Mark may have won the prize this week, but in my view we are all winners with these vignettes of your life. The suspense of the rising tide is a classic horror film genre. You captured it perfectly. I laugh and weep at your films in equal measure..... keep em coming as we need them ever more in times of lockdown CD#123
Most people just cry when they've seen I've done another video.
@@cdwc genuinely is the highlight of my week.
Nice walks! Great channel!
Thanks cool dudes.
That is a fantastic walk. One of my favourite places to be.👍😁
Yes. I would have loved to sit down with a beer and my sausage sandwich and listen to the sea (on a warmer day).
Nice photos at the end there, cool dude.
Hurray! Very cool walk, thank you!!
Nice one dude.
Genuine sense of excitment on that one.
I put music on that bit first of all then I realised the drama was already there.
Cool walk dude!
Thanks Cool Dude. BTW you are officially Cool Dude #365 for your records. Stay cool.
seeing the sea and tides is something I miss. I now live in Birmingham and the Ocean is so far in every direction so watching your video's is the closest I can get.
#10 cool Dude
Think of Birmingham as the perfect central hub for all the cool UK walks.
That shell is awesome, my favorite thing is walking on the beach and looking for seashells!
They're hard to find. I am sure the competition winner will put it straight on his mantlepiece.
@@cdwc I'm so jealous of your winter walks. They are beautiful, scenic and just lovely. Unable to do so here in Canada where we are at -40.
@@cdwc It has arrived. What a thing of beauty. I may have to build a mantel piece just to put it on. Thanks CD #1, from CD #222 (aka Mark)
@@kenners0136 Excellent. Build one out of shells. so it is indistinguishable. Stay cool CD #222
Watching this walk has really made my day! Thankyou Cool Dude. RCD #172
I thought of you when I arrived at the Church.
I recently found a very interesting drawing of the Old Church from the 1500's, regarding the attempted French Invasion of the Island. (Found on St Helens Historical Society, Facebook). I still think my watercolour painting is the best & I look at it every day! 🙂
I will look that up.
I like the arty walking away from camera shots... I'd like to see the part where you come back and retrieve it left in the edit.
Nice mention of Lionel Lostlunch.
There is one walk back on one of my videos somewhere.
I often do this walk when I’m down at seaview..oh and my most memorable summer job?..playing in the band at nodes point in 1989!!
Did they have someone dressed up in a Tiger costume back then?
@@cdwc they may have done..i think it was a warners and there were lots of grown ups dressed as animals..simple times..I was too busy avoiding the dodgy burgers and chips being delivered by the miserable looking kitchen staff
Thank you for this excellent walk Marek.
Our walking holiday on the Isle of Wight (staying at Manor Farm, Freshwater) last year has been postponed until this May - hopefully we will be able to mix families at the rented house.
I think we will be incorporating this walk into the schedules.
Keep well.
Nice one. You can park at The Duver in the National Trust Car Park almost next to the old Church in St Helens, also there is an inland path back from Seagrove Bay to St Helens if you fancy a more leisurely stroll.
A lunch of champions x
Overweight champions.
Awesome walk cool dude - must have been harder walking on the sand. Many thanks for showing us this super landscape / seascape with your unique commentary. Love your walks Merek !
Thanks Jan. It was pretty easy on the sand as it goes. I wore my trainers, which proved to be the correct decision. Stay cool.
Lovely to hear the birds singing in the intro, that looked like a good walk. Can't believe you found such a perfect looking shell! I can't find many where I live. Did not know you can actually walk out to the forts! Glad you're enjoying my pics! Have a great weekend 😀
It's the first perfect shell I've found in 40 years. Then there was another one I saw a bit further along. Turns out perfect shells are like buses.
You can only walk out to the St. Helens fort. I wouldn’t try the others
HEY. Be nice to seagulls please, Marek!!! In all seriousness though, the Isle of Wight looks like a beautiful place, never thought of going there but your videos make me want to visit, especially if I'm going to meet lovely great danes while having a nice beach stroll!
What is your least favourite bird Eve? There must be some that annoy you at least a little bit.
@@cdwc No.
My sister worked at the Baywatch cafe... horrific in multiple ways apparently! Funiest one I can come up with is a ticket collect on Island Line trains. Required super-human levels of personal restraint not to throttle the school children... plus I gave one guy £20 change from the £5 he gave me - he seemed happy :)
Having to deal with teenagers is the worst.
You found a scallop shell ... mmmm is this a sign . May be you should do the Camino de Santiago. What do you think ? Great video 👍
Yes I would love to do it one day. Have you done it?
@@cdwc its on my list . Extensive research okay I've watched The Way . Thinking 2022 with my co walker son
Rewatching
My dad owned a half a farm so any school holiday or day off or even weekend I had to go dig holes in frozen ground and plant berry bushes while all my mates had a real childhood. I wish I had Malibu then.
Digging holes in frozen ground or chalk ground is the worst.
@@cdwc whereas writing rude words on the ground with chalk is the best
I love these videos and local places too. I'd love to go on a yomp with you.
Nice one cool dude.
Oh no CD#1, ordinarily I would go to CDWC for my facts (trusting them even over Wikipedia) but I must correct you on around minute 4 when you said you were 'approaching Nettlestone' when in fact you were going towards Puckpool. One can only put this down to the trauma of forgetting the sausage-bap. Great to see that your experiences of working at Nodes Point Holiday Camp were as good as everyone else's and thanks for not holding it against St. Helens :) Stay cool, CD#247
Yes I realised this after I said it. Nettlestone is much further inland. It was sausage deficiency. I used to go to Puckpool park loads when I was a kid but it looked like they were about to do a massive load of building there. Stay cool Cool Dude.
Thanks for upholding the integrity of CDWC facts CD#1. It was -31 here this morning so I shall stay cool as advised :)
I always like to get at least one thing wrong per episode to appear human. It is minus two here at the moment.
You never forget your first time, especially if your 8 and it's a great Dane 😂😂😂
We just did an epic walk! You might like to see the video 😉
Your sand was better then our mud 🙄
Painful forgetting your lunch.... dohhhh. I once carried a huge Thermos vacuum flask of piping hot coffee with a shot of Brandy all the way to our destination so we could enjoy our stop.... only to drop it at the last moment. Smash. Shake shake rattle rattle drip drip. Needless to say I sulked all the way home 😄
All the best..... Steve
The worst thing was I said to myself that the pack feels light when I left the house. I think if I'd stopped for lunch I wouldn't have made it back before the tide.
Every time you say St Helens, I think you’re in Tasmania Australia. 😆👍🇦🇺
That will be my next walk.
@@cdwc if I’m still here, I’ll make you a lovely lunch. 😊
Superb
....may use Lionel Lost Lunch or a version with the daughter this weekend....
Ah little baby Marek
Marek with hair.
@@cdwc I did not even think about that 😂
Well done Marek and Congrats to Mark, the shell would be improved with googly eyes and given a name...
Today is probably one of the top five days in Mark's life.
I can confirm that it is indeed the greatest day of my life. Cool dude #222, aka Mark
I did that once, left my lunch behind while on a trip to the Isle of Wight, but silly me I thought I would go back home to get it and then missed the ferry (that was on a school trip by the way)
The old house was called appley manor
Spent one summer packing Christmas selection boxes at Rowntrees chocolate factory... perks were the wage, about £9 an hour in 1999/2000 and you could take any chocolate bars that weren’t sealed correctly or were miss-shaped home. Drawbacks were getting put on the production line next to any of the lifers... some very bizarre characters!
That is good money for 20 years ago.
@@cdwc that was the only thing that powered me through the night shifts (forgot to mention that part)! The novelty of endless chocolate wore off very quickly...
Did you know Kit Kat’s are made from Kit Kat’s?
Scallop shell from the Solent :)
Ahhhh excellent.
Definitely think you've earned a sausage commercial!
Yes I should be the face of sausages. Sausageface Larwood.
I stayed at Nodes Point holiday Park once, never again it must have been the worse place I've stayed at. The place was dirty and there were slugs and snails inside the chalet. I don't think I saw you there though.
I was the snail.
Another rewatch
Great Walk mate, Marek walking at 3 mph = i thought it was Usain bolt for a second! Glad i never had a summer job now becuase your old boss sounded like a right twat, lol.
I was disappointed when the average came back as 2.7mph.
Had a summer job working the “death phone” at a morgue. People called when their relatives died and I’d enter the information like where to collect the body. Had to get the addresses 100% or the morticians would appear at the wrong house asking for a body.
Holy shit. That sounds like the worst. At least though it was sitting down.
I hate it when I go to work and then realise that I left my lunch at home, it always means a damp BLT from Asda. I bet you really enjoyed those sausage sandwiches when you got home though.
I think my worst summer job was working in Victoria Wine.
Yes I felt as though I deserved them.
Forgetting the sausage bap is not only inconvenient, but very very dangerous. What would you have done if confronted by the Amazon Monster?
Luckily Amazone was slain by fictional Marek.
From personal experience, the main disadvantage from eating Wotsits is you get left with orange fingers (just saying)!
They seem to be less dusty these days than I remember.
careful with future walks marek, been told theres a black panther on the loose on the isle
Oh Shit man. I bet I get killed by the panther.
So sorry about forgetting the T-bone steak crisps. Is it acceptable to eat all six packets in one sitting? Yes, I believe it is!
The packs are so small. I think three packs now is the equivalent of one pack when I was a kid. Those crisps are amazing though.

Exactly
The only summer job I had was that as an assistant fishmonger - loathed it and thankfully I only lasted a few weeks as there was nothing worse than coming home smelling of ripe fish.
Would I recommend such a job? Would I f***.
That sounds worse than the Tiger costume.
I would imagine the costume smelt better than I did at the end of my shift.
Cool Stories Cool Dude.
Thanks Cool dude.
First
Maybe it was a Bushranger on a horse that I saw first thing.
@@cdwc if my extensive research on sea shells is correct... that is the flat half of a scallop shell. It’s one of the main shells on Auckland beaches. They get huge. Actually if you find a little one they are sometimes intact. Then you are obligated to pick them up and squeeze them like they are talking and make little voices for them. Actually I’ve had to stop doing this because there are so many here that I crossed the line into looking crazy talking to myself every few meters.
Is your diet exclusively sausages? I'm not judging, I just need to know.
Yes, how else am I expected to maintain this physique?
Hey Marek, how many sausages were in your baps? I'm betting on 2 per bap.... but I reckon it wouldn't be outrageous if there were three in each bap because you walked 6 miles and athletes like you need protein.
Good question. I actually edited out the bit when I talk about sausage contents. It was one and a half, cut in half and laid flat. They were quite thick sausages.
@@cdwc Good move, tessellation is key in the overall bap structural integrity and I think that is a very sensible approach.
Is there anything more disheartening than discovering you have forgotten your sandwiches on a day out or worse at work?
Maybe that your home has burnt down.
Wasn't the crystal and hippy shit shop open in the Folly? You can't go to Appley Tower and not buy a crystal or piece of hippy shit.
