This piece of film, better than perhaps any I have seen, captures the essence of what it was like to just sit nearby and listen to Bill. There's just a hint of tension in the air and all present are eagerly watching his hands, waiting for him to kick up the next tune.
Joe Newberry Yeah, I wasn't sure. You can't see him very well, but I thought he looked younger than Marvin. I thought Marvin might also play clawhammer. I saw A. C. Overton once playing clawhammer though I think of him as a two-finger player.
One of my favorite videos, this is. This really exempliflies Old Time Appalachian Fiddle. Love how many times he plays it to get everyone "in the groove."
I swallow up every video I see of Bill. Such a unique musician. He's the real deal.
This is Galax.....love those long songs...especially watching the Birchfields....ahhhhhh 🎵🎶🎵... time to pickup the d28...

That looks like Marvin Gaster playing banjo on the right.
That's not Marvin, because he is playing clawhammer(plus he has hair) . Although he does resemble him a bit. :)

I love how they catch that Minor chord at the end of the song!! ...certainly a tune you could play thru a bunch of times!!
Possibly "I Saw a Man at the Close of Day" or "Banjo Pickin' Girl." So many of these tunes and renditions get to sounding alike.
