Only thing that really disappoints me about these Macs is the lack of support for 2 external displays. I have no idea why the Intel MacBook Air would support that and the M1 wouldn't as the M1 is more powerful. I'm definitely not upgrading until that change is made as my laptop is my desktop and I love having two giant external displays.
@@Gatsbyy Yeah, I think so, but that doesn’t necessarily explain the limitation. Also love how I said I wouldn’t buy a M1 MacBook Air then I went and got one anyways 🤣

We do know AMD and Intel processors can last for years under stressful high performance use. Lets see how long this M1 chip can live under full stress load. Maybe the RAM or the disk will say sayonara first? We wont know.
The simple answer is : first of all serious windows people don’t even buy m1 macbook air / pro. Processes, handling of files, apps on mac os are cumbersome for no god damn reason . On top of that any experiment with apps can lead to irreversible memory wastage. No serious software is free on mac os. Please tattoo this on your wrist. Be it parallel via which u wanna run windows or the windows itself. No key generator works here in that case. If windows people still wanna flaunt the apple logo please go for mac with intel and bootcamp it. Oh by windows people I didn’t mean people who do video editing only. I meant some serious work on windows. Like running a tfs server from it, setting up a sql server . You name it. On top of that bootcamp helps to allocate entire RAM on windows os , not like parallel where you need to decide how much RAM to allocate to windows, so with M1 you will end up buying a minimum of 16 gb of RAM version vs minimum of 8gb version of INTEL macs in this regards. What common in tech reviews are like very few youtuber got the guts to speak truth rather than nurturing the fake apple impression. It’s unfortunate but a fact. Peace 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
I've used the M1 Pro since it came out, coming from a 1080p webcam on a 12-year-old laptop, the 720p webcam is considerably worse in quality. Yes, there's a neural network training thingy going on in the chip, but it just made the image strange and yellowy.
I have the MacBook Pro 2019 intel - this has broke around 4 times in 2 years (the keys keep getting stuck) - I'm looking to upgrade and not sure what to go for! I'm thinking MacBook Air M1
In every other video people say that specs don't tell the full story, yet it seems they do with the new MacBooks. And the only example ever given is a generic video editing test lol. Absolute rubbish.
Can u please help me? I can buy 16 GB RAM 8 core MBA or 16 GB MBP. Their price nearly same in my country. MBA has more storage (512~256) but has no fan. I want to use it at least five years and I’m a casual user. I’m scared of heating issues bcuz of fanless design. Should i cancel my MBA order?
Wasn't the 13" Macbook Pro base model only sold with two USB-C ports when Intel? I am sure that the more expensive Pro with dedicated graphics will have more! Seems the same argument made against the new Macs viz non-upgradeable, yet Macbooks have been that way for many years. Maybe just something to complain about? As for SD card readers, it is not a major feature, most buyers do not really care. I dock my Mac and that has all the outputs I need, the whole point of Thunderbolt/USB-C! I read that 90%+ of webcams from all OEMs are 720p and when asked why, the researchers were told that about 60% of PC users never use a webcam and those that needed them for pro stuff bought one? Nowadays the best webcam is your phone camera and everyone has these so if you need it maybe use that, the bonus is that it frees your laptop up for working on! We should be back to normal next year so changing the design of a laptop just for a few months, engineers would tell you is not very clever. Most hosts like zoom suggest 720p is the best to avoid lag and stuttering and I am not sure why people would want an HD webcam unless you want people to see all your beauty! The mic quality is far more important. Sorry about the essay but these two complaints creators make seem to be nitpicky (on any laptop) and seem to be very personal complaints. I agree with the rest of the stuff, however, I forgive Apple for not having a new design especially as miniLED are not even ready yet! Mainly as doing both at the same time def ups the risk factor, swapping to M1 is enough to get on with! With the new AMD incoming and Intel upping the game, consumers are now being treated to great choices. Cheers.
I agree with your points. I never cared for a better webcam. I think 720p is good enough already. I don’t need people to see crystal clear image of my pimples during conference video calls. The MPA is already powerful enough for 90% of the population. We can live with just 2 ports.
Even the new keyboard is only marginally better than the previous one and is still not usable. These devices don't even have Bootcamp. Apple deservedly only has around 10% of the market, this is a nice POC but until we see something in the PC market it is not very interesting. Most people will not be buying an Apple laptop though it seems You Tube creators seem to use a lot more Apple products than the average consumer.
Most people are looking at these first Apple Silicon Macs wrong - these aren't Apple's powerhouse machines: they're simply the annual spec bump of the lowest end Apple computers with DCI-P3 displays, Wifi 6, and the new Apple Silicon M1 SoC. They have the same limitations as the machines they replace - 16 GB RAM and two Thunderbolt ports. These are the machines you give to a student or teacher or a lawyer or an accountant or a work-at-home information worker - folks who need a decently performing machine with decent build quality who don't want to lug around a huge powerhouse machine (or pay for one for that matter). They're still marketed at the same market segment, though they now have a vastly expanded compute power envelope. The real powerhouses will probably come next year with the M1x (or whatever). Apple has yet to decide on an external memory interconnect and multichannel PCIe scheme, if they decide to move in that direction. Other CPU and GPU vendors and OEM computer makers take notice - your businesses are now on limited life support. These new Apple Silicon models can compete speed-wise up through the mid-high tier of computer purchases, and if as I expect Apple sells a ton of these many will be to your bread and butter customers. In fact, I suspect that Apple - once they recover their R&D costs - will be pushing the prices of these machines lower while still maintaining their margins - while competing computer makers will still have to pay Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, and nVidea for their expensive processors, whereas Apple's cost goes down the more they manufacture. Competing computer makers may soon be squeezed by Apple Silicon price/performance on one side and high component prices on the other. Expect them to be demanding lower processor prices from the above manufacturers so they can more readily compete, and processor manufacturers may have to comply because if OEM computer manufacturers go under or stop making competing models, the processor makers will see a diminishing customer base. I believe the biggest costs for a chip fab are startup costs - no matter what processor vendors would like you to believe. Design and fab startup are _expensive_ - but once you start getting decent yields, the additional costs are silicon wafers and QA. The more of these units Apple can move, the lower the per unit cost and the better the profits. So ... who should buy these M1 Macs? If you're in the target demographic - the student, teacher, lawyer, accountant, or work-at-home information worker: _this is the Mac for you._ If you're a heavy computer user like a creative and don't simply want a light and cheap computer with some additional video and sound editing capability for use on the go - I'd wait for the M1x (or whatever) next year. You'll probably kick yourself next year when the machines targeted at _you_ finally appear.
