Besides being IMO the best performance of this beautiful piece ALL notes were perfectly executed without one single fail. If I can I would give 1000000000000000 likes to the video. God bless you WM!
Wynton is one of the best trumpet players of this era. His music swings at all levels. For the happiness that his music brings to all, I wish him a long happy and healthy life.
"Wynton is one of the best trumpet players of this area." Yeah, there's a few other guys in the next county that could blow him out of the water.
Oh not just one then ...
The best trumpet in this area of the galaxy. In this style!
You sure you didn't mean 'of this era'?
Maurice Andre who was recognized as the best Classical trumpeter of his time said Wynton would be the best. There's a lot of things to be said of Wynton. But he's an ambassador. I know there's lots of unrecognized players. But Wynton is a master of both languages. In the 80s he laid down some awesome classical recordings then became a huge proponent of jazz.
One of jazz's most accomplished trumpeters...... And I love and respect Wynton's prowess especially in his ballad play. Thank you for this!!! :) 👏👏👏👍😎
To day the leeding trumpeter in jazz and Classic Music! (2024)
Any 2019? 30 years listening this magic musician.
In 2023 too!
2023 I’m still here❤
This is so incredibly beautiful.
from SFCA by way of NOLA I know that you were playing that with me in Mind/Mine❣️WynTon ‘My NOLA~HomeBoy’ 🎺Shalom✋🏽
The absolute beauty of this is difficult to put into words. You could listen to a thousand different trumpet players play this tune and Wynton’s would be on another level. He’s like the Michael Jordan of trumpet!
What a treat. Magnificent job so delightful to watch and listen too! Thank You so much!❤👏👍
One of the most beautiful and creative interpretations of this song I have ever heard.
First time I heard this on my Piano playing some transcriptions this popped up
You are certainly right absolutely marvellous when you put everything into it
A bit of chet baker in there
@@TerranceNgassa Your comment is so inappropriate. Why must you insert race into this.
@@dwillia6351 you are right. take it back...
No human being on this planet has ever been better. Incomparable. My soul and heart goes another place, when he plays.
But Clifford was first.
Yes, victor! He plays with such softness and so much heart. It’s truly captivating to witness his passion.
Love it!! 🎺
From the first notes I’m swooning.
Wynton creates this work of art, and yet it is just another number on this gig’s playlist. How many in that audience realized what they witnessed.
A great sound on a great Horn from a great artist.! His sound nowadays is not very personal like this One here, something got lost in the Past 10yrs.
This was the real wynton sound.. just like miles, Louis or dizzy. Jazz AND Music is SOUND . Pop Musicians have their personality and identity sound.
Hard to tell who is who today in jazz just by their Sound. ...
Marsalis A trumpet Master though!!
ABSOLUTELY WORLD CLASS........
I love this performance and Clifford Brown with strings version

Great tenderness in the playing - deep human expression, from the heart what art is for, above all music.

Whatever plays Winton,it s always moving, and how can you not love his playing!
I ve been listening to him,and his fellow musicians for over two decades!
Never tired to listen to him!
Love your music Winton!
Mario,from Ont,Canada
What a heartbreaking sound! Just a divine dialogue...
If you were attempting to convert a troglodyte into a sensitive romantic, I'm not sure you could do better than play them this track.
What a wounderfull interpretation! Tks
I could listen to this all day long.
Great tone. Evokes memories of Clifford Browne.
Amazing how he makes 6 minutes of playing feel like a lifetime. Not my favorite version of the song but undeniably beautiful.
my favorite song................i love anything Gershwin wrote....this rendition is so romantic.....BRAVO.
Love you Wynton.
😀💛🌷
At 0:20 I thought it was a CP-80 EP. :D
Iif only there had been Wyntn Marsalis and Chris Botti when I was a young trumpet student.
I do not even know how many times I have been listening this record, so smooth and elegant!
Well...I came. I listened. Going throw my trumpet away.
Lol...
Wow, brought tears to my eyes!!
3:05 is absolutely crazy. You could hear another jazz group playing a set a the same festival, Wynton took the line he just heard and threw it into his solo
I love how the water gurgles in the horn in the final part, among other things, of course.)
horrible settings for a great musician
Just the best ! That’s all there is to say …, 👏
The greatest trumpeter to ever live.
I'm a trumpeter but I'm in Nigeria Hw can I get 2 met u in other 2 be good Sir Wynton
You might need to go looking for him....remember how agboola shadare met George Benson....
Good luck.
Wynton Marsalis is not only a terrific musician he is a student of jazz history and is proficient in all jazz styles
Ernest Pappas he's damn good at classical playing he's played all of the major concertos.
I wish he stayed playing conventional horns like this early Monette. He seems to lose all of his natural beautiful tone on the horns he plays now. His sound is still beautiful but the sound he has on this video is about as pretty as it gets. Thank You for posting this masterpiece!!
Clifford brown much?
The weird thing is during an interview back then in the eighties his father said that Branford was more talented than Wynton in the sense thst anything he picked up and decided to play but he said Wynton worked harder.
William Vacchiano, who taught many outstanding trumpet players in his decades at Julliard, commented that he was amazed by Wynton's memory. He may not do everything perfectly the first time, but he NEVER made the same mistake twice.
🌸😀🍀💙
Terrific tone! MarkT
Gorgeous sound
That sound
Alguém sabe o modelo desse monette?
There blows a guy with soul. Great tune.
What a comodity !!! Wow
genius
Genius!
I dont really understand how some people can give disslike to such a beutiful played music...
Wynton au top....final magique.
💜💥

Fino, pulcro, profundo.
I understood (from my high school Spanish class many years ago) most of what you wrote there, Alejandro. Si, es muy verdad!!!
🙌👍✊
GOOD STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Magnifique!
este es de los grandes..!!!!!
Powerful insights, thoughts and ideas are expressed very exemplarily by Wynton Marsalis who classically creates an "Organic Real Jazz" environment as he deposits his trumpet proficiency.
inspired, inspired...
STUNNING
Excellent and nice! But I would like to know the Personnel.
Can anyone add the names of his band on this tune? Would like to know.
great sound, i love it
Does anyone know what gear wynton is playing on here?
Monette trumpet with a B2 mouthpiece
a trumpet
Genius in the beauty and beauty in the genius~.
lovely music, lovely man
My thoughts exactly. So glad he shares his talent with us.
Lindo de se ouvir
Wynton pass me a tissue. So lovely. Don't write them like that any more.
Lee Morgan has a magnificent version of this timeless classic as well.
masterful
Amazing 😍
this is such a pleasure to listen to and watch
Unbelivibly smooth n cool..
like Tome said IMO hes the best there is today Agree?
Wow he sounds so much better here than when he is playing his monette.
That is an early Chicago era Monette . But I agree with you 100% He sounds so Much better on conventional trumpets then the ones he plays now.
I'm high asf but did anyone hear that at 03:07? He used that to finish his phrase. -_- Amazing man.
It's pre-echo. Digital artefact from the compression
Winton Marsalis talks like Miles Davis kkkk
Winton is brilliant no one can deny that and he continues to keep the jazz tradition alive but you cant beat charlie parkers version with lester young
Sorry, Ella Fitzgerald owns this tune.
Just shut up and enjoy the music!!! Idiots
Regards from Poland !
Very pretty.
esse cara é um gênio !
Ah que hermoso
Wow!!
Quel homme
Wich is his trumpet?? seems like an old instrument . A wonderful breath!!! Man!!!!
Jefferson Trovão Cantanhede I believe he's using one of the very first Monette models. It would make sense, since he's playing on a Monette mouthpiece
that is monette chicago
Nice...this was a very early Wynton before getting more of his own voice. I played with him back in 92' Amazing person, great player and will go down as the Top 5 Jazz Trumpet players as all time! This rendition is FLAWLESS!!! Thanks for posting! :-)
Great to know that he wonderful person as well as a consummate musician!
Beautiful interpretation; sounds like Bix Beiderbecke.
Huh???? Not to take anything away from Bix, as he was a great player in his own right & time. But I don't see the resembalence to Bix on this at all.. Wynton has his own style maybe more closely compared to Clifford Brown's than anyone. But this I would indentify as Wyntons own sound & style here.
@@zonker33 I agree, don’t see it.
once in a thousand years
