I think a lot of long time member dont feel appreciated either. Considering every month there is a new promo or free lure that comes with signing up. Now you can play the game and cancel every month and resign with a promo to get free stuff. But why not throw your long time members who keep active memberships a bone. Also for the love of god will one of you guys do a seasonal stripe bass box. Maybe at least while they are running. Striper fishing is a pretty big market, i could certainly see MTB or Lucky getting there moneys worth out of it
I said this in a survey y'all sent out like a long time ago that y'all need to tailor these boxes more. ie if you only have clear water and you get these dirty water baits they are useless because you never get a chance to use them.

I stopped listening as soon as he said "these are both excellent products". That told me this entire video was a waste of time. If you're going to do a "why I stopped" video, actually explain something other than "hey its great i just chose not to!"
Man I couldn't agree more. What we need is a wall to protect us from new things coming in, so we can just keep things exactly the same all the time! I take every lure or bait out and not only find a way to use it but master the technique, usually before I view the videos. The original premise of the box was to evaluate and provide feedback to manufacturers. Just because a type of bait isn't productive in my pond doesn't mean I ignore it, instead I become familiar with it so I can add it to my repertoire. I might not use that exact bait, or not the way it was intended, but i will have gained the pleasure and fun of experience. Come on, the gear and using it is part of the sport! BE HAPPY
I got MTB as a fathers day gift 2 years ago. I made unboxing videos (which were popular) and loved getting a new gift every month, it was the gift that kept on giving! That being said, I have 2- 1 gallon ziplock bags FULL of baits I've never used . I didn't renew because I have so much extra stuff.. still! great gift for the angler it was a ton of fun, I highly recommend it. LOVE your outakes at the end, that's so true when we film what we go through lolol I totally relate.

So many choices, so little time. Becomes a collecting exercise, not a fishing experience.
I get both boxes, and I am quickly getting to this point myself...For me, it was always about seeing new (or new-to-me) baits/bait companies and to get me out of my comfort zone, but you are spot-on in the accumulation of lures all over the place! It is a lot of fun though, so who knows if/when I will hit those cancel buttons...
I love LTB. I had them for over a year and did discover some new favs through them. I did also receive things I wasn't going to use but I donated them, along with 8 Ugly Stick combos I found for them on clearance when a local tackle shop closed, to my local Recreation and Park organization. So what I didn't use each month went to a great new activity program to get kids fishing. This year our big tackle shop started sponsoring the program. I would love the option to adjust your subscription. I'd rather get one every 60 days. Nice video. Feedback for companies is always good when respectfully done.

Luke, thanks for your honesty. If I could afford it, I would probably get or the other of these but like you, when I know I am going to place A or B, as much as I would like to try a new lure, I want to be sure and have some that have worked in the past! Tight Lines and Happy Times my friend!
I love them, especially LTB. It's just this simple. I don't have a fishing style. A style limits you. I use one hundred percent of what's in every box, and I want my style to change as the fish change..
No one dictates anything. They send you baits. If you don't like them, don't use them. Give them to someone who will. But frankly, they could each send me two boxes per month for ten years, and I still wouldn't have as much bait and gear as I want or need. And if even one bait they send, or one technique they suggest, works out well, that box is worth ten times what I pay for it.
Largely thanks to UA-cam, just about every drop of public water is highly pressured. What isn't soon will be. Old tactics no longer work well, and sticking to one kind or style of fishing no longer works well. To be really successful, you have to be able to throw something the fish have never seen, or throw it in a new way, and be able to do both immediately because even new tactics get old fast because of the pressure.
MTB and LTB, LTB especially, sends me something every month that the fish haven't seen. Sometimes two or three things. And these are things I wouldn't have thought of on my own.
I fish for bass, for panfish, for catfish, and for anything else that presents itself. But bass, catfish, and panfish are my primary targets. Catfish gear is pretty limited, so there's really no need to get the catfish boxes, but there has yet to be a single month where the bass and panfish boxes didn't give me a new bit of bait I wouldn't have thought of on my own, or a month where I haven't learned something that made me a better fisherman. The videos of pros using these baits are of tremendous help.
I still buy bait and tackle that I need, or just want. These boxes not only don't stop this, they help it. They make it cheaper, and they focus me on getting things they don't send, but let me know I need.
Besides, just the fun of wondering what will be in the next one is worth more than the cost, at least to me. I haven't been disappointed yet.
Lucky tackle box is great for a novice fishermen. It's a great way to try out new baits and build up a tackle box with great prices.

Short and simplified, MTB and LTB are great for introducing to lures outside your comfort zone and great if you need to fill up your tacklebox. Once you become more experienced and have more lures, it becomes more practical to buy your own.
+Noojtxeeg agreed for sure...they really do introduce you to lures....but I have specifics at I want to try....would really love a tailored box of soft plastics instead...maybe like only worms or only creature baits or tubes.
Word! I had the same issue, it's a great idea but it was staking up too quickly and I wasn't able to use around 50% of the products. Tight lines!
Love how ya stick the bloops in the end. I feel same way every step. No only do I get baits that don't fit my style or area the colors are off a lot of times to. Great video

I get both. I've been bass fishing 40 years but I still want to get out of my ruts and expand as a fisherman. So I watch YT vids, get the boxes, and try new stuff. Like using jerkbaits more often, or tossing something other than a Senko or a Zoom worm T-rigging. So I look at the stuff I get as potential eye-openers for me. Sometimes I'm happy with the selection, other times not so much. One day I'll tire of it, I'm sure, but the money I spend on both of them is pretty low on the list of my fishing expenses.
They are great for that and i have a few staples in my box now bc of these boxes

Excellent comment and very well said!...I just bought some bruiser baits.....I was exposed to them either in LTB or MTB! Otherwise who knows if I ever would have tried them, but they are a favorite of mine now. MTB/LTB are great! I just like to buy what I want.
you didn't hurt my feelings one bit. I get tired of hearing about mystery tackle box. my tackle box is never a mystery because I stock it with what works for me .

Even here, you still get stuff you don't want or need. Over the years, I've seen this with many products. The longer it is in service, the worse it gets.
I would also add that even those who don't subscribe to the boxes should still watch the videos both MTB and LTB put up every month. They'll make you better.
The problem with these boxes, is they do not send out specific boxes for bass that the angler wants. If I am a fisherman in Illinois-I do not use the same baits as a person in florida. They need to let you pick out entire boxes that are your selection such as: Plastics boxTopwater boxCrankbait boxBy sending out boxes this way more people get what they want. I have so many unused lures, it is crazy. I use about 1 lure out of the box per month and give the rest away. Would rather get a box full of the baits that are my type if fishing.
I just subscribed to LTB; basically, for a reason that you stated 'I don't know what I like'... I had 1 spinner bait that produced 70% of the time. However, it's time to get a broader variety for that 30% that sent me home without even a nibble. Thanks for the heads up though; it is good to know that I didn't completely waste my time and money.
when I had all my fishing gear stolen, over 9000 dollars worth, I got a sub for MTB, I had it for over a year, just to get me back geared up. Some of the stuff I will never use, but it was a good way to get me geared up again.

I'm with you. I received one of the subs for 6 months. It was fun, but most of the baits went unused for the same reasons you stated. I get out 2 or 3 times a week so I don't really have time to experiment with with a lot of different stuff. I am not a "I just like being out there" type guy. I want to catch, not F around. I thought a subscription would save me money but I still bought almost all the stuff I would have bought anyway.

I dropped my subscription in December, I prefer to buy by choice. Great concept for someone who is trying to learn different "areas" of baits.
Its good to see someone who shares their opinion without trying to bash on a company for another, and I like both products to they are great if you need to add tackle quickly. Definitely subscribing👍🏼

I was thinking about doing the same thing, however I changed spices because of the online tournaments I'm about to start.
I'm a huge LTB guy, I've had LTB for the last couple of years. I've done LTB Challenges, which I've enjoyed doing.. and I would love to start doing again. I started getting MTB about 6 months ago and I have noticed that I end up getting the same bait from the other company the following month.. Like for example in my January 2016 LTB box I got a Lunkerhunt Hatch Spin... I got the same thing in my February 2016 MTB Box.. They are both great baits but like you said every fisherman has their own style of fishing. Now i have 2 of the same bait that i may or may not ever use. And this is not the first time that this has happened. Usually I give the baits that I don't use away. If I had to choose a company, I would stay with LTB. not only you get full packs of plastics but I get more baits for the price. Again in my Feb 2016 LTB I got box I got 7 baits, in Feb 2016 MTB I got 6 baits. My opinion LTB is better.
Yo I agree with you. i stop using MTB & LTB for the same reasons. I'm in to jerk baits, and rattle traps ,and stick baits ,so i focus my 💵 on that for now ... but i must say LTB & MTB both help me out getting some cool baits that i do use from time to time 😁👍Thanks fellas👍
I get what you saying. I get MTB. The ONLY reason I have not canceled is to get those big expensive lures that I would pass up in the store. Like the double whopper plopper. I would never buy that in the store cause it don't match my style but since I got it I'm going to use it one day and have a little fun with it.
I feel ya bro on the issue. I liked MTB but I have my preferred baits that I spend my money on now. Honestly, I had always gotten the MTB because I loved to collect baits..... I still get excited when i buy any bait.... lol!
I plan on getting 2 boxes a year. I've got enough fishing stuff and I know what I like. With that said I am always on the lookout for something else that will help me put more fish in the boat.
+skypieper that's a solid plan. I definitely found a favorite jerk bait and I liked the bruiser baits craws as trailers. Landed solid fish on the backstabber crankbait too!
Excellent video good points on both ends. I just ordered the MTB pro version last week. Reason I went with MTB is because I read a lot of reviews online saying that MTB gives packages of soft plastics with less inside but that being because they give more packages overall. I'd rather have a sample size of two different baits than one full bag of something that might not work.

I've never truly understood the concept of paying a subscription fee and getting a surprise box of anything. Tackle or otherwise. I'm the type of person who can walk through an entire Bass Pro Shop and not buy a single item. I usually don't buy unless I'm there for something specific. Getting sent a box of stuff I didn't choose? I don't really get it. However, I'd be happy to take anyone's money and send you a box of my stuff that's laying around. I need to clean out my shop.
The whole point is to get you to try something you otherwise wouldn't even consider. Judging by your comment, I'd say you are exactly the type of person who would benefit most from this since you can't get off of your single track mindset.

Cody, fishing doesn’t work like that. The fish either bite on it or not. There’s no experimentation when they give you bait that doesn’t work in your area. Bottom line, experienced anglers just buy what they need and don’t waste time on things that make sense. Fishing is supposed to be experimental but not in the sense of wasting time.
for me, I don't mind trying out new fishing lures and techniques, but my preference is sticking with what I know works best in my area. I never subscribed to any of them because of the random lure package. when it comes to buying fishing lures, I'm a specific buyer and tackle warehouse got me cover on that.
LOVE MTB! I like surprises. I like trying different things. Comes out to about 12 bucks or so a month. That's pocket change I won't miss at all.
GregK9 loads of fun and I highly recommend tryin them out. I found a couple things I liked. I forgot to mention how many baits I used that caught fish!

My reasons are the same as yours. I did it all last year. Would use about 30-50% of the baits and then either give the rest away or fill up my tackle box with them. Lol. Idk if you ever explored the other species boxes, but I wasn't impressed with the 3 trout boxes I got. Cool idea though for sure.
I agree. I ended up getting lots of lures that I NEVER used. But LTB just started putting in Strike King, LIVINGSTON, and many more high end baits! So they are getting much better. I can't fit much more in my tackle bag and about 50% of it is useless to me due to my fishing style or just because of the weird baits I've gotten. I would prefer saving my money and using it to buy stuff that I would use . 100% of it could get use and I wouldnt be wasting space.
I think a lot of people like ltb more becuase of more lures, but what ltb does is they jam pack their boxes with cheaper lures so people see more lures and like it more. But i say mtb is better because they may have less lires at time but they are higher quality and me knowing that good fishermen like flukemaster, jon b, flare etc working for them and how they professionally choose lures makes me like them more.
Break out of your shell and try fishing all the baits and tackle. That's when you learn stuff.
You have some good points I have been getting both boxes for the last three months. I live in Tennessee and some of the baits are not as good for the south.for.some of them for example I got a large box on both company mystery gives less stuff. They need. To send more name crank baits . One sent a jig with tooth pick that is old school. One crank baits from MTB LOOK VERY CHEAP.I DONT CARE WHAT THE PRICE WAS, IF IT WANT catch fish in my area why do I needed it?
MY ANSWER TO THIS PROBLEM IS GIVE BASS TACKLE NEEDED IN A CERTAIN AREAS.
I relies this may take a little more studying each area but you guys are smart I believe this will help yourself.for example I watch some guys use the bigger jigs and catch fish right out of there package.where I fish could not use the
Jig they are to large.to me it would be better for lucky tackle box take surveys in certain area and see what would help us, I would help if Lucy tackle box or MTB ask for it.
I also live in Tennessee, and I am not going to agree with you. Just because your fish aren't obeying your commands doesn't mean it's the bait. Maybe you just don't know what you're doing with it, or maybe you're the type who gives up on a bait if it doesn't produce immediately. You could also try to go to a different body of water.
If you want to to blame the company, go for it. You're doing nothing but holding yourself back by not being willing to be more patient.
Also, if you really want to collaborate with a professional company, you should work on your writing skills first.
i agree! i quit MTB, because i could jus spend the money to get what i want to get instead piling of bunch of lures that i don't use. i have specific stuff that i fish for and only fish for is bass. i like how you came out with the video. great video man
I think the boxes are great but they get old if it's every month, like every other months or one box for winter, summer, fall, spring. You lose the feeling of a "Christmas present" when you get things you don't need or won't use.

Feel the same about the mtb and ltb though I have not tried ltb. My mtb pro boxes usually comes in something bizarre. I'm from the Carolinas and the lures I receive are just ridiculously big or off color from the bodies of water I fish. I feel as I rather spend that money and buy 5-7 packs of middle baits than to receive a product that's not usable. Ive been bass fishing for a long time since I was 12 till 25 now and some of the products are just not me. Great video BTW.

Had MTB for 6 months and now sub to LTB ( got both in Jan. ) I'm concentrating on Bass now and they gave me a great opportunity to try new baits and new techniques. I have to say I hadn't kept up with the times until now.
I use to get both but i cant afford them now. I like LTB. They actually sent me another box at no charge after i told them i got a repeated box.
Thanks for sharing your opinion and being you. I person would like see other things with fishing like maybe in the beginning of summer some sun screen protection, tools, clothing, hand warmer in winter, Hook remover, etc.

I did LTB and my brother did MTB and we both thought they were cool but I felt I did better. I personally got some new things and became a loyal customer to some of the tackle companies. Our problem was also due to things stacking up. As Western Washington Bass anglers we were getting stuff we would likely never use and this is the stuff that stacked up. I just did LTB again for the first time in 2 years and enjoyed it, I will keep it going for a few months. I would rather spend my money on Bass University during the off season and get lures at a time when I can get up the next morning and try them.

I think that MTB and LTB are good for getting someone started in fishing or maybe someone who has been fishing for a short period and want to try different things but they can't spend $15 on a crankbait. I have thought about getting one or the other but I haven't yet, hopefully I can soon. I've seen videos from several different youtubers that are doing the slams and I wish I had the bait that they got in their box. But I do see how it can build up, if you get both boxes at the same time every month, then the baits would pile up and maybe only use 3 or 4 from both boxes combined.

I cancelled both my boxes... Ltb was consistent with sending me the same baits all the time... I thought Mtb was better but was very disappointed in the Elite Box so I cancelled both. For the money I was spending I’ll buy what I need

I stopped because when I started I was pretty new to the sport and after getting many lures and trying different things I found what I liked and what worked good for me so getting all these baits that I would never use was becoming a waste of money

Aloha from Hawai'i. Great video. I too tried MTB the saltwater specific one but found that the contents were really not in tuned with Hawaiian style fishing and Hawai'i's many unique fish species. I forgot to cancel right away so they're sending me another box. For $14.99 x 12 that's $179.88. I don't spend that much on Hawai'i specific tackle all all year so even though MTB a bargain, and quality tackle I won't use but 25% so not a deal for me. Mahalo nui, Ji

Well I have never used either but I follow both on social media. Well not lucky tackle box anymore since they said I won their giveaway on Instagram, a 6 month XL box subscription and days later they deleted the post. They said it must have been a mistake after I reached out to them on Facebook, where they posted the same giveaway. I wish I could remember the guys name who tagged me I won, besides lucky tackle box who tagged me I won.

I disagree with you man. In my opinion MTB and LTB are excellent. The point of them is to expand your variety of your tackle and fish new things that normally you wouldn’t buy from the store, and it saves you tons of money!

Interesting commentary. A lot of the folks I subscribe to post MTB or LTB unboxing reviews and sometimes engage in trying to catch something on all of the lures so I'm familiar with what these products do: introduce new and interesting things. I've not subscribed to either because my lure acquisition process is one of first gathering information about a type of lure or rig that works in my area at the time of year and/or in the specific places I fish. Sources of information are friends, magazine articles, YT videos, my own logs and years of trial and error. Like most life-long anglers, there's dozens of lucky boxes on my shelves: Tubes, worms, jigs, grubs, lizards, cranks, top waters, etc, etc, etc, All things that have or will work at the right time and right place....but you never know for sure and that's why the sport is called "fishing" and not "catching" (ha) and thus mandates bringing several potential selections every time! :) Don

Seems like lately I have been getting duplicate lures from both companys. Seems like I use one or two baits from each box. I am better off just going to local store or a retail store. I catch tons of bass on crankbaits, but only get 1 or 2 a month. Better off to just go buy crankbaits $20 month at a store.
I agree, might order a box now or then again.
The thing I hate about LTB is that it’s prepaid I oredered on February 7th and and still waiting till March 8th I’m so anxious
I've never used either product. I'm way too picky and particular about my tackle. I just go to academy or Tackle Warehouse and get what I want. The lakes and rivers I live by are very tough fisheries so I can't afford to get baits that I'm not sure of. That's just me though.

I don't have an opinion based on LTB since I have never received one. But I do love MTB. One of the aspect of these boxes that MTB says is that it gets you to get out of your comfort zone and try baits you would never buy on your own. If it wasn't for MTB I would have never tried a shaky head or a drop shot and I ended up really enjoying both. With the baits I don't use, use them in a give away to our subscribers. Killing two birds with one stone in my opinion.

You should try the googan baits I can say that I have caught more fish on these baits my go to bait is the senko lunker logs

Steve Tucker I really did use the baits....can't....say I've picked up anything new though.
I had a 6 month for mtb as a gift and while i liked it, the reason i didnt continue, was it seemed for every 2 decent lures, there was one gimmicky, cheap, never heard of name brand that was usually a dud. To me, its not worth it because i could just go buy the 2 decent lures at anout the same value, and avoid the dud. And i would get to pick what colors etc. i think mtb does a pretty good job, but maybe focuses on VALUE ( 50 dollars in a 25 dollar box!) versus 25 dollars of solid stuff.

I had a LTB subscription for 6 months for the same reasons. I am interested in new baits but not necessarily everything that comes in the boxes.

I still have a bit leftover that I haven't tried. That is in large part since I was living around Amarillo and not fishing much 2 years ago. Now I"m back in Central Texas though and I've been thinking about doing another 3-6 months.

No MTB for me here in Florida. Have no need for deep diving crank baits that lurk in 12' of water when our lakes are shallow.
+Hazama Yakiba places I fish in Delaware are the same! 8' max in some places. Luckily I travel and do have access to some deep reservoirs but I just got so much I never used.
great video I used to get both like you said and after about a year I noticed the same baits where being sent to me and i thought well what's the point in this? not only that they where in the same color so I knew they where just recycling baits at that point and I thought what's the point in this I'll just save my 50 bucks a month of baits I actually want. these boxes.are great for beginners and people who don't care if they get the same stuff over and over again.

oh yeah i mean i got some lucky craft hard baits out of them and they are awesome i would go diving for them but as for others...nah they can stay in the lake. I'm a brand new sub btw just wanted to say the content it great keep up the good work.
Loved LTB XL but never once in 6months did I ever receive all stated baits. Every month I was missing a bait and it was replaced with a bait from previous box. Idk kinda ticked me off so unsubscribed two days ago. I did get some awesome lures though and would probably go back once they get more consistent and accurate. Good vids man, keep'em coming.
Never understood either of these products. $ grab by these companies.
With all the fishing knowledge/vids on UA-cam, sub to people in your fishing area, watch what they use, go to your local store or tacklewarehouse once a week and pickup/try a new technique-bait.
