Everything is here!! I crying for this music!!! I’m 16 and this music changed my opinion on world, that’s power what Wynton have with his trumpet. Absolutely love ❤️ ❤❤
Beautiful. My Dad played this when I was a little Girl, so I have Him to thank for knowing "the words" to most of the "standards" Wynton, I have you to thank for waking the "soul" in me! ...Speechless. Thank You!
for a youtube presentation (streaming music), the mixer/recording artist has done a fantastic job creating space and air. Even mimicking a minimalist mic'ing technique. a lush, beautiful sound even though streamed. The video editing equally dazzling. Gave each musician "some" and captured the essence and vibe of Dizzy's. Excellent work. The music itself ? Embraceable. :) Wynton's ethos? : "Cool"
He is a great teacher. My son and I saw his Lincoln Center group play and we went back stage and met him. He was in his dressing room and we stood outside as different people came in and out. Every time the door would open I would stand back and finally he said. Come on in. My son brought his trumpet and he received a quick 15 minute lesson on trumpet playing. He went over some technical issues first and then he played some notes on the piano. We were thrilled beyond compare. I cannot say enough about the man’s humanity and his influence on jazz. He has been instrumental in turning our American music into the classical music that it is. From three people sounding each other out to full orchestras, he stands on the shoulder of Giants and is a Giant himself. Thank you Mr. Marsalis for making my life better every day.
I was so lucky to tee this little guide playing in cork when he was all of nineteen years old. Even then you could hear this.......... magic personified!
Beautiful, Wynton . . . and how you play to the audience. I noticed that . . . conversation with the audience. You got somethin' to say, here, there, way over there. And, to the band, too. Never seen a soloist do this, playing to the audience, directly. I wonder if your father taught you this? Your solo finishes, you walk off to the side, and the audience responds to your kind attention. Beautiful. And, every solo I've ever heard you play is nothin' but creative, man. Bassist Reginald Veal played some vital 'time', especially during Eric's luxurious solo.
Listening to this reminds me of the album, Hot House Flowers that I’m currently listening to on my iPod. To me , that is your best album ever that I’ve listened to about a hundred times already.😊
Mr Marsalis I can told indeed that you is best Trumpet player of World. I'm also Trumpet player, Bandleader of Dixie Swingers Jazz Band from Lindoia, SP-BRAZIL. I see all your videos on UA-cam. This week you are in São Paulo for several events,I like very of watch you with Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, but unhappy I'm playing with my Jazz Band any events in several cities of interior. I
Mr Marsalis I have your CDS, one special of Haydn Concert for Trumpet in E. All your shows are very amazing, excellent , phenomenal... Thanks for you give the opportunity of see, hear best Jazz of World. I send to you and your musicians my personal best regards. Thanks very much.
@@hughpenner5051 Where is the bragging part? I don’t see it. What I do see is a compliment to Wynton Marsalis, and gratitude that I can play the way that I play. I would highly recommend starting trouble with some one else, because I’m a bit nutty, you’ll end up running in to me or an associate somewhere unexpected and you won’t be happy, I don’t argue, I handle things.
As I told you in February 2014 in your dressing room at LC, you are a messiah. You inspire me so much in my way of playing the trombone, much more than any trombone player ! I really hope to meet you again ...
I would love to hear a version of "I wish it would rain" played by Mr Marsalis on trumpet, but emulating the pain in The late David Ruffin's voice. As you have said your music is to elevate, not alienate. You are a man of the people so your music needs to reach all the people. There is a fine balance between the "hip hop minstrel show" and giving a voice to disenfranchised people. The late Gill Scott Heron was able to reach this balance. He was able to communicate, elevate and entertain, without the use of vulgarity. Jesus, Peace be unto him, walked amongst the people so they can adopt his qualities... Love you Sir, apologies if I am out of line, but a great man once said we should never ,"...lose the right to critique..."😎
HAHAHA so did I! Derrick said its an effect but just before he does it his face looks dissatisfied with his trumpet. I still think he was clearing a trumpet booger
Space are notes! At times (this is a great example) space rest between notes are actually notes themselves. The quality of his tone (the richness ) of the sound is energetically salubrious!
Pierwszy raz usłyszałem ten utwór w Polsce jako młody człowiek - wykonanie w Warszawie, w komunistycznej Polsce było dla mnie cudem i na zawsze zmieniło moją duszę. Piękna melodia, trąbka opowiadała historię a ja stałem osłupiały - to coś zmieniło mnie Do dziś słucham tej melodii - moim zdaniem lepszej wersji ua-cam.com/video/FzanXzFiQcw/v-deo.html
I go back this time and time again. Just wonderful
I listen to this regularly and it’s spellbinding every time. One of my favourite bands and one of my favourite musicians ever.
That's how music sounds when you speak through the instrument. He doesn't play the trumpet, he speaks through it.... Amazing....
Nailed it
Exactly 👌🎶
music that talks to you
Everything is here!! I crying for this music!!! I’m 16 and this music changed my opinion on world, that’s power what Wynton have with his trumpet.

Bingo!
Fatsacks: supreme brass performing probably top 1 percent ever.
I was just about to say this
@Fatsacks Allday Wynton would be happy to hear you say that. That is exactly what he is aiming to do in his playing.
Beautiful. My Dad played this when I was a little Girl, so I have Him to thank for knowing "the words" to most of the "standards" Wynton, I have you to thank for waking the "soul" in me! ...Speechless. Thank You!
Wynton Marsalis is a living jazz legend!!
if Wynton Marsalis can this group back together again, it'll greatly improve my life 🤩
I always enjoy how differently musicians play and approach this song. It's one of my favorites.
Joshua Dempsey jazz yum
Yes, and a little quote from Charlie Parker’s landmark version would have been nice. Oh, sorry, not allowed!
You are the best! Such a smooth gentle piece. Don't ever stop. Thank you
This video shows that Wynton is a magician and a great communicator on the horn. I was moved to tears. Killing.
He plays from his heart. God bless your Dad..I just found out.

I was so lucky to tee this little guide playing in cork when he was all of nineteen years old. Even then you could hear this.......... magic personified!
One of the great modern trumpeters. You can here the classical influences in his playing.
Hear not here.
Thanks Wynton for keeping the tradition
When I grow up, I want to be like my hero Wynton Marsalis
It's just amazing!
The music is fantastic and the comments at the end are priceless for documenting jazz history.
This is far beyond all. The richness of language Wynton achieved is just unbelievable. Inspiring master with every single note he plays.
THIS IS MUST BE THE BEST VERSION
The complete performer and master of his instrument 🎺🎶🎺🎶🎺

Saw him live at City Hall theater in NYC in 1996 along with his father ( a pianist)
He walks away like nothin' after setting the stage on 🔥
Just great
So amazing
Beautiful
God bless the Artist and his team
Thanks
Kasturi G R
I can play this endlessly while working.
I wouldn't - I'd be too hot and bothered to do so. Thankfully it's just a trumpet, the sax would have me on the floor
Sensational.
Excellente top Classe d’élégance musicale Totale Respect
Tjrs aussi classieux ET mélodique, avec W.Marsalis!!!❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶🤩
Grande!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
An outstanding musician!
Wynton...la classe,l'inventivité...ma version préférée avec celle enregistrée à Newport.
That Monette he plays on is a beast. Large bore, huge mouthpiece. Almost unbelievable how well he plays it. Absolute master!
Insane tone

Marsalis , the best!
Is there a transcription of this?? this is truly beautiful
🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤔🤔🤔 24 dislikes. Even great music have haters 🤨. Wynton is the intelligent trumpeter master musician and can show you a movie lol.
As long as the movie wasn't made after 1968.
Take your time Mr Marsalis..take your time.
Honey in my heart.
Love it
what is going on at 3:15? clearing the trumpet?
It's a sound effect that can be made by pressing the trumpet valves half way down.
HAHAHA so did I! Derrick said its an effect but just before he does it his face looks dissatisfied with his trumpet. I still think he was clearing a trumpet booger
Chris Salas I think he was doing both, cleaning and causing an effect 👍
Space are notes! At times (this is a great example) space rest between notes are actually notes themselves. The quality of his tone (the richness ) of the sound is energetically salubrious!
Yes, I agree totally. I think it was Brahms who said, “The rest enhances the note that follows it.”
Why cant you just say you liked it and not “iT wAs TruLy SaLuBRiOuS”.
I do completely agree though lol.
Trumpet 🎺❤
Last notes of Wynton's solo + first notes of Eric's solo = Poinciana
Wow, thanks for pointing this out, I love that tune
+1 jazz points to you, Baptiste! 😀
Wynton can cure every illness
눈물나네.........
Beautiful intro
6:46 Come to papa, come to papa do......
Un sonido muy elegante
Love this guy. You touch me:)
mike moet thats what she said
A consummate musician sInging through the horn. No one better.
...saw this same septet dropping the same realness in 1993(!). Marsalis is real.
🙌🏾🙌🏾
You a pretty bad man yourself!
