I was excited to see the title for your video! I have been an avid journaler/planner/doodler since I was 8 and I am 50 now. I use one notebook for every thing aside from having a month on two pages for the whole year to keep track of all important events. I buy 50gsm blank sheets from any grocery store and make my own notebooks. I started watching journaling/planning YT videos around 2013. It used to be fun because people were doing diy stuff and sharing their love of the craft. Over time especially the last few years I've noticed a trend of expensive leather cover collections and expensive name brand planners and notebooks even stickers, fountain pens and highlighters. What's worse is that every video now is another complaint about the wasted money, planners and the misery of being discontent.....Sorry, I got ranting. Your video was refreshing and I appreciate that. Enjoy the journey!
This is the video I was looking for. 2023 was a mess for me. I ended up trying way too many planners and now I have my year in many notebooks and I really don't like that. Also, using multiple planners at once makes me forget about stuff, lol. I'm also using only the hobo cousin for 2024. I'm waiting to see how you use it for inspiration. Thank you!
I have always used one planner. I couldn't imagine having more than one it would get so confusing! Yes having everything in one place is key. I love your chunky books from past years.❤
I love this. In 2023, I spent money on 8 planners and only used 4 of them. For 2024, I'm forcing myself to use only 2 planners. I want to challenge myself to make it work.
Tbh, I was never a planner. I never noted down anything. I could keep all my deadlines, appointments and events in my head. Getting older also means you can't remember everything anymore. Tbh, I don't know how that happened, one day I had everything in my head and the next day I needed to to write down everything otherwise it would be gone. Having said that, I thought that I found my planner with the Bullet Journal, but after 2 years I noticed that it was too much. I didn't have the patience to set up my calendars every month. So I went and looked for another solution and found Hobonichi. First I used a Weeks at work and a Cousin as EDC, but this thing gets heavy over they the year so in 2024 the Cousin will stay at my desk at home for journaling and for the EDC I use the A6. I'm curious how this will work out.
I need a planner to keep me mentally sane. And then I think it would be cool te have reading planner, or a separate journal or whatever planner. Maybe because of all the planner videos, I think that's the way to go. But I get so overwhelmed I end up using none of them. I was happy to discover the hobonichi (first timer) that I could fit everything in. And even now I was 'Maybe I need a separate budget planner'. But you're right I don't. I just need 1 planner 🙃
I feel the same way! I love to color code certain compartments for easy locating in a day (like work is always orange and homemaking is green and pink is for parenting and purple is for my personal things). Multiple planners just don't work for me. I have a diary and Notion (digital) to keep everything organized as a writer, full time parent, and YTer and that's it. I prefer physical planners but digital is just better for this phase of life I'm in right now. Maybe one day I'll get back to physical journalling and try multiple again.
Okay, this made me buy a hobo cousin! Sold! I actually purchased a weekly first in the Makoto cover because that cover is so illegally beautiful, I'm glad it existed. My biggest problem is the weekly might not be the right fit for someone like me who owns a small business and working from home. I'm glad I stumbled into this so I cancelled the weekly now and waiting for the cousin instead.

So happy you're back on this channel 🥰 ended up not commenting on your last vlog, I loved the planner videos 🎉
same. ive always used one planner per year. except for this year, where i had to buy an additional planner for work because i didnt have enough room in my 2023 planner. moving back to one planner for 2024. i dont understand planner hopping. i get so stressed out just thinking about it. its like being an army kid constantly moving to a new city and going to a new school.
You're so right about only needing one planner. I think with youtube and instagram, a lot of it is Fomo. I ended up with two this year but one is weekly and one daily and I definately don't need more.
I spend so much money buying different planner and always come back to Hobonichi. I like cousin for Monthly, weeks and journaling daily pages. Weeks I can just throw in my purse. I need to stay with what I like and stop spending on other planners end up not working or liking. Thanks for the video.
Lol~I had to reduce the speed to 0.75x to be able to follow your speaking speed. I’m wondering if it is the video settings or your actual speech 😂 love the video btw!
Love this!! I had the weeks last year but felt it wasn’t enough, so this year tried a A6 techo, again didn’t feel that was enough room & I missed my weeks but didn’t want multiple planners…. so I got the Hon…. And omg I love it, I use the vertical as I did the weeks and then have more room to journal & memory keep on day pages, so much better than multiple planners! 🙌🏼💗
I love this planner so much!! I have been eyeballing it and everything youre saying makes me want it more! I have a hobo a6 spring start right now so it has pages through march and ive been using that to keep me from jumping on the new releases... but some days it feels too small and sometimes i think wow I would love a weekly spread this week... You're so right about only needing one book but im so on the fence about which book still lol
Glad to find someone else enjoying one planner ,I decided to use one undated planner this month and customize it according to my needs (it is A5 binder ),and i am in love❤❤❤,i am also using notes app ,i think i can use one planner for up to 2 years , thank u for sharing
Love your video ❤ For me hobonichi weeks is my absolute favorite 🥰 On my 4th year in 2024. I agree. You only need one planner. I use weeks for almost everything. I have another planner, only because I bring my health planner to my doctor. My weeks is a hot mess so I like having a more "cleaner" planner to bring to my doctor😂🤭
I love this idea. Wish I could do this. Having a chronic illness, I need the weeks to log symptoms and dr notes, rx refills & not have them get buried in e.d life in the edc. One year I will figure out one planner system.
Finely someone like me! I love use just one planner! But some times I fill a weirdo wen I see some UA-camrs using 10 planners, full os content ❤ tank you
For the most part I am a one planner girlie too. I don't keep up with everything if it isnt in the same book, i try other things like for journalling but really I am most consistent with an all in one. I use the sterling ink common planner which is just like the hobonichi but minimal and comes in an undated version so I can use my own language in it (not english or japanese). I have been using a weekly planner kinda like a weeks for a reading journal, I meant to use the monthly pages to paste in book covers and back pages for reviews and TBR lists and stuff. But I only use the weeks pages to write down when i start and finish a book. I do put quotes or thoughts on the blank pages sometimes but not every book. It's pretty sparse but I have used it consistently. Haven't figured out how to get that info into my current planner yet for next year. If I don't I am gonna end up with anther weekly planner or insert for reading.
I agree with you almost 100%. But I find an A5, my preferred size, too heavy and bulky to carry around. So I am thinking about getting a H Weeks just for an EDC for appointments and notes made on the sport during appointments or while out of the house.
Hey my friend introduced me to hobonichi last year by gifting me a weeks. I totally agree with you! I would love to see an end of the year review to see how much the HON bulks up, i ended up getting the cousin just because I was worried about that! I did also purchase an A6 because I didnt want my work stuff to go in my personal planner.
I like the idea of having everything in one planner but I need to have different things in different sizes for 2024. An A5 would be too big at work, but it would be too small for everything else in my life. I am using some of my stash in 2024 to track projects that might span multiple years. Also, I like to have a weekly and daily view open while at my desk. Right now I have the A6 Hobonichi Techo Avec with the weekly supplement and a pocket Moleskine to be my "portable" planner. I have a cheap Happy Planner dashboard layout that I keep in the kitchen as a "family planner". I am setting up A5 rings as a reference/project binder as part of my "professional" planning system. I will probably get another Jibun Techo Biz because I really like those planners.
Hi! I'm wondering how it's going for you in the Hon. I almost switched to one from my usual Cousin, but I feel I would really miss the cover, with it's places to put things, and the (attached) pen loops. Would love to hear an update from you! ❤
I got a planner for my personal life, and another planner (a Midori Stand+ Diary) for my work projects. I think the reason I never get an A5-sized planner is because the size daunts me. Too much space to fill. 🙂 Cheers!
I like this video but I think it should be called “why I only need …” not “why you only need ….” Everyone’s lives and brains are different as well as what we want from our planners
I fell deep down the hole of the Happy Planner brand and buying all the things. Then I found the Passion Planner, and it worked great. I was intrigued by the back pages and the room for creativity it offered. But then my impulsive self continued to buy buy buy. I have so much anxiety over all the planners I have “setup” for 2024 and we are three days in. 🥹Some I bought because the images were cute. Some I bought on a freak out whim thinking I had a medical condition I needed to track in a detailed manner…. Turns out I don’t. Now I have product I likely won’t use because I think my passion planner is going to be my chosen ONE. ANY WHO, any advice on how to stop beating myself up over purchases I can’t return would be awesome. 😂

I did the same thing with changing planners all the time.
@@kcombs100 hopefully 2024 will be better 💕
I have always used one planner. I couldn't imagine having more than one it would get so confusing! Yes having everything in one place is key. I love your chunky books from past years.❤
Absolutely agree one planner really is enough.
I love this. In 2023, I spent money on 8 planners and only used 4 of them. For 2024, I'm forcing myself to use only 2 planners. I want to challenge myself to make it work.
I’m a one planner person so I’ve been getting overwhelmed watching videos.

I like the month, week , day options. One planner .. several journals.. 😊
The look of his planner is very pleasing.

OMG OMG OMG A PLAN WITH CHAN!!! And we got the same planner for 2024 😏 I knew you had impeccable taste but this solidifies it for me 😂
same. ive always used one planner per year. except for this year, where i had to buy an additional planner for work because i didnt have enough room in my 2023 planner. moving back to one planner for 2024. i dont understand planner hopping. i get so stressed out just thinking about it. its like being an army kid constantly moving to a new city and going to a new school.

I love how simple the Hobonichi is. That’s why I finally gotta one and a cover for it.
I can’t be more agreed
Some people just have many planners for the record and to put a lot of stickers
I spend so much money buying different planner and always come back to Hobonichi. I like cousin for Monthly, weeks and journaling daily pages. Weeks I can just throw in my purse. I need to stay with what I like and stop spending on other planners end up not working or liking. Thanks for the video.
I wish I saw this before I spent all that money on inserts for my a5 rings.
Lol~I had to reduce the speed to 0.75x to be able to follow your speaking speed. I’m wondering if it is the video settings or your actual speech 😂 love the video btw!
Omg yes she speaks sooo fast ! 😂 I wonder if someone naturally does that or do you learn to talk fast as you get older lol ? Idk 😅
SURPRISE PLAN WITH CHAN VIDEO THIS ABSOLUTELY MADE MY DAY 🫶
thanks for watchin
YAY PLAN WITH CHAN

Same! I was so surprised. 😁

yaya so happy to see you back on this channel!! ❤
I love this cover and am contemplating getting one. How do you like the hard cover, this will be my first hobonichi from a Leucctturm 1917.
Hi! I'm wondering how it's going for you in the Hon. I almost switched to one from my usual Cousin, but I feel I would really miss the cover, with it's places to put things, and the (attached) pen loops. Would love to hear an update from you! ❤
I love the cousin so much. But it's so big and gets so bulky.. 😅 therefore next year it's going to be an A6 with an weekly insert 😂❤
Your nails are so pretty! 😍
Did you buy a clear cover for this one. I can't find one on amazon to fit the Hon specifically? If you have do you have a link.
I need everything separate
Can you do a flip through your 2023 ?
I got a planner for my personal life, and another planner (a Midori Stand+ Diary) for my work projects. I think the reason I never get an A5-sized planner is because the size daunts me. Too much space to fill. 🙂 Cheers!
Enjoyed this content! I did have to slow it down some. Was the footage sped up?
Where do you get your monthly clear tabs?
the ones i have are a creamy hard plastic, they're from StickyMonster on etsy
❤❤❤
I only have one planner which includes my reading journal with detailed reviews, so I totally feel you. However, please slowwwwww down speaking!
Why does the audio go so fast???
I like this video but I think it should be called “why I only need …” not “why you only need ….” Everyone’s lives and brains are different as well as what we want from our planners
Totally agree!
I loved the video just slow down with speaking 😊
no thanks!
Love the response! 😂
This video is sped up?
