I just love that you infused humor into your channel this past year or so. These vids went from straight super informative to equally entertaining as well. Great stuff Navie!
Really love these type of videos. A couple of days ago I was questioning the difference between most producers today and the super producers of the past coming into present, and how much they paved the way, but also in how accessible daws and plug-ins are that make our job ARGUABLY on the same level, if not a higher level, than the people before us. Of course you made music with big names and companies, but seeing how much closer the line is compared to how far we think it is before is pretty wild.
You're not serious right? Limited memory, limited sampling time, extended sampling and saving time, procuring material was actual labor vs unlimited obscure records at your fingertips on the web, making chops on a tiny screen with no snap to zero, on and on. Whatever makes you feel better though. Lmao.
@@badboy69cancerand? Not saying modern producers are as skilled as older but its like saying because people back then made long, more difficult journeys on horse drawn carriages that we aren’t more efficient than them hopping in our easy to use and maintain cars.
5:50 being an old man myself, I remember the sp and the mpc. The limitations on those machines forced creativity. Records were often sped up when sampled and the pitch/speed brought back down inside the machine. You could fit more samples in that way. Speed a 10 second loop up to 2 seconds and it uses 1/5 the memory.
SOMEBODY WATCHED THE ALCHEMIST MASTERCLASS LOL. ITS TRUE THO, MAKING A DRUM PATTERN AND PLAYING IT WHILE UR SKIMMING THROUGH RECORDS IS A WAY OF COMING UP WITH IDEAS THAT MAKE YOUR BEATS LESS THOUGHT OUT AND MORE IN THE MOMENT. THIS VIDEO HAD ME DYING BRO LMAO
As a Preemo Stan, I can't say that your beat is better but it's amazing none the less. You got me wanting to give Serato Sample some play. I hope they slide you some coins😁
My brother you are literally the 🐐 and the fact that you are underrated makes you a gem 💎 To us! I appreciate all that you have done and do for us ! 👏🏾👏🏾💪🏾🎶🎶 And I would love to see “YOUR WORK RECREATING HIT BOY”
One of the things that made beats back then so good were the limitations. You had very limited sample time so you had to make sure the samples and chops were the sh*t.
Alright Navie… this is too much… 😂😂😂 No way you better than Primo, but mad respect for making this vid.. Pete Rock, Madlib obv other comparisons to do… DangerMouse, too - his Cheat Codes album with Black Thought is currently my album of the year
The question is how premier arrange his beat from start 2 finish? How they really produce back in the days?? Even with all the limitation we still use DAW. By the way, Dope beat ;)
Dope video!! I'm discovering your content and the work put in your video editing is crazy. One thing tho, I think your beat is way too quantized to compete with a DJ premier beat, even tho you really managed to flip that sample! Would be fire with more swing!
IMO this is the most fun way to sample. Dilla did it a lot too. Pick a recurring sound like those high notes or a kick and a snare and then chop the song along all of those recurrences and play the chops to a drum beat until something jumps out at you. It opens you up to thousands of options if you crate dig for samples. BTW my new tape is finally out on my channel go give it a peep if y'all have the time
Why not use the beginning of the song? Lots of clean and open space there for sampling and making up melodies. Overall, I like the GangStarr song better. It's simpler, but your song is not bad in the slightest. It has more of a Prefuse 73 vibe than that of a mid 90's boombap beat.
Hello, my name is Doctor Boombaps. What do you think about battle of the beats with subscribers.... they could submit a beat, send you the same sample they used... and see what you do with it. ?.
I think your shirt is cuttin' off blood flow to your brain Mr. Navie D. U know what I mean? I wanna help u get sum help if u need a spotter. U know someone to help u help them not fall over. With laughter. Because I fear u gonna hulk out. I don't wanna have u, my friend my dear friend go crazy over u r better just accept "u r good." Don't worry about DJ premier let him do what he does u focus on u. U r good. Yep!!! ((( Where is an emoji.... { I got an emoji trunk just for u sum where. Hold still u will like this. } ) 💯💫👍👍

I’m grateful for that too man

I didn't get the chance to listen to the whole beat but it sounded GOOOODDD! Your skill and creativity level is just unquestionable bro.
When you were cycling through the chops over the drums, as soon as you landed on the one, I said Ooohhhhh
One of my favorite producers is ANT from atmosphere , would love to see a video like this about him !

Great video!!!
Naive, I enjoy always these dope videos but Can you make a video on how to sample in Serato for beginners?
That was dope! I had a similar idea of trying to take classic samples and flip them differently than the original. Very cool!
This is a crazy beat. Should be uploaded.
Straight banger Navie! 🔥😂

Lol 🤣 navee you the truth he a legend that's all.but you are a legend in the making.
You need to change your name. You're Navie PhD of beatmaking.
It beats the challenge if you use a different part... Use the same part and make it sound like it's yours. You need to own that peace ✌️
Exactly
Man you had me for a second, CTFU
Your beat is BOMBA!!!!
Someone's gonna read this video Title an will be going mad 😆

Would love to see a 9th wonder version of this
2:17
Wondagurl Challenge 👀
Riveting stuff! 😂
Lol...i don't think preemo had serato sampler or a computer for that matter🤔. Haa!! On the real tho he did pretty good with an akai mpc 60 and a s950✌
It’s not the same if you’re not using the same sample. Might as well pick a different song altogether to sample
Do scoop Deville next
I just hit the subscribe button, because i prefer dj premiere's beat, but the button isn't red anymore... why?
You do make me laugh mate
VS. J Dilla next!
Came for producers related content, stayed for the LOLs 😂 and also the producers related content
