I have an old Singer, peddle sewing machine. It was my grandmother's. She wrote my name on a piece of painter's tape and stuck it to the bottom of it many years before she died so that everyone would know that she wanted me to inherit it. She bought it used before my Dad was born in 1935. It is my most prized possession

I can't wait for tomorrow's video. This is so exciting. The absolute biggest "vulnerablility" of the entire homesteading movement, as I see it, is that you are all depending on the Farm stores for your animal food. The large grain producers are being paid right now to NOT grow grain but to leave their land fallow. You all need to act on this now... this spring for your survival. There could very well be no chicken feed or grain available by this coming fall. I am not saying this to create fear but to generate focused action in the right direction. I see this issue as one that is big enough to destroy the whole movement and I do so not want to see that happen. I am so happy for you to be a part of this. If I were in your spot, as in neighbors with Jason and Loraine, I would be talking with them about buying a tractor together and the equipment needed to, at least. grow flint corn and hulless (naked) barley, enough for chickens and pigs. Only milk producing cows need grain and I believe that with richer hay or pasture available to the them grain would not be needed. Cattle stomachs evolved to eat grass only not grain. P.S. Raccons do not like Flint corn . It's not sweet and it is hard.. Working around the "gully warshers" is quite unique to western NC and very different than living in California isn't it. Love you guys.

Your orchard down by the old farm house is starting to look good. That's a lot of rain. I'm glad you got the stanchion moved without dragging it through the mud. Happy cows. Milly is being sweet. Nice, meat chickens to butcher in two weeks! Yum, turkey tetrazinni! We smoked 3 , 4 lb. pork shoulder roasts from pigs we had raised for Easter since we had eaten all the hams we got from them. That was really good. My trifecta of leftovers from turkey is day one is open faced turkey sandwiches, next day is turkey soup, and the final day is turkey pot pie. Cool, Ben working on a grain mill! So fantastic! Thanks for taking us along. The turkey tetrazinni sounds wonderful. I'll have to add a day four to my turkey leftovers! Thanks for this Hollars!

It is basically all the leftover dressing (cornbread apple onion), sauces (gravy and cranberry), a good amount of not sandwich turkey, and veggies with shredded cheese. Sometimes I get requests for that in the off season it's so good. Easy to make when I'm working on the carcass for broth.

Happy belated Easter y'all! We had our traditional spread with one new item, Meg's simple bread recipe for rolls and I whipped up some cinnamon raisin bread for dessert. That bread is addictive! Thank you for sharing it with all of us! It's now our daily bread and it's saving me hours of time. ❤️
On an aside that is slightly related, there is a show called The Chosen, they have a yt channel but the actual show is free for streaming on their own app. It's the story of Jesus and His Flock. It's so well done, even my edgy teen is loving it. I can't recommend it enough; if you're so inclined and have the time, check it out, it's worth it! It makes Jesus and The Apostles so relatable.

We had pot roast and potatoes for Easter. I just put Shepard’s pie in the oven for tonight. I’ll have to try the turkey dish you mentioned.

I always do turkey tetrazzini with the leftover bird at Thanksgiving. Buggy is growing up soooo quickly.
