  • High Hopes with Lyrics
Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun
Along the Long Road and on down the Causeway
Do they still meet there by the Cut?
There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps
Running before time took our dreams away
Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to theground
To a life consumed by slow decay
    The grass was greener
    The light was brighter
    With friends surrounded
    The nights of wonder
Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide
At a higher altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world
Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
    There's a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
Though down this road we've been so many times
    The grass was greener
    The light was brighter
    The taste was sweeter
    The nights of wonder
    With friends surrounded
    The dawn mist glowing
    The water flowing
    The endless river
    Forever and ever

      Saw them do it Live.
      There's only one David Gilmour.
But it was with Nick Mason on drums.
There was only one Rick Wright.
The most melodic underrated keyboard players in the top 10 bands of all time.
      Long Live him.

I've commented on Pink Floyds music before, but every so often I get a blast of nostalgia when listening to a particular track. Tonight it's the turn of "Division Bell". As so many others say, the supreme group, never to be equalled. Listening on headphones, LOUD, the bass really gets you. At the end of the day, and I like music of many genres, from jazz to classical, cathedral organ to cheesy pop (a little bit!) but this must be one of the most beautiful pieces EVER, of any genre!! One question, at 72, why, when he changes to slide guitar do the tears start again? Just something about some of Floyd's music that brings back the memories. I'm so lucky to have grown up with this music. Thanks David, Roger, Richard, Nick and of course Syd.

I remember back in 1994 at the beginning of the concert, Gilmore said to be patient. That they were going to play songs from our new album before they played their older stuff. It seemed, as I remember, that he assumed we all came to hear their old music and not their then new music from the Division Bell. Now it's all just Floyd. It was all great.

There aren't words to describe hearing this live. I'm soo happy I've seen Pink Floyd and Roger Waters live. It used be easy to see concerts. We could afford them and bands toured near us or we traveled to see them. There isn't anyone in recent years I'd go see locally or travel to see. The older music is so much better.

Awesome song. All of Floyds, music was very well put together. and it would tug on your emotions. Rodger Waters, David Gilmour, Rick rights, Nick Mason, and Syd Barrett. all played very important characteristics of the Pink Floyd experiment.. unfortunately most music has lost its soul.. it's Harmony, it's pureness from deep inside you.. GOD BLESS YOU ALL, AND ALL OF YOURS..
