I used to work as a fueler for Swissport. Most of the time they wouldn’t mind 100-300 pounds extra. FedEx even took 800 pounds extra most of the time. Just depends on the airline and the plane. What would also happen sometimes is, given enough time, the gauges roll down as the fuel settles in the tank Or especially if it was a hot day and the fuel was less dense.
Talking about fuel, Captain, Which situation burn more fuel? Engines on high power during take off/climb Or Engines during approach/landing, flying through all that drags in low speed.
Yank you very much! Something came up to my mind while watching the video but it wasn’t explained: what value do we put in the RESERVES field in the INIT REF page in the FMC? That should be what Simbrief say at FINN RES + ALT+ 0.6 ( or 1.2) ?? Thanks a lot!
Then I fly on Vatsim I add extra 1000kg fuel more than simbrief give me at fligh plan, becouse it can be delay on departure or and hold position for aprouch
Curious... are there any penalties or consequences to the airlines if one of their fleet has to make a minimum fuel declaration? I'm sure there is additional paperwork for an actual fuel emergency, but what about the min fuel call?
The block fuel is the legal minimum. Deceleration of a MINIMUM FUEL or MAYDAY call requires a safety report. It’s likely these calls will be made due to unforeseen circumstances. There will be an investigation to see how it got to that situation but nothing more 👍🏼 FD2S
Got ATPL Flight planning exam on Tuesday. This is good stuff for it!
same here! good luck!
Careful, the information this video is actually useful in the real world and therefore almost certain to not come up on the ATPLs 😂
@@fpt9694 yep, agreed ;)
Very true 😂
good luck! i got my progress test for FP tomorrow, hard subject imo
As always, excellent tutorial! Fuel is time, and we think of fuel in terms of time!

Great Video!

Which situation burn more fuel?
Engines on high power during take off/climb
Or
Engines during approach/landing, flying through all that drags in low speed.
Maybe I can’t see the forest through the trees, but decoding the TAF to understand what timeframe it is referring to is something I struggle with.
Very generous company you got dear captain. Regards

FINN RES + ALTN
In this tutorials flight plan that is 911 + 1351 = 1662 (So 1.7 in the FMC)

Haha, yes. I’ve found VATSIM events are a legitimate reason to carry extra fuel!
