Can you guys please do a top gear style challenge were you get a set budget to make a plane then once you make it in the style of your choice you are then told the challenges I think it would be a fun few episodes
+Ben Nicolson like the over 100mph/ under $100 video? or a face-off between the Storch, Bushwhacker, and some other similar plane?
+Takeshi M yeah exactly like the 100-100 challenge but like a 4 man competition and actually show shots of the build and tell us the components they used
Ben Nicolson yeah, that would be cool, I think they might have done a few more of those already though
yes
+Ben Nicolson I loved it when they used to make the challenge videos. especially the cinderblock one, love seing planes carrying large/heavy objects.
The red plane on the calm water was so satisfying for some reason.
Wonderful! A good life is full of BOTH failures and successes. As Bum Phillips said, " We all fail, but you are not a failure until you blame someone else." Peter & others, you are successes because you kept trying.
It was all Stephan's fault.. He threw it...
Just kidding! Luckily it's just some foam and some soaked lipos! Plus I really wanted all of the failures to be shown, it's not as much fun when someone gets something and it doesn't perform as advertised or sorta similar!
lol, awkward silent moment right at the end!!!! Classy!!! Let's see Peter do a review on the Frsky Taranis!!
its time for Pete to build the FliteTest Ekrano-plane !
+Nik Butler That would be so cool!
+Nik Butler I support this!
SBK, or giant one with turbines?
PeterSripol
The bigger the better ofc :)
A kit would also be nice obviously since there probably isnt that many rc ekranoplanes on the market
One of the best episodes so far. Keep it up FliteTest!
Great video! Stephen and Peter make great hosts, they're like Josh & Josh for the next generation
Can't wait to build this one. First thing I'm going to experiment with is changing the skis on the wing tips to some sort of v-hull or more pontoon-like or fuselage-like. And, thanks to the foam board building skills I've learned as a faithful "Flitetest" viewer, I Should have zero troubles!
you guys should make a Flying boat next, buy a boat kit ( tug boat or something ) and jerry rig some large foam wings and motors to it, that would be fun!
That would be awesome to see!
+christopher dodd yeah do it
+Michael Christesen a Will It Fly? Video
+Akieba you would already have a motor
you would only need a prop ...
Lovin the barnecules nerdgasm reference
Super first launch! :))))))) Nice flights without wind.
HAHA
Best ending to that majestic flight at the end. Mucho kudos.
This episode is brilliant! Hilarious, self-humor, showing when not to fly, and very educational. This takes true humility.
Great way to end the video! So peaceful (I seriously could have watched flying gracefully over the water like that for ages) then with a splat... Just great! Thank you guys!
I like the silhouette of this plane. I love the mid-mounted horizontal stab. I think I am going to build this one, but not as a sea plane. I will delete the wing floats and shape the bottom so that it does not have the step. I will run it as a twin EDF, though I haven't picked where: either under the wing or on the fuse in front of the tail. Suggestions?
I love the thumbnail for this video, Peter did a great job with that plane.
Ahahaha during that whole last flight on the calm like i kept saying to myself "Man that is some beautiful flying" and then that ending
There needs to be a shirt/mug that says "it's only foam board... We've got more of it."
Great episode, guys!
Really nice segment on the calm water. Peter, you're the best
This is such a lovely design guys ! The shapes in it are so nice and it flies well , what's not to like ?? Wales UK.
That ending tho...
do a rescue quad with a hook to pull planes out of trees. give the quad an emergency hook release in case the hook anchors the quad to the tree. maybe connect 2 quads together in a Y configuration to better maneuver the hook. :)
+Paul Hitchings
I remember one set in a castle in the UK. guy lost model and had to come back like a week later with someone else. their hook didn't have a release. so if the second model hooked the first but couldn't lift it, they would both get lost.
genius! build a seaplane with an open cockpit....
one of the best videos ft has put out, all of you guys are the best, keep bring it
Thats a nice looking plane overall, would make a good simple DIY model itself, as well as a RC plane.
Life vests, brothers. Don't mess with water. And brothers, I would be wearing a neckstrap around water like that. Wet hands, slippery fingers, sunk transmitter. Catspaws on the water - I was waiting for Stefan to get flipped when that ugly black catspaw approached the boat and airplane.
Really really cool planes, guys - looking forward to trying this in the Hudson River. Thanks for the share.
Peter should design and make an rc hydrochloride foil to skitter around on the water. That would be a fun thing to see and build
Stefan is a great addition; he has great energy on camera. Keep it up lads
I love the skateboard shaped wing floats
Beautiful flying in that last segment!
FloatTest
FloteTest
nice play on words
It’s FloteTest
14:42 DAMN! What happen now? lol Fun episode looks like a very fun plane Peter
Please develop more Peter and Stefan videos. Quoting Stefan, they series within a series could be "Noob in Worst Possible Situations."
Awesome run at the end there on the smooth water. That red plane looked outstanding skimming over the lake. And for the record, my scratch built FT Arrow is one of my favorite airplanes! Keep up the good work!!!
Why not just extend the rudder so that it dips into the water?
+Brian Willis Not sure whether that's a serious question but I think the drag of a rudder in the water might prevent the plane from taking off.
+BlockCylinder It was serious, but I didn't think of that - maybe just 10mm of rudder in the water to aid turning? Shouldn't create too much drag?
+Brian Willis I remember a 'tip' in RCM&E way back in the late 1990's where someone simply glued a clear plastic ruler to the rudder of a float plane to make it turn on the water, apparently it worked brilliantly.
The problem he had wasn't turning it was the fact that he wasn't using power to get airflow over the rudder I think an extended rudder in the water still wouldn't have made the plane turn if there's no forward movement but it would definitely make it turn better while you were going forward.
I'll be waiting for the FT Ekranoplan! Great job on the Otter Peter!
Nice 👍 pontoon boat!!! All-a-board, here we go!!!
Oh my gosh, that crash at the end!
yo i just bought it , building it tonight . love you guys , i also have the f-18 and the sea duck , 2 p-38s , a eft mod A-10 , im gonna buy an airforce. mod them all, microcontroller radios too.
Feel sorry for Peter because he was clearly disappointed, but this is easily one of the best "Flitetest fails" ever caught on camera!
Love that intro..."Sad Peter meme"
Great episode. That last crash had me rolling!
Flight test and Peter try to make a ground effect vehicle-plane next.It would be awesome.Your water resistant foam is nice.
the beginning was great!
y'all should do a challenge where you switch what mode transmitter you use and see who can hover first. so mode 1's for josh!
One of my favorite episodes!
Nothing against Josh Scott but I like this guy a lot better. just more entertaining and easier to relate to. he's approaching the magic top gear cast mix of unique personalities.
Launching the plane and running it over with the boat is the best.
Nicely done indeed! Looked like a fun (albeit a bit frustrating st times) day on the water.
you guys should build a model Airplane-Copter-Boat-Submarine-AllTerrainVehicle-Automobile Hybrid all-in-one model. That would be really amazing and i have always wanted one of those.
+un852 heck yeah
Dude I can't get over the first 30 sec of this video lol
Willing to bet this would work great on snow too
Lol the ending xd
but suddenly
Keep ut the good work man I wonder why you have only 500k subs, you definitely deserve more than 2-3million :)
+Emre Yurdakul remember this market is relatively small.
best intro so far!
it would be worth while putting a v section on top of those skids so they don't act like diving planes when the water goes over them in motion, any chance you going to build a realy big plane in the future , some bi planes ,and maybe a nice autogyro ? keep up the good work
PORCO ROSSO! I love this plane!!! thanks guys
You guys should design floats for the Bushwacker!!! :)
Cool I got something to watch over my lunch break
Glad to know your flights go like mine! 👍
Very entertaining episode! I wonder if a tiny water rudder (made with old credit card material) or side fins on the bottom of the fuselage could help the handling on the water?
Can't wait to get one!
Great video
I WANT IT!! You guys are awesome!! Wish i lived near some water...
One of the best episodes!
Really love the DIY videos and kits you can buy.
Great ending! Spin...plop! :)
Is Stephan the replacement for Stoner Josh?
+yellowbusguy No. Just a new guy (who's been behind the scenes for a year now, I think?)
Water Bomber would be awesome.
Love the videos and watch all the time. Great job guys. Would love to hear a different beat jingle from time to time. :)
0:05 that maneuver is called "The Portugal's Navy Drone roll".
great episode guys! really great!
Some one needs to build a quad-copter that can recover tree'd foam planes. I'm thinking a Kevlar pole with a detachable metal harpoon on the front and a fishing braid tether connecting the harpoon to the quad-copter.
+Michael Tricker or just make a big quadcopter that you can sit on to go fetch it yourself.
scott firman Take a 6 inch length of broom handle and screw it to a piece of flat board so that the handle is at 90 degrees to the board. Now do the same with a second piece of identical broom handle and space them 8 inches apart. Now wind the line onto the handles in a figure of eight pattern. Point the finished board in the direction of the downed craft, attach end of line to the bolt and fire. This keeps the line tightly wound and its nice and quick when winding the line back in.
I used a long bow with fishing line on a casting reel to retrieve my plane about 75 ft. up in a tree. I expected the plane to be a gonner and just wanted to retrieve the electronics & servos but the plane was repairable. You're right about pre coiling the line, that is the secret to success.
Best Episode ever! Everyone havo one of those days
Why dont they put a hook in the drone and fish the plane out of the tree?
+Felipe Forlin That's a lot harder than it sounds, especially on a gusty day like that. It's a good way to lose the multirotor as well.
cuz the hook could get caught on a branch easily
SWEET!
great stuff.
Flite Test should branch out into CoroPlast (aka Corflute) as well. Much stronger and waterproof to boot.
hey guys ... I love this channel
just started watching all ur episodes STARTING FROM THE WILDCAT ,finished some 25+ episodes .... don't know when I will catch up with u guys ......
I am a begginer and bought myself a multiplex shark rr ...
would be great if u guys can do a review on that ...
new challenge: build a plane using computer-fans as propulsion
+Kalimerakis Or a hair dryer EDF?
+Kalimerakis and carry a refrigerator.
Some guy already did that on another channel
PlaneButcher Wouldn't surprise me that someone else did it, but would still be enjoyable watching FT do it.
Lol thats what i used for my first scratch build
I hate flying on windy days you end up just going up and downwind and turning hard in between to keep it under control, My modded brushless polecat was not bad in the wind but it had high wing loading
Seaplane to Treeplane... nice!
you guys should do a video of phantom 3 standard, doing a super mod to the RC and the aircraft iself, upgrading antenas to give it more range!!! +FliteTest
Great video! What was the wind like that day? I can't get a good idea from the video and I'm curious about how difficult or not it was to get those cool shots with the phantom
I'd like to see a v hull guinea. I think that would do a lot better in the water.
You want an amphibious plane ? Build a boat , add wings
you should make the rudder longer so it sticks in the water and you can steer better
Damn that's beautiful
+Watt Waster yes, i love that movie
Floats great !
great start :-)
amazing flying!
Great video. You guys are awesome.
Great show! Will moisture/water fry a brushless motor?
can u modify the ft sea otter to a water bomber one that scoops up the water and than can release it in mid air??? that would be a great mod for this plane
(love the vids keep them coming)
Can you get the Phantom 4 to follow a plane??
That would be awesome.
+jordan john Because phantom 4s are crap XD. If you rely on autopilots to go where you wanna go you shouldn't be flying.
Just love your guys videos! So cool.
Its an MBR-2 :D Thats so cool!
Great Vid! Other than the otter, would there be a good FT scratch build that you would reccomend to waterproof, put floats on and fly out of the water?
The sportster would be cool off the water. :)
+Josh Bixler Awesome! I will try it out. Thank you for getting me into the hobby! Your videos are so great.
Tree Sea Plane - the end of the video shows the real grear stuff and plane capabilities. Luckily I stayed ... bought it ...
I was expecting the crying jordan meme when it zoomed in on Peter.
Great intro!
lol, makes me feel better when even pro's do silly things like I do :)
That last crash xD
