It's been a while since I tried an XFX GPU, almost 3 years to be precise, I think it was an RX 470 model in question! Glad to have them finally back on my test rig! 😬
would you recommend that GPU over a 1060 6Gb ?

Just got this same card from Best Buy, been using it for about a week now. Absolute beast of a card, plus it came with monster hunter world icebourne + Resident evil 3 and an Xbox game pass (PC) for 3 months, which has tons of great games on it now, including Metro Exodus. Honestly with all the add-ins atop the cards already aggressive price, you can't really beat it. Playing Metro exodus maxed out right now, it's performing amazingly at 1080p.
Did you tried to change its thermal paste?

One question... In msi afterburner it says that my stock memory clock mhz is 1750... Is there something wrong
Can you explain how to remove the shroud and heatsink? I am trying to install the bitspower waterblock and it doesn't have instructions.
This damn model in my rig ran 93C out the gate! I immediately took it out and changed out the thermal past (i used Gelld ED Extreme) and did some undervolt overclocking and it runs at a much better 72C. Runs about 1950Mhz while never going over 72C. Dope card for sure i like the looks better than the THICC II but i agree you have to tinker with voltages i feel like it comes factory overvolted for no reason.
Wow, now that's hot! I've actually seen it doing weird stuff when overclocked / undervolted, it would just ramp up the voltage in one point as if it said "nope, I'm not doing this, I want more voltage" and poof it would be at 1.200V although set at like 1.120V.
I'm actually waiting fo ar THICC to come too, although I more or less know what to expect out of it, it's all over the UA-camz 😂
It's not great if you have to take a card apart and then run it out of spec for decent performance.
Hey Carlos, I have this same card coming this week. I picked up some Arctic MX-4 in anticipation for possible high temps. How good was the factory thermal paste application? I plan on undervolting and doing a custom fan curve before the tear down. Just curious, thanks.
@@AaronX442 It was alright not the best. It was nothing special but not the best paste for sure. You'd get some gain changing it but the fan curves and undervaluing will make a huge impact.
The header It must a diagnostic header if the card you’re testing is review sample provided by XFX manufacturers tend to send engineering models as review samples they usually have headers for diagnostic not present on the final product

I’m having serious issues with this, I upgraded to this GPU and a i7 10700k cpu and since I upgraded I’ve been having stuttering and frame drops! I’m new to pc so I don’t know what’s wrong or how to work with like fan curves or anything I really need help!!!

I got it yesterday for $360. you can't beat that price-- and I don't plan on abusing it.
hows it performing? I'm thinking about getting it since its $370 right now or would i be better off with something like the Gigabyte Gaming OC, sapphire or even powercolor? Sorry for bothering you lol. (I plan on doing a lot of gaming on it at 1440p on High - Ultra settings).

@@albanian5525 no worries man. I went from a 1070ti to the 5700xt raw 2. Instantly I saw about a 20+ percent difference in performance at 1440p the only problem is at stock settings I was hitting 82 to 83c temps so I undervolted it to about 1000mV and my temps have dropped. Play with the voltage a bit to get those temps down and you'll be getting yourself a helluva card.
@@albanian5525 So far so good, I was able to run RDR2 at 1440P high(-ish) settings. averaging 70 fps-- And that's the most demanding game out there in my opinion. Witcher 3 @ 1440P ultra is averaging 80 fps ish
The thermals are not bad either. I have a meshify C case and 5 noctua fans-- The card never really goes above 78c.

Yup this gpu is hot and loud but it gets the work done and is also like 40 dlls cheaper the the other ones
Do you know if this card is a reference PCB?
That way we can put a waterblock on it.
In case you haven't found out yet, the answer is no. A-lot of different chipsets used that make it not sit right with a waterblock.
Could you make a video of how to get the most out of a card like this one that requires custom fan curves and stuff plz?
You can see my settings around 1:40! That's pretty much it, as for the fan curve, you can try doing it yourself, because it can really depend on your chassis airflow!
I got Temps down by opening it repasting an introduction a graphite thermal pad to the stainless steel plate hooking the vrm cooling to the heat pipe
Stable clock at 2070, tjunction temp 95 gpu temp 78

Hey so I'm building a PC for the first time and I bought this card but I'm very concerned about the heat level of this and I don't know how to tweak the settings or make a custom fan curve. What do you recommend for this card?
Adjust fan curve. Out of box, i think fans only reach 50%.
Dont worry it's just amd fans trying to help amd beat nvidia in the war just adjust fan in amd drivers
CaLi_ArcAngel 2 I undervolt mine to 1000 mv and underclock to 1800mhz and it’s quit cool staying fan speed to 1900 rpm max and also you not gonna see fps difference and leave your fan curve to stock.
So my gpu temp is staying at 62 c
While my gpu temp 2 is at 81 c

You were measuring the wattage with the entire system or only the GPU?
Entire system, but only with the GPU load with Furmark GPU stress test, so that minus the system idle should roughly give an estimation of power consumption for the GPU.
i own a 5700XT RAW II, and i can confirm the temps but guess what!? after disassembling the card then repastening it and putting the thermal pads on the chips not on the heatsink, the card dropped almost 10°C on both the mem temp and GPU temp...I guess no need for a watercooling if u dont mind the noise (for more agressing fan curve). i can post a pic of my stress test if u want some proof ^^

I cant keep this card running for longer than 20 minutes with out the screen going black and then crashing to desktop. This is with the latest BIOS update and doing DDU and all that jazz. When I put my old Vega 56 card back in it runs flawless as it has for years with not a single hiccup.
With the latest driver, from 20.1.3 to onward to be precise, I can't change an AMD GPU without doing DDU and everything else, I just get black-screens and freezes. They really did a number on it this time.

So i have this card along with the ryzen 5 3600, this is my first build btw, I started playing God of War and every 5-10 minutes the screen goes black for a few seconds then it returns to normal. Ive checked the drivers and they are up to date. Also, when I play League of Legends the screen will go black for a few seconds maybe once per session. Is there a fix for this?

Very happy with the gpu. Doesn't go above 65C on full load.
I do hate Radeon software though
Extremely buggy. More often than not, games will start minimized, random freezes when launching a game too. You can really appreciate the software on Nvidias side when it comes to these things.
This card looks quite good and the cooling is not baad either. Definitely a good choice other than the red devil.

Some say 19.12.1 some say 20.4.2 but I haven’t been having any problems with the latest

I think that's further divided by two, so you're at 875 MHz actually. What monitoring and overclocking programs are you using?
TekTick I am using Rivatuner and MSI afterburner for monitoring and running the latest drivers from AMD.

At the time, the 2060S was on sale for $320. So I sold my old GPU for $100, an technically got it for $220. I didnt want to deal with driver issues I kept hearing about. Due to my busy work schedule, I just wanted to plug n play an never have to worry again. AMD doesn't have that reliability factor.
@@mowcee1 I eneded up getting this amd card as well. Overall I'm happy with it going from a 580 8gb. For that cheap of a price I would have also gone for the rtx card. Yea they may be more expensive but I guess you are paying for reliability. And too some that may be well worth the extra cash.

@@mowcee1 did the same sold the old card for 125 and paid 389 for the new one. A week later and I find the card is now going for around 450 lol

Try to check the connection cable for it, plus I think that some versions of it don't light up at all

Yes, I did a software overclock with the radeon software. I didn't overclock the cpu, which would also help.
I was playing elden ring and those fans came on and the screen starting too freezing up so Id swap too Nvidia Geforce rtx 3060 and playing Elden Ring with no problem even the fans didnt came on too,
I just got this card and the XFX logo is not lighting up anyone having this issue
Are you sure that it isn't lighting up? Because the lighting is really weak. Try to check the power cable running from it, maybe it's loose

I got this card for 325 at Best buy the box was damage so I get a discount

Stock fan speeds? I noticed my fans were only getting up to 50%, so i adjusted fan curve and now running well below 65c.
yeah the default bios sets the fans to not go over 50% and they dont kick on until its already past 65C (to late to start up). Its also volted to the max spec of 1.2 out the gate i lowered it to 1025mv and its boosts to 1950mhz doing that while being much cooler i also adjusted the fan speeds. You could re apply thermal paste yourself but dont have to i want to go water block eventually so i was going to pop the top off. Hope that helps

Yeah, the default fan curve seems to have a pretty weird setup, definitely better if you do your own custom fan curve
