If there's one fangame that I DEFINITELY wanna see you play, it's Sonic World DX! The models and gameplay are improved from the original Sonic World, there's different versions of stages with different missions, including Encore Modes, and the mod support is insane! You can even buy extra abilities with rings, like the boost, the Drop Dash, and even Hyper Forms for characters that have one!

So a little something about the secrets, if you find all the secrets of each Zone, you will unlock new characters
If I remember correctly, there are 3 unlockable characters (probably 4) aside from Shadow and Ray, will I tell you who they are? Nah, I'll let that to you to find out
The square thing on the lower left is a radar that lets you find the secrets, pretty much like the adventure games when you play as Knuckles or Rouge

Sonic Robo Blast 2. Just… So many mods man. The mod for Samus in particular blew me away.
Might I suggest a Fangame called Sonic Encore? It recently just got its final build update at SAGE last week, and is made on the same engine as this game! More playable characters, too (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Mighty, Ray, Shadow and Blaze)

3:26 Hill top probably would be my main pick for a modern revamp, if not though, probably mystic cave( I think that’s what it was called) also from sonic 2, if for no other reason than to see what happens to the soft lock pit. All classic players know the one I’m talking about

Bro, don't you DARE sleep on Ray. He and Sonic are the best characters in the game. You NEED to play every stage with the four of them with the intent to go fast because it is DISGUSTING. Check the character descriptions to learn how to use Ray's mechanics, because when you know how to fly well it is... kind of gross. In the best way possible.
EDIT: OH AND DON'T FORGET- play the tutorial again so you remember how to do the tricks. They pop you out of ball in the air, so you can take damage, but if you time them right they're just another jump ON TOP OF THE HOMING ATTACK. If you just barely can't make some jumps for those ridiculous time strats, this is the way.

There are some nice Zelda Fangames out there. I don't know of any 3D ones that use unity or unreal or whatever, though. They usually stick with the OoT Engine. Also, not naming names, because Nintendo ninjas be everywhere nowadays, but the one I have in mind heavily features a cursed wasteland area.
Nintendo's like Ferrari, honestly. They make good stuff, but lord help you if you try to do anything with the game/car you paid for.

I though this game was a cool idea but very sloppy on execution. Jumps are WAAAAAAY too high and far. A lot of the level design is pointless when you can just skip over everything and not have any sense of direction. The enemies might as well not be there.
Also Hill Top is the best level. MAYBE Seaside Hill or Ocean Palace, whatever it was.
But Pyramid Cave was a mess or just a bunch of tech demo corridors to run through. The weird city circus place reminded me of Sonic R... lol And the boss fights... nah.
But I did think it was fun. lol For like messing around. And I thought the controls felt good at least. These are incredible feats. The graphics are fine. I just am not a fan of the direction. I guess that's what happens when you make something. You win some, you lose some. Most people love this so... kudos to them.
