This officially wraps up my series on captioning in DR. I hope I was able to help make life a tad easier for you all, and if you do have more questions, be sure to swing by the Discord.
Thanks for the shoutout! There's a fun little trick to automatically separate subtitle tracks for speakers. You can: 1 - Put each speakers audio track on a separate line (Noticed yours is separated in the left and right channels) 2 - Mute 1 audio track, then generate subtitles - Nice you got just 1 speakers subtitles 3 - Lock the subtitle track so you don't overwrite it in the next step 4 - Swap the muting on the audio tracks 5 - regenerate subtitles again 6 - Voila, two separate audio tracks.
I'm a huge fan of your content. I was wondering if you might try something a bit different in your intros. It would be great to see a quick preview of the final effect before you dive into the tutorial. That way, we know what we're working towards and can get even more excited about the video. Thanks for all your hard work!
I use Tom Maroney‘s method on the free version of da Vinci resolve. The first time I used it a few months ago it was so inaccurate it was unusable. I tried it twice last week and it worked with 97% accuracy as far as capturing my words, even with my accent, and the timing of when I said them. I don’t know what made it work last week, but I have updated da Vinci resolve since that first time I tried it. Maybe that helped something? I don’t know, but it works now and I’m happy 🤙
Capcut is super slimy now... Kinda like Filmora. Ty for the recommendation to Adobe Express! I am generally really disappointed with DR's auto caption feature for the studio version. I feel like BMD is 2 years behind the mark
Question. Can I chose a new place for the subtitle to be for all Text+ subtitles? By default they get placed in the middle of the screen. Is there a way to choose everyone and pick a new place for them? Or do I have to move everyone individually? And can I change size on more than one at a time?
Yup yup! You'll want to go the inspector tab for one of the Text+ clips you want to change -> and click on the Settings Tab, not the Title Tab. From there, change the X,Y Position to be where you'd like it to be, and then you can copy and paste the attributes to all of the other text+ titles you'd like to change. If you haven't done it before, pasting attributes is done by pressing Alt + V
This was a great tutorial, I’m a former Adobe user looking to swap over. Also an enjoyer of The Yard, did not expect a Slime cameo in a video editing tutorial, haha
Thank you so much for this video. Quick clarification in order to use Orson’s snap captions we need to have the DR Studio version, correct?! I believe that’s what I understood… Thank you!!!
Hey Dana! The long answer short is yes, you would need the Studio version. The long answer long is technically, no, you don't haaaaaave to have Studio, but the way Snap Captions works is it converts the Subtitle Track to Text+ Titles. Meaning, there is a specific text track in DaVinci Resolve for Subtitles, and you need those to use Snap Captions. You could probably search around and find some ways to do it, but the easiest way to do it is to use DaVinci Resolve Studio.
@@itstheWampus Great! Thanks for clarifying! I’ve been using the free version for years now, and I’ve been toying with the idea of buying a the studio version. I had been creating my own captions using whisper and when I updated to DR19 ALL those capabilities went away… 😳😞 Ao I’ve been trying to figure out how to do the captions otherwise and it’s been challenging. I had been using Opus earlier this year, but found that would make quite a lot of mistakes and sometimes just would write them at all 🤦🏼♀️. So I figured it might be time to take the plunge!
@@danamichellestyer Haha you are very welcome! Normally what I say to anybody who's debating on whether or not to upgrade to Studio is: Do you see yourself using DaVinci 6 months from now? If the answer is a definite yes, then I think it's completely worth it.
mmmm, im not sure it matters too much either way. Most people watching aren't too particular about the caption style, just that there are some on the video
Do you have any suggestions on how to get English subtitles on a Spanish interview? I don't speak Spanish and am stuck on how to do this. Thanks v much
The long answer short, is that you probably can't do that within davinci resolve, but what you could do is first transcribe your video in davinci resolve and create subtitles. Export those subtitles either as an .srt file, which is a subtitle text file with time stamps. From there, there might be a website that you can use that translate srt files into english? And then you would need to import that file
You can also translate(and transcribe) audio filest into a srt with Audacity (using the plugin called OpenVINO, which uses local AI, so you'll have to download a few models)
I am going to buy your Captions Essentials (paid version). But I live in Europe. And we shoot things in 25 fps here. I can see that the POP preset only exits in 24 fps and 60 fps and its not included in the ANY FPS category either. Will POP (24 fps) work just fine on a 25 fps timeline?
Yup yup! It should work just fine. I developed them on 24fps and 60fps respectively, but if you use the 24fps captions on a 25 fps timeline, it should scale fine. If not, please reach out and I'll refund you in full
@@itstheWampus Layers isn't the same as tracks. All your Layers will be active and visible at the same time as long as they are in the same track. But! Snap Captions only uses the bottom one. So that won't change anything as long as Snap Captions doesn't get an update.
Love the content but kind of annoying that transition you do when you are already talking for the next clip but with about 1sec of the previous clip. Other than that, thanks for the content!
If I make 300 dollars from video editing then I will buy studio if not I am a failure. Why put money into something that doesn't produce money or you don't know for sure if it is going to

i just try it AND DAVINICI DOENST ALLOW YOU TO GENERATE THE SUBTITLES IN THE FREE VERSION ANYMORE, so its worthless
@@entertainmentyoutube3606 not worthless bro.. you just want everything free.

Audacity now has AI and free caption tool that can be exported as a srt file and then can be imported in Davinci
Can you elaborate a bit more? I couldn't find more info about it
@@canobenitez "Whisper transcription" is what you look for.
@davidwhoever5043 Thanks man, its very simple and works well. Have a nice day!
It is only 60 minutes for free, then paid
I am finally buying it. I'm now a DaVinci Resolve "Studio" member.
YESSSIRRRR, bout that time

Is there a similar plugin for pictures tho (like pop in, slide up…) I haven’t found any
Check out MagicAnimate by MrAlexTech or EasyFX from SleevelessStudio!

But you can right click at the subtitle track and click "Add subtitle Region". Now you have multiple layers of subtitles.
Very true! You are only allowed to have one active subtitle layer at a time though. If you enable a different track, it will disable the others

Feature request DAVINCI: TEXT CAPTIONS
Thank you so much i love you
thank god now I don't have to use more programs, just the good stuff (aka da vinci resolve)
your wearing a cape
haha yeah the only ac we have is in my office and it gets cold
Question. How does one get this handsome?? (typing this from my $20,000 pc)
I think if you were to look at the reflection in your 49" Ultrawide 360Hz Monitor, you'd see you're already the peak of male attractiveness
UA-cam automatic sibtitles makes from "Mister Maroni" = "Mister Idiot".
When i try this it tells me to buy the $299 version 😭
Thx!!
The best method: Export your video without captions, import to Capcut and add auto captions there.
I think the video quality will decrease
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Not in the free davinci.
