Oli is a talented lyricist who has always had a gift for conveying emotions and stories in their songs, even through the genre changes the band has gone through. Matt Nichols is the drummer and is really good at bringing solid energy to the drums so they don’t get overpowered by the other instruments. I love Obey and Ludens, but my personal fav by BMTH is Drown. Brings a different emotion and feeling to the table. Sleepwalking is also good. It and Drown both really show Oli’s talent for putting his emotions into his songs.
For me one of the best elements of this tune is the eerie, ominous synth line that plays throughout. BMTH have really nailed the electronic elements of their tunes over the years
Ludens, sugar honey ice tea, happy song, avalanche, shadow moses, house of wolves, anthem, alligator blood, the comedown, chelsea smile listen to all of these wide variety of sounds
"Obey" has a double meaning with "oh babe." This is why the music video is so good. If you re-listen with "oh babe" in your mind it really changes things.
Great song. What it says to me is the "powers that be" are always trying to pit us against each other, but if you can tune out all that noise you realize there's no reason to be at each other's throats. Love your reactions dude, great to hear some of the music theory stuff.
Im really glad you listened to Obey. I just watched your review to Parasite and hoped you did Obey too. I'm a huge BMTH fan and I liked Obey way more than Parasite eve. I can recommend "Throne" from the album "that's the spirit" if you'd like to get into them more.
If you want to see the other side of their band you should check out “Nihilist blues”. Such a different experience but it’s still good As hell.... Great vid
haha "new band". their stuff has been around for like 16 years! Still, glad I came across this channel, it's nice to get another musician's perspective on some of my favorite artists (Saw your polyphia video as well, aren't they awesome?)
Great reaction! You should react to Ludens from them, I think it was the first track of this new sound from them (like mixing electronics with pop and rock) and it’s personally my favorite track of this new bmth era, it’s a strange song but I think you’ll like it
I feel like theyve been doing electronics with rock since sempiternal. The songs were just very rock based with light electronics. Now the two are on the same level (Think of Throne, Can you Feel My Heart, Drown, etc)
PLEASE, react to BMTH DOOMED (Live at the Royal Albert Hall) I would LOVE TO SEE YOUR REACTION OF IT SO MUCH AHHHH. I like how you break down the song from a musical point of view and pure magic to listen too. every one else get this upvoted so he see's it.
Also this was made in the heat of the election in the USA "just don't wake up & smell the corruption" The more I watch this video more meaning I hear in the lyrics & the video. Was so fun to see your reaction to this, it was everything I was hoping it would be. I love to hear you explain the different aspects of the song & why it is as good as it is from a knowledgeable point of view. What you say makes a lot of sense, even to me, someone not so knowledgeable lol
Recently found this channel through BMTH and I love your enthusiasm and passion for the music. Really enjoy you sharing some of theory behind the sounds and just your overall enjoyment of the whole experience. Came for BMTH, staying for Music Shed!
you would love the sempiternal album! highly recommend checking out some of the songs off of that album, bmth truly crafted a masterpiece now lemme tell ya, highly recommend listening to Empire (let em sing), shadow moses, can you feel my heart, and crooked young
I like how you react to music. You sound like you are educated in the feild so you point things out that lots of people wont pick up on. Glad i watched this video.
This is so awesome! One last request - I think you would love the song "Doomed - Live at the royal Albert Hall" Also, your students are really lucky to have such a cool music teacher. I can tell you really know your stuff! Keep it up man I love your analysis of these songs!
David. My dear, sweet summer child David. You make my day with these videos. I'm a classically trained woodwind musician (that dabbles with jazz) and I have to say we tend to gravitate towards this type of music. I've no idea why though. But I love it. Bring Me The Horizon is.....one hell of a special band. I know you'll get inundated with requests by them and it'll likely make you lose your mind, but do have a look at their show they did at The Royal Albert Hall. They had a full orchestra and choir with them and just thinking of it give me chills. The trifecta I'd say would be Happy Song, Sleepwalking (inspired by the lead singer's battle with ketamine substance abuse) and Drown. Especially Drown. Pretty please consider it. With a cherry on top.
If you check out their channel there's a series of videos about the making of the EP these recent songs are on during the pandemic. I think you'd really enjoy seeing their recording and production process. Also the drummer Matt is the most underrated drummer in metal, its nice to find someone else who appreciates him as much as I do ✌️
If youve never listened to it before I really do encourage you to listen to Yungbluds cover/mashup of senorita, back to black and goosebumps!! It’s a mashup that is so weird to think about as I’d never put Amy Winehouse, Camilla or Travis Scott together musically but it’s beautiful, I think you’d really enjoy it!
Having you break down the music is really awesome to see, and it helps me understand it and its meaning a lot better. I really enjoy it. Also popular monster and/or drugs by falling in reverse would be great reaction songs as well as DOA by I Prevail with Joyner Lucas
Dan Lancaster is known for his drum sound as a mix engineer. He's got an incredible ear 🤘🏻 He actually shows mix engineers exactly how he gets his drum sound on a mix site called Nail The Mix. Totally with checking out his month if you're interested.
they recorded this album and handed it to the producer of the latest doom games soundtrack to mix and master it once again. it turned out great musicially
wish you would look at some of their early work - they are so different and well just would be interesting to hear your opinion on change in sound of the band over the years
Love your channel, you are like if Rick Beato did Reactions instead of his segment of what did that song great... Super cool to know the recipes of the songs, like what they are made and what make them good.. Love the channel, much love from Argentina, your friend K.
Jordan and Oli produce everything since 2015, they even did a song for Halsey and were meant to produce for limp bizkit, which didn’t work out. Oli also directs a lot videos :)
I've seen other comments but just wannt put my vote in too, please react to Doomed at the Royal Albert Music Hall, that version of the song amplifies what they're trying to say and it's so beautifully accompanied. I always get goose bumps.
If u want a ride, an adventure, listen to their albums.. it's like visiting different cities.. no, different planets.. They all have identity, and sooo rich musically.. at least IMO
You would love love love falling in reverse. Popular monster, the trilogy but especially the drug in me is you followed by the drug in me is reimagined where he takes the 9 year old song and does it in a way he never would have been able to back in the day
@@MusicShed I get that. The scene makes the rules lol. It's because it's a buildup/drop. It's like if a DJ at an EDM show builds it up and pauses right before it drops lol. If you're gonna pause on the breakdown, back up a few seconds so we get the transition
Whilst you're listening to British bands, you should definitely give 'Enter Shikari' a listen. They are a British rock band formed in St Albans, Hertfordshire, England and blend many genres together such as Alternative rock, Electronic rock, Post-hardcore, Electronicore 😄
You should react to the song and video of "Hypa Hypa" by Eskimo Callboy. It'd be interesting to get a music teachers perspective on such a weird and funny song.
Please review shadow moses, or antivist or DOOMED PLEASE!! Doomed the live version, they made an arrangement with a whole orchestra and it is just beautiful!!

Bring Me The Horizon have mastered the art of making a catchy and memorable chorus. It's so central to so many of their songs.
And having it broken up with interesting rhythms that keep pace in order to hear the chorus in a refreshing manor each time
Agree
"I think they're gonna become friends" 😂😂
Right? Lol, "friends."
The best of friends haha

Something like that.

omg yes
Yeahh please do man, you’ll be blowned away!!

This is not just an ordinary reaction video, it's more of a music lesson
You should also totally listen to Ludens and Drown by Bring Me The Horizon!
Yeeaaa those are so good and mantra
Mega bmth fan but I kinda drifted from ludens
YAAAS
Love Ludens so much.
Ludens is my favorite song from the album
It's cool that you liked the video too because Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon directed it!
Talented dude he is
Oli is a talented lyricist who has always had a gift for conveying emotions and stories in their songs, even through the genre changes the band has gone through. Matt Nichols is the drummer and is really good at bringing solid energy to the drums so they don’t get overpowered by the other instruments.

Omg happy song is so good too! The lyrics just hit differently when you just feel down
If you want to hear a different take on “Drown” listen to the cover by Faith Marie. She kills it (in a good way IMO).
For me one of the best elements of this tune is the eerie, ominous synth line that plays throughout. BMTH have really nailed the electronic elements of their tunes over the years
The harmonies Jordan does in Sugar Honey ice & tea at the rock am ring festival video is phenomenal.
Ludens, sugar honey ice tea, happy song, avalanche, shadow moses, house of wolves, anthem, alligator blood, the comedown, chelsea smile listen to all of these wide variety of sounds
All by them btw
I told him he should listen to dimonds arent forever cuz im a huge fan of their deathcore but they r just overall amazing
