then fourth. the fourth one wasn't as good as the others, but it is NOT as bad as everyone says it is.
WHY ARE THE BANE IMPRESSIONS SO ACCURATE
If I'm not mistaken, this was Jeremy's first-ever spoiler talk for a movie
For Trilogies it goes like this for me Original Star Wars > Dark Knight Trilogy > LOTR > Indiana Jones > Back to The Future > Terminator.
Indiana Jones has 4 movies... but then again the fourth one was bull shit and does not deserve to be in that series.
Remember he said THERE IS ONLY THREE. Terminator also had 4 but I'd like to discount 3
Are you the guy from the force unleashed?
Starkiller. Yes I am
Galen Marek What are you doing on youtube? You should be saving the galaxy right now!
I loved this movie so much, not as good as TDK but very close.
Batman Begins - 9/10
The Dark Knight - 10/10
The Dark Knight Rises - 9.5/10
Most accurate rating so far
My favorite trilogy is Indiana Jones... Because, there are only three of them!
The fact that you mentioned the lotr Trilogy AND the Dark knight trilogy explains why you're my favorite reviewer ^^
Nolan is maybe my favourite director, he made the best superhero trilogy of all time:
Batman begins 10/10
The dark knight 10/10 (my favourite)
The dark knight rises 10/10
It's super tough to say but there is quite a few of them and i do not have a specific order: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Captain America Trilogy, Toy Story Trilogy, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Hobbit Trilogy, Both Star Wars Trilogy's, Indiana Jones, Spider-Man Trilogy, Madagascar Trilogy, Back to the Future Trilogy and that's all I could think of. I don't know how I would rank any of these.
Nightwing. Hes gonna be Nightwing
I think he would either be Nightwing or he would go the route of the kid in Batman Beyond where Bruce Wayne teaches him to become Batman.
This movie is so good it makes me sad that the people lost in the aurora CO shooting never got to see the full thing. I hope they rest in piece
Actually Dick Grayson became a cop in bludhaven so he could clean the city's crime as nightwing and purge the police department of corruption as Dick Grayson, basically like Batman and commissioner gordan rolled into one
Lord of the Rings, obviously.
Top 4 Trilogies
4. Soon to be X-Men Prequels (fingers crossed)
3. The Dark Knight Trilogy
2. The Star Wars Trilogy (77-83)
1. The Lord of the Rings
jmiester25 so did you like apocalypse??
You can mimic bane's voice with a Pringles can, it's so funny.
😅
@H. J. O. A.
I fucking love this movie so much.
12:16 "the conclusion of the Avengers might be more epic" 7 years later Endgame proved him right
I’m so pissed Christain Bailed on us Batman fans 😢
What?
wtf are you saying bro?
I get the joke 🤣
Finally someone that appreciated The Dark Knight Rises. Everyone seems to hate it.
I liked it a lot, but it definitely could have benefited from 30 more minutes or 1-3 characters cut out.
zamarickz
The Dark Knight Rises is actually the maximum length for movies shot in IMAX. They really couldn't add any more time without stopping and going on to another reel.
I've watched a few of your reviews--don't always agree with them, but they are entertaining--and this one got me to subscribe. "There are only three of them." XD
I would actually pick "Avengers" over "The Dark Knight Rises" myself.
"The conclusion of the Avengers might be more epic"
"It takes real balls for a director and a storyteller to be like alright I'm going to make the bad guy win halfway through this movie"
Infinity War and Endgame: Hold my beer
JIGSAW, saw one " hold what beer. Bitch please........GAME OVER"
Bane winning halfway through was the most predictable part of this movie. If you're gonna do Bane you're gonna do him break Batman's back.
I must admit. I love the feeling of a bad guy winning even a little bit. Bane was amazing.
I also love Jeremy's idea that the Nolan movies are what "really" happened to Gothem and is what the comics are based off of. A+ idea.
