    Great video. 2 Notes:
    110 ft-lbs on that lower bolt like others have said
    When mounting the new strut to the mount, make sure you use a pair of pliers to grab the rod at the top and snug down that bolt. If you don’t you’ll get a rattling sound over bumps and will have to do the job over again (like me)

    One of the best video i saw for a diy! I will always double verify torque specs for any vehicle, even if someone told me what the torque is😁 you can also use the tip of the rod to hold it while losing it with a wrench also, it’s made for that… you never know if for any reason you’ll have to replace this old shock in place, bad new part, wrong part, etc😬

    This was the same for my 2012 Hyundai Tucson. I found it easier to line up the bottom and pop the bolt in then get the top in place. Easiest job ever. Thanks

    Rule of thumb is do not tighten any of the bolts until they are all started

    Great video but one question. The spec sheet for 2011-2014 sonata states the torque as the following : 137.3~156.9 N.m (14.0~16.0 kgf.m, 101.3~115.7 lb-ft)
    Your video shows 57 lb-ft - that's a difference of 50 lb-ft +/- a few. Couldn't this lead for problems?

      Yes it definitely not suppose to be off by that much

      Yeah they should probably take this video down and do another with correct torque bc people are dumb. Honestly, there was probably a good amount of people who didn’t realize we did in the past three years this video has been up.

    awesome and informative video! i will say though the torque for bottom strut bolt is 110 ft lbs not 57 ft lbs

    • @Knufia
      @Knufia 3 роки тому

      you're right. according to the manufacture's guide it's Tightening torque Nm(kgf.m, lb-ft) :
      44.1 ~ 53.9 (4.5 ~ 5.5, 32.5 ~ 39.8)
      for the 14mm
      and for the 19 mm its:
      137.3 ~ 156.9 (14.0 ~ 16.0, 101.3 ~ 115.7)
      (it's on an optima, but that's the same)

      Thanks for that info! I have to go back down there in the morning and tighten mine up a bit more as well.I had a gap between the shock and knuckle screw hole after only putting 57lbs of torque and was curious why but maybe this is the reason. Needs to be 110lbs

    Should I use vice grips on the hydraulic arm when I go to torque the top nut back on? Well I guess I could throw a towel over it and use locking pliers.

    I changed mine and it’s now making noise like something is loose but nothing is I’ve torqued all bolts only thing I can think of is the bolt on top of the strut I dont get what else could be making that noise

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  3 роки тому

      +redlightdistrick We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

      I know this is one year ago but check that top bolt. I didn’t smug my down all the way and got a rattling noise. If you used threadlocker get your torch out and heat up the 2 under mounting bolts to get them free
