Maybe a very large jubilee clip on the tail stock end of your turning jig. This would enable you to better tighten the jig down on the mallet head where it matters most. To get really fancy this could even be recessed into the plywood so it can't move, thus making set up easier. Just a thought.
You definitely need an apprentice to clear up for you. Plus a woodworker apron with pockets to carry marking pens and wait for a starrett set square - which you have some where.
sort out your cutting in lines! 😂 for gluing the handles what about having a channel in each side of the handle in the middle so not visible from the top or bottom but would give the glue more chance to fill the channel and have more surface area to bond to itself and the wood?
@matt After watching this entire video is it wrong that the longer I watched the more I wanted that mallet? I don’t mean one of those mallets I mean that actual one so much so that I even named it Adam as all other mallets are born from it well at least the idea was. I feel quite sad and I’m starting to think I need to get out more if I’m naming tools that other people have 😂 I’m surprised you’re not putting wood shavings in the box instead of foam I’m sure you’ve got plenty also the finger holes and handle slot make for an entertaining if not childish humour lol if you know you know. I hope to see you at MC buddy 👍🏻
That was too long, terribly filmed and difficult to watch. I am also no prude but the constant swearing was also irritating. Your videos used to be so good as well.
Just in case you missed it, this video was posted on our second channel (Matt Estlea 2) where the format is intended to be much more relaxed and uncut. If you don't like the style, best bet is to unsubscribe from this channel and just wait for uploads on the main channel (Matt Estlea) No hard feelings either way. Still trying to figure out how to make this separation clearer to viewers :)

A couple of planks on a tangent. loving these vids!
nice work
Thanks for sharing.
High viscosity is thicker! Thanks for the video fun!!
you could use a bit of dowel in the handle hole to locate the mallet head in the bandsaw jig making both sides central to the middle cheers
Call me a scaredy cat if you like but maybe don't sand on the lathe with the tool rest in place 😂

Loved the vid. I'm wondering though, how do you make any money?
It's a great question... we're still trying to figure that one out!

That hair is dangerous in the workshop 😮
Hare? I thought it was a rabbit…
@1:18:23 Jizer...? no bets as to why Matt bought that degreaser

I'd go with a metal ring or something similar to axes 🙂
Brass/bronze/copper!!!
What were the dimensions on that leadwood blank?
Matt: Have you moved the saw tooth cutter?
Me: Ha Ha, take that Rob!
Rob: No (lying directly to Matts face, successfully)!
Me: Nooooooooo.
I like the demo one. If yoyr selling that, let me know. Great job.
I'd buy the prototype for a large bag of broccoli! 🥦😁

I'd have just used a magswitch featherboard on the bandsaw.
Whoa! $300 US dollars?
You should do a free giveaway for the prototype mallet.
😂
Robbed of good content

Not funny.
Thank you 😘
@@MattEstlea2 No problem. I mean I like the video and the way you work. There's no need to force the comedy with stupid pranks.
Be serious everyone. Ivan Drago has entered the chat

@@TheImperialMushroom That's fine. I just think taking and hiding that forstner bit was childish and over the top.
