@Erick Mano dos games in my opinion sbr2 is my favorite sonic fan game ever ofc everyone has there own favorite sonic games and that’s ok but mine has to be sbr2 I just love this game man
Encore seems like a more polished version of gt considering I also had the same problem with stages being too open. Also I know this isn't a sonic fan game but it's inspired of sonic. Spark the electric jester 1 & 2 are games inspired from the adventure games and 3 being inspired off heroes (currently in development). The games are really good and I highly recommend you check it out. Also Omens deserves an honorable mention, I know it's kind of buggy and certain walks a thin line legally but I would be lying if I didn't say the game has so much passion with decent level design and great music. This was a pretty good list and I agree with all the choices being great fangames.
encore isn't finished though, i could only find a demo of it. Gt is a full game instead, but yeah it has the stage issue, and also the graphics are hard to mantain at a certain speed.
So happy to see SRB2 at number one. SRB2 and Kart are not just some of my favorite fangames, but favorite video games of all time. I've sunk so many hours into multiplayer on them with my friends, and also love experimenting with the overload of mods on both of them. I think both of these games are very special and probably the best free games you can find on the internet!
i think another thing thats perfect about SRB2 is that it has a mobile port with mod support, which is EXTREMELY helpful since i dont have anything that runs windows
I’m glad to see someone put SRB2 on their #1 list. I was only 8 years old when I first played it (SRB2) when Final Demo 1.09.4 was still the latest version, the mod support was crazy back then & it’s getting better & better even now. It’s just so damn good! To think that these guys have been developing this game since 1998, 2 years before I was even born, is CRAZY. It’s safe to say that this game is most likely far from being finished for *good* but when that day comes I’m gonna be super excited.
Sonic P-06 is not even a remaster for me, it completely changes the physics and the graphics and it uses another engine for... everything unlike Colors Ultimate which used Godot only as a graphical and model backend. Sonic Omens was the only Sonic game to have fully 3D animated cutscenes and man they're BEAUTIFUL. The game itself isn't that great but whoever made the cutscenes is awesome. Sonic Robo Blast 2 is just... Sonic Robo Blast 2, it's good but i actually prefer Sonic GT over it. I just don't really like the formula they adopt into the game, but the game makes up for it offering you MASSIVE levels sometimes with the best challenge ever in a Sonic fangame, not feeling too unfair, and also it has awesome mods. Sonic After the Sequel is not really my thing but it is pretty good as a game. The game has really good level design that literally feels like a level from a classic sonic game and each level has fun gimmick like that kirby gimmick thing but i prefer another classic fangame which is Sonic Time Twisted. Sonic Time Twisted is, in my opinion, WAY better than Sonic After the Sequel because it has an interesting visual story, nice gimmicks and variety between the locations, a Sonic CD vibe but with actual good level design, it's really fun and challenging Metal Sonic Boss fights, and the artstyle and the sprites are MUCH better, and it's also in full HD/4K and widescreen so that's good. Ok that's about it really for my opinions on certain Sonic fan games. At the end of the day, Sonic fangames are just small passion projects and when we get talented people making phenomenal experiences with great graphics, good-feeling gameplay, and something that the official games don't have compared to these phenomenal fan creations and we can ALWAYS look at fangames when we get varying or no qualities from the official games made by Sonic Team and we can all appreciate that.

Sonic GT and Encore control almost exactly the same and have the same moves and physics. I would recommend Sonic GT slightly above Sonic Encore what with it being actually finished and having a story and original music.
it genuinely bewilders me how much people care about in-level cinematic moments. im not trying to say its a bad thing, i guess im just realizing more more speedrunner-brained than i thought lol i just want good game feel and full control over the camera, i feel like "cool moments" come from learning what you can pull off, rather than locking the camera to certain positions and taking away some player agency. i think taking away control outside of cutscenes is pretty uncool personally speaking lol
06:45 "They made the level design linear, which is what I've been asking for from Sonic fangames for so long. I've only tried Robo Blast 2 so far, but I appreciate the vid! Always up for some high quality fan games. Really hope Sonic Rush 3D gets finished too. I've seen gameplay of it and it looks like it could easily be one of the best sonic fan games if completed.
2:32 is also the main reason why I did not like Sonic Frontiers, open level design that's easy to get lost in. I like my 3D Sonic games "linear" like Unleashed, Colours, Generations, even Forces, but still lots do to like in 6:48.

Why not have both Boost and Adventure formula in one game. The boost is only use to travel between zones. And adventure formula is for open world platform exploration. Best of both world.
Another really good fangame is Sonic and the Fallen Star that game has amazing visuals and level design creative ideas an amazing art style and controls too much like the classic games It is a really good game

There is a good reason why it isn't in this list. The developers have been making money off of Sonic Omens and giving builds to patrons. It isn't on there because it's a forbidden fan game that doesn't deserve to be on any list because of what the devs have done.
My top favourite sonic fangames are: 5-Sonic GT 4-Sonic Battle R 3-Sonic World Release 10 2-Sonic And The Fallen Star Honorable Mentions- Sonic World DX, Sonic FGX Ultimate 1- Sonic Robo Blast 2
i would put GT highter in the list and also put Sonic Chrono Adventure, and maybe the Sonic SMS Remakes Also have you played After the Sequel Omega? Is a remaster with widescreen, bug fixes, and harder bosses
Yeah if i'd count fangames on my list of best sonic game Sonic P-06 would EASILY be the second best. Nobody can beat my GOAT that is Sonic Adventure though. No game. Even not-sonic.
Sonic SMS 2 is sonic fan game that is absolutely amazing it have alot of challenges and level designs and alot of character the only thing missing is a story but other than that its amazing it have special stages and fun multiplayer u can race with your friends its so fun.
My pfp is what represents me after i play all of the games you said. Sonic Rush 3D has ass keyboard controls but aside from that it's decent. Textures could be better. Not in how they're low poly, but in how large and stretched they are.

There is a good reason why it isn't in this list. The developers have been making money off of Sonic Omens and giving builds to patrons. It isn't on there because it's a forbidden fan game that doesn't deserve to be on any list because of what the devs have done.
@@Skittleology ok
@@Skittleology yup but the game is free
If they have to do Open World, they should minimize the scale and do something like HUB Worlds, basically combine it with the Openness.
Robo Blast 2 looks so much different from when i played it a few years ago
Finally someone stands for linear level design
My top favourite sonic fangames are:
5-Sonic GT
4-Sonic Battle R
3-Sonic World Release 10
2-Sonic And The Fallen Star
Honorable Mentions- Sonic World DX, Sonic FGX Ultimate
1- Sonic Robo Blast 2
If only we got a game like Robo Blast 2 for the Saturn.
i would put GT highter in the list and also put Sonic Chrono Adventure, and maybe the Sonic SMS Remakes
Also have you played After the Sequel Omega? Is a remaster with widescreen, bug fixes, and harder bosses
I haven't played After the Sequel Omega but I linked it in the description. I'm definitely going to take a closer look into the game in the future.
6:12 I DIED AT THIS PART THAT WAS SO FUNNY
Can’t wait to run though then when the steam deck comes out!
I downloaded sonic robo blast it was good but, project 06 is number 1 for me I already liked the original and now project 06 is a masterpiece
Yeah if i'd count fangames on my list of best sonic game Sonic P-06 would EASILY be the second best. Nobody can beat my GOAT that is Sonic Adventure though. No game. Even not-sonic.
What?! There are finished Sonic Fan Games?!
I've only played Sonic 3 AIR, but it is amazing. They put it on Android too
Sonic SMS 2 is sonic fan game that is absolutely amazing it have alot of challenges and level designs and alot of character the only thing missing is a story but other than that its amazing it have special stages and fun multiplayer u can race with your friends its so fun.
My pfp is what represents me after i play all of the games you said. All of the older fan games like that one where u could change the chars and etc it was like sonic advance but with a little bit more features and less smooth in the speed, I heavily support project 06 because i cant get enough of it but my list of top 5 favourite sonic fan games, sonic Chrome adventure is still at first.
Can you make a review video about a fan made sonic game called Sonic World
The ultimate sonic flash game is amazingly good
And you don't care about bad physics
@@monochrome_but_poly SHUT
@@Codename-Thefox A guy blinded by nostalgia can't admit that his favourite game is trash. Pathetic!
Sonic roboblast 2 also has a persona version that is begin worked on.
Sonic omens is a pretty good fan game
And for some reason this f***ing fanbase hating it like an official game why this is a fan game
@@FlashBiduanWell maybe people wouldn't hate it like it was an official game, if people didn't praise it like an official game
I'd make room for Sonic Utopia for its controls alone, but overall, this is a fine list 👌
And you are not fine
Wait, SONIC ROBO BLAST 2 IS 3D NOW?? I remember it being in 2D
You are probably thinking of SRB1. SRB2 was in 2D at one point but it was extrmely early on in the game's lifespan, the game has been 3d since around 2000 i think.
@@drthvrdrlate 1998 or mid to late 1999
Watching this 2 years later SRB2 still can't be topped!
Sonic World because of the mods. I like how one of the mods has Archie characters even the ones being gatekept by Ken Penders.
And no one cares that it always looked and felt bad
Ok
10:48 was there a cut? Because I sworn you said something like "I know I sound like a broken record" or something.
5:31 which is literally what the original s3&k was but ehhhhhhh
And what about Sonic Omens?
It really says something about how Sega is now as a company, that the fan games are better quality than their officially licenced games.
My personal favorite Sonic fan games are (in no particular order):
Sonic Green Hill Paradise
Sonic Smack Down
Sonic Utopia
Sonic 2 HD
Thing is I like the open world Sonic fan games. Sonic Smack Down is practically an original game with official quality. And finally, Sonic 2 was my very first owned video game, so how could I not like a very polished recreation of my childhood (even if its only the first zone, lol).
Sonic Omens.
This was epic video and speaking of sonic triple trouble 16bit you should try the other fan project that those guys worked on its called sonic time twisted and iirc that game had been worked on for something like 8 years or so and now its fully finished.
Sonic and the fallen star
I can't believe SRB2 got into Number 1! The Fangame I Love!
I really like sonic utopia its a pretty good open world sonic game. Try it i think you will love it❤
I've tried it, it just isn't my thing. Maybe if they finished it my opinion would change.
When he mentioned sonic gt I started sing step into the grand tour
Well, I definetly prefer the Sonic Robo Blast one Sonic Design. Or is that a mod you are using for the 3d Design?
the sonic before the sequel is so cool
I’m here because someone pointed out that sonic frontiers looked like a tech demo or a fanmade game. These compared to what we saw in the frontiers leak make it look inferior
Sonic Rush 3D has ass keyboard controls but aside from that it's decent. Textures could be better. Not in how they're low poly, but in how large and stretched they are.
"it's like the toothpaste of the sonic fangames. If you don't try it, you're disgusting."
sonic omens is the best fan game btw i was gonna download sonic 3 air my favorite games are sonic after the squeal before the squeal sonic omens
to be honest I AM ACTUALLY LOST in sonic GT
3d fangames can make my computer into Burning toaster
For me I would put srb2 as 2 and sonic gt as 1 bc I LOOOOVE the open world design. I think it really fits Sonics speed
I know it's on a lot of list but I really think sonic world deserves a mention the latest realise had multiple costumes for all the playable characters
i just know he'd put sonic robo blast 2 in the top 3 and now i genuinely respect him for his choice
What mod were u using for srb2? well not you but what was the mod used
