A few cool notes about this
The music video was co-produced with Ollie Sykes himself, Jordan Fish, and legendary metal/industrial/hard rock composer and musician Mick Gordon, best known for his work on video game soundtracks for DOOM 2016/DOOM Eternal and Killer Instinct.
The name of the song Parasite Eve is inspired by the Japanese sci-fi horror series of same name, originally a novel by Hideaki Sena and later turned into a video game series by Squaresoft for the Playstation. This is not the first video game inspired named music that BMTH has released either. Shadow Moses is a title directly taken from Metal Gear Solid's main setting Shadow Moses Island. In addition their song Ludens on the same album was featured in the soundtrack of the video game Death Stranding.
The album itself is also video game inspired. Survival Horror is a genre pioneered in video games. The popular horror video game franchise Resident Evil first coined the term. Despite the overarching theme of the album, vocalist Ollie Sykes said he wanted each EP to sound "totally different with their own sound and mood."
Many people incorrectly assume that the song was inspired by the Coronavirus pandemic but Ollie has since gone on to confirm that the song's subject matter, the Coronavirus, and the timing of the George Floyd/Black Lives Matter protests in America and around the world were really just a very creepy coincidence. In fact it was such a creepy coincidence he initially had second thoughts about even releasing it. He eventually decided to do it anyways. In an interview with NME he put it as such: ""It was really weird, we'd heard about the pandemic in China, but then the similarities between what we were writing about started to become closer to reality. Every time there was a news story about it, we'd turn to each other and say 'Parasite Eve', not realizing the magnitude of it all. We shelved the song for a bit because it felt bit too close to the bone. After sitting on it for a while, we realized that this was a reason to release it now more than ever. In our music we've always wanted to escape, but there's been too much escapism and ignoring the problems in the world. It's not what the world needs. The world needs more and needs to think about it and remember. You can't just brush over it and expect life to go back to normal, because it fucking ain't. In so many ways, we need to change. That's what rock music is about - addressing the dark side and processing it."

They did an entire series of 1-4 minute videos showing the production of this song and the music video.
The keyboardist Jordan Fish also did all the mixing and production.
They had to make these songs at Oli Sykes house due to Coronavirus and the music video was filmed socially distanced and with the drummer in America so they had to coordinate with LA.
I would seriously recommend watching the videos because they're fantastic!

It was made over the course of like 7 days, from hotel rooms while they were on tour because Kojima offered them the chance to put a track in the video game Death Stranding, but they only had like 8 days to get it to the company for it to be included. Literally did the entire writing, recording, mixing process from various hotel rooms.

I have just subscribed. After watching a couple of your reactions your insights are helping me understand and enjoy music more. BMTH are a recent discovery of mine as well after my daughter recommended them to me. If you thought Obey and Parasite Eve were good you should check out the rest of their Post Human : Survival Horror EP released on 30th October. Teardrops, 1x1(1by1) The only butterflies in our chest..... and especially Kingslayer are absolutely exceptional and worthy of a reaction. Thanks for helping improve my enjoyment of music.

Sykes and Fish recorded this during lockdown in a hotel room. The video was recorded with the band members separately. Fish mixed it. And new sub here from the UK.
