Golly….I honestly thought I was the only one who thought the same thing. For me personally, college football was NEVER better than Ron Franklin doing SEC Saturday nights with Mike Gottfried. When ESPN was good. Now they’re a big monopolistic, ideological woke mess
Throw in Ron Franklin's voice right after this theme ends and it's my teenage years for SEC football on Saturday nights. This theme and the cbs theme...pure gold...screw you espn for changing this and firing Franklin over some PC BS.
@@rockbama He continued working for ESPN for several more years after that incident. It wasn't until 2011-- in the aftermath of an incident where he called Jeannine Edwards "sweet baby" at a production meeting for the 2010 Peach Bowl [an incident for which he was suspended from the following night's Fiesta Bowl radio broadcast]-- that he was fired. A co-worker reported the incident to ESPN [their identity was never released], hence the suspension.
I wonder where I can find this out so I can try to download if possible! I remember this being played on Saturday's with B1G Football and the nightcap with the SEC having Ron Franklin Mike Gottfried and Adrian Karsten on the call!
Well the ESPN College Football theme used from 2000 through 2003 was also the best one, it was composed by John Colby (who also did themes for NBC Sports) and was an updated version of this theme.
Damn this is just so much better, more powerful, thank anything else they have done at the beginning of games. I used to love hearing it when they'd come back from commercial too. Who's the bozo at ESPN that said, "Let's change the CFB music."????
Big Shoulder pads and the Shoulder shimmy juke moves, ugly face masks, tear away jerseys, QBs wearing crazy numbers like #22, WAC games that ended at 2am with scores 63-56. The memories man
I remember those graphics too. I was seven or eight when ESPN changed the graphics to kind of like what they have now, and I remember thinking that something went wrong because they changed their awesome graphics package!
Welcome to ESPN Saturday night college football where the 15 ranked Auburn Tigers come calling into Baton Rouge Louisiana to play the 23 ranked LSU Tigers hi everybody I'm Ron Franklin
I remember the night ESPN changed its logo - I was in college and had just gotten back to my dorm room after a night of partying and seeing the new logo and rather loudly asking, "what the HELL happened to the ESPN logo?" :)
Does anyone remember the one ESPN used before this one. I heard it on a game I watched recently between Auburn and Florida from 1989. I can't seem to find it on youtube.
When I hear this theme, I automatically think about Ron Franklin live from Neyland Stadium on an October Saturday night.
Or Ron Franklin in Ba-tahn Rooouge
Golly….I honestly thought I was the only one who thought the same thing. For me personally, college football was NEVER better than Ron Franklin doing SEC Saturday nights with Mike Gottfried. When ESPN was good. Now they’re a big monopolistic, ideological woke mess
Has 5… has 10
Loved watching Franklin on Saturday night football in the 90s. One of the best announcers in the business.
Back when ESPN was a good network and wasn't trying to be like CNN.
Imagine that😩
This theme song beats the one they use now. Bring this back, ESPN!!
Amen!
You got an updated one with the SEC on ABC(ESPN) package.
SEC on ABC just did it..
It is still the absolute BEST EVER espn college football theme song. Want to make it the ring tone for my I phone
This was the 1999 Holiday Bowl. Kansas State beat Washington 24-20. Washington would go on to win the Rose Bowl the following year.
The BEST EVER college football theme on ESPN!
This was the VERY best. Wish they would bring it back!
You see how CBS has had the same college football theme for the last 30 years? ESPN should've kept this theme for college football forever.
Yes thank you
Remember this bowl game as a Huskies fan. Didn’t end well for us but the theme is still amazing.
RIP Ron Franklin
IMO, one of the very best play by play college guys ever.
They brought this back
For Sec on ABC they did
This is what a college football opening is supposed to sound like. Never should've changed it.
This was the best ever. Why they changed it is beyond me. Thanks for posting it.
Throw in Ron Franklin's voice right after this theme ends and it's my teenage years for SEC football on Saturday nights. This theme and the cbs theme...pure gold...screw you espn for changing this and firing Franklin over some PC BS.
Hell yeah. Franklin was awesome. I can still hear him say "has five...has ten..count it off at 14 yards!"
Damn shame the PC speech police got Franklin fired all for saying sweetheart to Holly Rowe or whatever that fat bitch's name is
sorry sweetheart. What a dumb thing for him to get fired for.

Takes me back to the 1996 iron bowl. Miss the 90’s
College football desperately needs teams like Miami and Nebraska to be great again.
And this is coming back, it looks like, for the new SEC on ABC. I wish they brought back the 1999-2006 ABC Sports CFB theme, though...
one of the best no THE BEST theme for collegee football they had on espn
I miss this theme.
I wonder where I can find this out so I can try to download if possible! I remember this being played on Saturday's with B1G Football and the nightcap with the SEC having Ron Franklin Mike Gottfried and Adrian Karsten on the call!
Yes sir that's when college football was amazing
Espn should have kept this theme for college football, because they was on to something with this theme
This version was perfection omg I was to young to even be able hear that when it was on. But wow please bring that exact version back some how.
great theme one of my favorites
One of my favorite sport theme music. NHL on ESPN and NFL on NBC in 1995-97 are also my favorites.
Could not love this track more.
Well the ESPN College Football theme used from 2000 through 2003 was also the best one, it was composed by John Colby (who also did themes for NBC Sports) and was an updated version of this theme.
1994 “Crimson Red and Bright Orange these are the colors of autumn and this is the 3rd Saturday in October” Rod Franklin

My favorite college football theme music...CBS' is pretty good also!
Tuiasosopo?! Holy mind blast.
I remember those graphics too. I was seven or eight when ESPN changed the graphics to kind of like what they have now, and I remember thinking that something went wrong because they changed their awesome graphics package!
need to to bring that theme song back
I miss this
shit gives me chills
IMHO, ESPN should have just stuck with this theme. The following ones just do no stack up.
NO doubt this was the best. Stupid ESPN had to change it to the shit they have today
1:01 the gong hits different
i love that huskie it is soo cute
Best intro for ESPN
Back when mike Tirico had hair.
Thank god!
Welcome to ESPN Saturday night college football where the 15 ranked Auburn Tigers come calling into Baton Rouge Louisiana to play the 23 ranked LSU Tigers hi everybody I'm Ron Franklin
Washington's first bowl under Rick Neuheisel...who cursed the Huskies for several years after he was fired.
I remember the night ESPN changed its logo - I was in college and had just gotten back to my dorm room after a night of partying and seeing the new logo and rather loudly asking, "what the HELL happened to the ESPN logo?" :)
Espn Should Go Back To Using This Theme As There College Football Theme.
Mark Brunell in the pre-Jacksonville Days.
Circuit city
Plz omg bring this shiet back omggg plzzz
Couldnt agree with your more.
awesome awesome theme, by the way what year was this? I would guesslate 90's since it's nueheisel (sp) vs. snyder
This was the 1999 Holiday Bowl.
best memories are in 240p
@MrJohnbarkley1000
That's a Malamute.
But hey, both breeds are often mistaken for one another!
So who's Idea was it to pair up both of the purple teams in a bowl game...
This must have been a confusing game. Two teams wearing purple?
Does anyone remember the one ESPN used before this one. I heard it on a game I watched recently between Auburn and Florida from 1989. I can't seem to find it on youtube.
Did John Colby or Bob Christianson compose this original version?
Not really, College football is wining a championship, and developing players for the NFL.
I don't like it....
