Great analysis!! Totally agree on Jonathan Kent dying. My biggest gripe. I also didn’t like that Jor-El beat up Zod. If Zod was born in order to be a military leader and all he did his entire life was train to be perfect in battle, how did someone who’s sole purpose in life was to be a scientist beat him in a fight?
Excellent! You pretty much hit the nail on the head! The only two things I would add is 1. Johnathan Kent saying "maybe" when Clark asked him if he should have let all those kids die. Johnathan Kent would never say such a thing! Clark gets his morals from his adopted father and that line makes Johnathan seem like not only an immoral person but a coward as well! He could have said something like "Of course not Clark but you need to find a way to keep this part of you a secret" or something like that! 2. This is somewhat of a small thing but they really should have brightened up the color in this movie or better yet keep the movie with a darker tone but when Superman finally gets his suit it is brighter (but not too bright) representing the brightness and hopefulness that is Superman! Have you ever read "Superman Brainiac" by Geoff Johns? He is probably my all time favorite Superman writer and no one understands Superman the way Johns does and really I wish they would have let him write the movie or at least be a consultant!
I agree on both points , superman should show hope yet in this movie he just brings doom , I have plenty to say about how superman was written when we get into bvs
I actually enjoyed this movie. I thought the casting was great, and I liked the fact that Superman struggled. He was very human. My main complaint is, yes, how they killed off Pa Kent. I really liked your suggestion (an illness of some kind that Superman couldn’t save him from like in the Christopher Reeve version) Great analysis!
Really enjoyed this one. I agree which the casting, but one. I personally wasn’t a fan of Amy Adam’s Lois Lane, found her version of the character annoying.
@@popculturepedestal Yeah I agree with both of you. She's not my favorite but she kinda grew on me. And this is a nit pick but I had a hard time getting past her red hair!
I will say, personally, I never liked Kevin Costner as Jonathan. I like Diane Lane in anything, though. I need my Pa Kent more cuddly and lovable or something. Costner is too standoffish. Just my opinion though. A very enjoyable movie. I'll miss Cavill in the role. Can't lie.

She grew on me , I was the same at first , my favourite Lois lane is from the old Fleischer cartoons lol

I like Costner I do , but there was also elements of Donner's pa Kent I adore
Glenn Ford as Pa Kent, was a lot warmer of a father character for Clark.
at 7:16 it is 20.000 years, not 2000 years.
Oh shoot lol
