When a producer goes "Woooo" when he listening to music, the music just touched his soul and he saw heaven for a brief moment. It's often been described as a feeling better than sex.

9:33 One of my favorite techniques on this box, never attempted or thought about this before while using FL Studio for almost 20 years because I always thought someone came in and played it but now after watching and having this it's become so clear to me, thanks
Yessir! One of the first producers I studied when I started in 97. Still getting placements on major releases in 2020 (Busta Rhymes and Conway albums), gotta salute one of the GOATS!
That. Was. DOPE! Preemo is one of my favorites. I'm new to music production, and this already helped me with a beat I started last night (not a boom bap). I have been trying to recreate beats I like to learn (they are mostly trash lol) so that works for me . I'm using software only at this point (MPC 2.9) but I can definitely use these techniques. Excellent video man - thanks!!
Thanks for the dope feedback, and I’m glad you were able to pick something up from it! Yeah you can definitely do everything in the software, the controller just speeds things up a bit.
Premier's drum kits are iconic. Back in the day, when you heard a new cut on the radio, you could instantly recognize his hard hitting kicks and snares with his signature swing timing. And almost all the big names in the 90s worked with him at one point. Moment of Truth was my favorite album when i was a teenager, and I still own the clean edited version on CD so I can listen to the songs just like I remember hearing them on the radio. Check Premo's channel if you haven't yet, he breaks down the history behind his classic beats, he still has everything saved on floppy disks and he is saluting the floppy, plus the Akai samplers and drum machines. So 🔥🔥🔥 keep working at what you love, sista!
You just won my business, taught me things I have been wanting to know for a while, and you made it simple - you have a new paying customer, headed to merch section
Yo between You and JFilt - yall are really opening up my eyes as far as technique and ideas go.... Premo Pete Rock RZA and Jay Dilla were some of the biggest influences in my life and got me started into beat making from DJing... i use a XL and needs help making Trap Bap
I really enjoyed this video. I used to DJ Hip-hop 10-20 years ago. I always used to play Royce Da 59 Boom, everyone always loved it and as studenty British white kids, DJ Premier was God. Anything Premo, or Gangstarr went down a storm. I always presumed the 6 beat was a solid sample. Never heard the original before and never realised it was a chopped rearranged. Great video. Thanks. Who the fuck down thumbed this? This was a well done video, didn't deserve thumbs down at all.
I agree. I’m gonna subscribe to this channel. I’m recreating the whole illmatic album to teach myself the Mpc and it’s been working.. I’ve taken a lot of shortcuts through my own ingenuity of operating the Mpc but he is doing things the right way.
This video was excellent I learned so especially with the importance of adding the drums,I had purchased a mpc touch because I wanted to create my own beats(I'm a emcee),and I didn't have nobody to teach me,I even went to school for audio engineering, but these videos are the truth and always inspiring.
That's good to hear bro! I'm glad you can take something from the videos. I started off rhyming as well (a long time ago, lol) so I know what that transition is like, but you have a good piece of equipment there. You should be making bangers in no time. I do all my tutorials on the Touch.
I wasn’t expecting to learn anything since I don’t own an MPC. I’m on Maschine but this video was very informative on those drum beats 🎶 definitely a good video right here!
Thank you I've been looking for this. I was able to copy the track but I didn't copy the program so when I added the filter it changed it for both of them.
Great video! Only thing that was lefted out was that Preemo does everything 1st and finds the sample last. Which is very hard. So the process u did would basically be flipped around b4 u get to the engineering parts
@@robinhood325 well u not studying his words cause in interviews he says he makes the beat first then find the samples. Even in interviews from other producers they say they cant make beats like that, that they have to find the sample first! Do ur research!
I have tried making beats like Premier, Pete Rock, Dilla, etc to get an understanding of their process and possible mindset behind their creations. Duplicating what was done will NEVER be like the original, but definitely a great way to gain some experience behind creative processes. Personally, I can't listen to any of their stuff b/f I go on my MPC as it messes up my mental (I find myself trying to do what they did at that time and it kills my flow). Keep up the positive videos!
This video is dope! I appreciate how you dissect Preemos style, especially while kicking actual Hip Hop History, respect to you for respecting our Kulture King!
