  • Hello everyone and welcome back
In this video I am answering a question I get quite frequently - "Does liposomal Vitamin C help with collagen production?"
I am also showing you how you can make your own liposomal vitamin c, very easily and cheaply.
All measurements and ingredients are below

Sorry I talk a million miles an hour in this video! I get very excited when it comes to liposomal C ;)
To make your own liposomal c, you need:
    176 g vitamin c powder
217 g soy or sunflower lecithin granules
    100 g/ml vodka
    550 g/ml distilled water
Here is the vitamin c powder I use
    www.amazon.com...
    Here is the soy lecithin
    www.amazon.com...
I use a cheap Vodka, which is almost 40%
This is the ultrasonic cleanser I use

Just finished my first batch. I’ve been buying this pre-made and even after investing in the ultrasonic machine, this should pay for itself by the third batch. Thank you so much for all your helpful information. PS This recipe doesn’t taste as bad as the one I’ve been buying.

It’s amazing the amount of people I’ve come across in my work getting scurvy in this day and age....the culprit is they are eating the “keto diet” now of course you can put your body in ketosis and still get fruits and vegetables in enough amounts to prevent scurvy but so many people are doing this inappropriately and it’s almost unbelievable how hard it is to get scurvy it’s mind boggling....as usual a little education goes a long way....WFPB!!!!🌱💪🌎❤️
Awesome video Claudia people who have asthma usually think it is all about their pulmonary system but it’s systemic like every other inflammatory disease....have a wonderful weekend!!!!

Yes, vitamin c is quite amazing, internally and externally. And the liposomal form just makes it easier to be absorbed and give greater bioavailability.

I have bought LivOn packets before. I’ve made my own b4. I just did Claudia’s method & it seems closer to LivOn than my other tries. I don’t want to taste it at all. I just dribble my mix into giant capsules & take a few at a time. Cheers for your method, Claudia. Thanks for taking the time.

Still at the earlier part but am enjoying the video. However, I must point out that the ultrasonic cleaner recommended bellow isn’t right for liposome making. This is bc it’s rectangular as opposed to a square. The latter facilitates equal distribution which is the one to do the job. Hope that helps and thanks for the informative video!

Hi Alison, it is nice to hear from you! I think it will be good. I used to buy a DIY liposomal c from a company, it was quite expensive, but was not even blended in the blender, just shook up. I am not sure how liposomal it ended up being, but I actually did notice some benefits from it. Yours will be sufficient. The heat of the blender helps encapsulate the vitamin c into the lecithin. Please keep me updated and have a wonderful weekend.

That's Rudi, our neighbours rooster. He seems to know exactly when I am sitting down to film and wants to chime in.
I think 1600mg is a good amount of liposomal c. Personally I take about 5000mg, but I take it for my asthma. My husband takes a similar amount to you.
I am however always a bit doubtful of liposomal c in capsules, but if you feel it is working, then it is probably a great product.

Thank you for this great tutorial!
I've always been fascinated that our bodies lack one liver enzyme that most other mammals possess- which stops us from synthesizing vitamin C! The great apes and guinea pigs also lack the enzyme
Adult mammals weighing 140 pounds make about 6 grams each day, more when stressed!

I forgot to mention that I put my liposomal c in a hit of orange juice. It really helps disguise the taste :). It does however not interfere with absorption.
I take it on the morning, after breakfast, but you can take it any time throughout the day.
As I mentioned, I take 3 tbsp, which comes out to about 5 g of vitamin c
In the study mentioned on liposomal C, participants took 3 sachets. I am assuming one sachet is 1 mg

Hi Valentina, great to hear from you and thank you for the kind words. Yes, you can make liposomal glutathione the same way. What I have done before is add a bit of glutathione to the C. So I would use maybe 50 g of glutathione powder, and deduct that amount from the vitamin c powder, so only use 126g, but leave everything else the same.
Or, you could make both separately. I hope this helps. If you make it, please keep me posted

So interesting love your recipe compared to the others that use tons of alcohol! I was wondering if there a way to make this portable for travel? Also when you make it, would it be ok to freeze for a short while to bring the temperature down and then blend again instead of refrigerating to speed up the process? I read someone was blending for a minute and freezing for 2, to keep the temperature down, for a cumulative of 6 min of blending.

Hi Claudia, I want to make my own liposomal vitamin C and I already purchased all ingredientes. I don't have ultrasonic machine and I wanted to ask you how do I "cook" my vitamin C on the stove? I am not sure how can you cook something with temperature not to excede 36C? 😊Can you get desired results with just making sure you have a pot with warm water in it (not excede 36C)? and put the jar with liposomal vitamin C inside to sit and periodically check the temperature? If the temperature drops to certain level (what level is too low)? then just add more warm water? And then lastly what is the range of temperature required to be maintained during that 1.5 hour period?

    • @vesnacuric3520
      @vesnacuric3520 3 роки тому

Ugh, I put all ingredients in my vitamix and started to blend it on high speed ;( It run about 2 min when I realized that the heat inside will be too high. Sure enough, when I measured it it was 55C.😢 I quickly put it in the fridge...Do you think I should start everything all over again?

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  3 роки тому +2

So the "cooking" is just to dissolve the vitamin c. You put all your liquids in a beaker, put it in a pot of water, add the c and try to keep the temperature of your liquids below or at 36C. If you stir the liquid and C occasionally, it should dissolve quite easily.
Then you put it in the blender with the lecithin and blend it for a few minutes. put it in the fridge for a few hours, blend it again...You do this about 3-5 times and you have your liposmal c.
I hope this makes sense. Please let me know if it does

You know, I actually do not think it quite works that way. The whole bottle will have 176000 gr. of vitamin c, since we are putting in 176 g, and each gram of the C is 1000 mg.
At some point I figured out (I can’t remember how) that is tbs has about 11/2 gr of C. So I take 3 tbs, which is about 5 gram
      I hope that makes sense....
As far as putting it in your face, I don’t know if you want to 😊. It really does not smell very good... I am also not sure how well it would absorb into the skin, and it has a bit of a dark color. I would say stick to taking it internally, and your skin will benefit regardless

I would say blend it at least three times, 4 to 5 if you can, always putting it back in the fridge in between. When blending it, let your blender get a bit warm, for the encapsulation to happen. I hope this helps, let me know how it works out.

    Gruetzi Claudia,
Thanks for this very informative video.
Hope you will read my message and answer it. Thank you in advance.
    My questions:
If I do not add the alcohol, would the total amount of liquid be: 550 ml or 650 ml? Should the 100 ml of alcohol be replaced by 100 ml of water?
What kind of ultrasonic cleaner are you using? (label, etc.).
I did not find the link...
Last, I've been told that the tank should not be filled to its maximum capacity, but only up to 2/3 - and that the mixture in the glass should not exceed the level of water in the tank.
What is your advice on these 2 points?

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  3 роки тому

Hi Maria, it is lovely to hear from you. Yes, if you would leave the alcohol away, it would then be 650 mL of water. However, in my opinion the alcohol is quite necessary, since it is an emulsifier. Just using water it’s not really going to work, so you would have to find a different emulsifier. However, I have done quite a bit of research on finding a different emulsifier, and have not been able to find anything
So, unless you have a problem with alcohol, I would say it is definitely need it. The percentage is quite low, only 4%, versus in most store-bought brands it is 12%.
I thought I linked the ultrasonic machine in the description box, please check again, and I will as well. If it’s not there I will link it right now.

I used the freezer between blending to cool it down faster. And I ran the blender on high. Can that damage the encapsulation? My mixture is a darker brown color. The melting of the vit C takes longer than 15 minutes & I have to stir it a bunch of times to get it to turn clear. I used the ultrasound machine to dissolve the Vit C.
Next time I will use the lecithin granules. The powder is messy & gets on everything. They also put small silica packets that can easily go into the powder mixture that gets poured into the blender container. I had to use a metal strainer to capture all the silica preservative packets. I learned the hard way by discovering one of the ripped up packets in the blender container. Had to throw the whole batch out & start from the beginning.

As far as giving it to children, it does contain a small amount of alcohol. I am very sensitive to alcohol and do not notice it at all, but I would still be careful with children. Or you could try making it without alcohol, but I am not certain you will get a good encapsulation
As far a side effects, that is hard to say, since everyone is different. You might get an upset stomach, but I can not think of much more.

Hi, glad to hear you are also making your own liposomal c. I found a similar recipe a long time ago and then adjusted the measurements to work well for me. As far as Omega 6 and 3, it is def. important to find some balance. Most of us eat way too many Omega 6's and not enough Omega 3's. To add Omega 3 to this might work some, but I think it is more important to take a look at our diet and find a better balance there

Unfortunately, most vitamin C is synthetic. There are some natural alternatives, and you can definitely use those instead, but they will not be as potent. As far as the lecithin, I make sure to purchase non-GMO.
The ultrasonic cleaner helps to break the liposomes into smaller more easily absorbed particles. It is not the warmth that does this, but the ultrasonic waves. You can make a liposomal vitamin C without the ultrasonic cleaner, but you will get a better quality off liposomes, using the ultrasonic cleaner. I hope this helps. @@claudiaglows hi again, may use vitamin C from fruits powder like camu camu or amla fruits powder?, when you say they will not be as potent? is it about the expire date? it won't last longer than synthetic vitamin c?? and exactly ingesting GMO is not healthy at all neither. do you know what is the best ultrasonic cleaner?
      thanks Claudia.

@@ubetchafreal97 yes, you can definitely use natural vitamin C powder. What I meant is that it won’t be as potent meaning a tablespoon won’t give you as many grams of vitamin C, as the synthetic version would . But you’re completely right, GMO is definitely not healthy. They are non-GMO synthetic versions of vitamin C powder, but as I said it is completely fine to use a natural powder. If you end up making it, please keep me posted.
As far as the best ultrasonic cleaner, I really have only tried the one I have. I would go on Amazon, and look at some different ones and read the reviews, and of course also get one that fits in your budget.
      I hope you’re having a great Sunday

Hi Heather, you could def. add some flavouring drops, but they might not be strong enough to cover the taste completely. I put mine in a bit of juice and that helps.
      Please keep me posted
