I hate to tell you this but they put two different engines in those trucks. Don't you think it might be helpful to say WHICH ENGINE you are working on? It's not in the description or even in the video.
Great video, but any wire especially on lower side where water splash is likely its always best to use some dielectric grease when re-installing electrical plug. Moisture inside that plug can be a nightmare, can act as if the sensor is bad.
Hello. I want to clean my position sensor on my 1999 Blazer 4.3l V6 AWD, because it is full of oil... When i pull it out and back in, is then a relearning nessecarry? Or only when i change it with a new one? Thanks!
TRQ would the Crankshaft Position Sensor cause the truck engine to idle really high? My truck will go past 4,000 RPM’s and we put a scanner on it and it came back as a CKP sensor
+chico suave We would be unable to diagnose an issue like that for you here! We recommend having the vehicle checked out by a mechanic to determine exactly why you are having that issue.
this is a 4.3 zr2 trim, luckily this is my truck but they should def be specifying. especially since the zr2 has different suspension and rear end than normal 4wd s10s
Can these things leak oil? I have an oil leak from the front of the engine and the timing cover around the balancer seems dry but there is oil dripping off the crank sensor.
96-99 Chevy vortex when installing crank position sensor you have to use spacers are sensor will get damaged. Then down the road folks are out more money replacing again. Never seen you use the spacer washers.
1994 model year was the last year for the 1st Generation S10 Blazer (boxy style) 1994 was the first year for the 2nd Generation S10 pickups (more rounded body style)
If you take the old one off and there are no shims then no you don't have to shim it. If the new one came with shims, then measure the neck of the old one to see if it matches the new one. If the new sensor is longer for some reason then shim appropriately.

Excellent video but I hear some people say it needs to be shimmed and others don’t mention it. I appreciate it.
Is this the same for the 2.2L? Cuz based on the video for the cam shaft sensor, mine was located in a different location from that video

Good video, I would have added the bolt sizes in the video as you where taking them off for ease.
Is it too much trouble to do videos on S10's with the L4 2.2L ?? Not ALL of them came with a 4.3l V6 !!
Will this take care of a p0345 code?????

Is it too much trouble to specify in the title if this is a 4.3 or 2.2l? Chevy made more than one version just sayin.

How do you know if you need a shim for the sensor

Yes, if that O-ring on it is bad it can leak.

What are thoses two shield that guy takes off too get too the sensor ?
Those plastic shields are skid plates for 4x4 models.
What about the relearn?
Is there a relearned did u find one?
my son has a 94 blazer Vortec v6 an the crank sensor is 100% not in this location i cant find one anywhere on his motor
94 is before that stuff ??????

Video not correct for 2004. I don't know about 1994-2003
2004 is located on the driver's side block just in front of the starter.
Did you not have to shim it?

My crankshaft position sensor is in the distributor under the rotor button on my 2002 Chevrolet S10 4x4.
That's your camshaft sensor
That's the cam sensor.
That is the CAMshaft position sensor in the distributor. Crankshaft position sensor is one in video on crank pulley.
Thats the camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor is in this location for mine. 01 Crew cab s10 4x4
That's the Ham Sandwich Shaft Sensor!
You didn't show the relearn process.
Is there a relearned did u find one?
Are you sure this is a s10?
I have a 1994 4.3l S-10 right in front of me and I can confirm that this isnt correct for 1994 models.
Torque it. Your hilarious. 😁
+Phil Partin Thanks for the feedback! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Had to laugh when he busted out the torque wrench
