Hi Gina, I just found your video. Thanks for the help. I am a bit disappointed in myself for not collecting previous campaigns and metrics from companies I worked for as I no longer have access to these and all I have is personal photography projects and public facing Instagram posts. How can you still build a good portfolio without this content?
I would still include your approach to different campaigns to give insight. An example would be along the lines of analyzed previous campaigns and saw strong engagement with campaign creative but below benchmark CVR so you focused the campaign on highlighting value proposition.

I recently took an SEO course. Watched your Wix portfolio builder video and did my own portfolio. I had it evaluated and this person suggested I not use Wix at all, but WordPress instead for my portfolio. Overall you were right Wix is easier and I hate WordPress.
It was not a good review at all. As I think 🤔 about it...I think he was suggesting an audited SEO website and adding case studies to the portfolio.
This is my increasing, yet problematic issue with this SEO-digital marketing arena. Job postings, getting an internships or training, volunteering work...they all want extreme experience.
How can you feature experience on a resume -case studies, etc...when I have nothing?
I am in dire state need for a job. Due to the pandemic, I thought SEO would be promising career change. But getting into it is a challenge.
Even the last course I took the guy really did not show you how to do a resume/portfolio with out experience or entry level. So how do one progress and get an internship or a job at this point? HELP 🥺

It sounds like you have experience building a site, optimizing a site, and taking courses. All of that is experience. So I would focus your resume around skills and how you’ve leveraged them instead of job experiences. Make the bulk of your 1-page resume called Skills and have a small section at the bottom called Experience. For Skills each bullet should outline your process to show how you use those skills. For eg. Keyword Research and then explain your process.

In the US, everyone wants experience, even as an intern. It's a challenge. I will overcome some how. Thank you again. We'll get the resume done.

@@martind2799 No mame. Umm, what I did not disclosed was after training I applied for internships on Arcadium platform that offer internships for beginner digital marketers. Well, I applied to 25 different employers. Only one showed real interest and he went with some else. I found it funny that majority wanted experience before they offer you an internship (contradictory). During an interview on Skype or whatever...one lady was so rude to me complaining about noise background and abruptly ended the interview. So I nicely thanked her 4 the interview in an email and let her know, "I don't have the luxury to interview in a quiet place like her beautiful home. Because I am homeless. So my only option is at a noisy fast food restaurant with wifi."
Plus, I hate Wordpress and my website could never function right. Found a guy on UA-cam who said "Wordpress is outdated, no longer user friendly and confusing for beginners." He was right. So I close my website with them and lost interest into digital marketing all together. After so many attempts to get going and some people were arrogant/unhelpful at times, I gave up. Plus, Digital Marketing is too expensive to learn and get into. It's recommended to get this program or app or up incoming software to run smoothly. It changes too much, it's overwhelming to me. Thank you for inquiring about me and your videos were encouraging to me. Maybe, if everyone were like you I would have stayed in it.

So I have a question- I am in an internship right now and they keep saying there are different roles in digital marketing, what does that mean? I thought as a dm you’re doing everything from seo to social media marketing.

That’s a great question! I would ask - have you taken any online courses? Did any of those courses include research projects or practice strategies? Have you volunteered? Did you complete any marketing projects as part of your education?

I wanted to start a website portfolio as you mentioned in your video. I would suggest starting by watching some free UA-cam videos to get an idea of what parts of digital marketing you’re interested in, or starting by signing up for a course that covers a bit of everything
