A person's inherent intelligence will always come to the rescue when one is seeking to grow, find one's self and place in life. It helps you to look objectively at opportunities and grasp the best ones. You needed to fit into your new Society so you started with what you knew even though you gave of yourself for free(wise move since it led to a better opportunity). They rejected you, then accepted you but then
you reject them and it became their loss😅.
    Keep growing....yours stories are riveting

You know I have only recently bumped into your UA-cam channel, I don’t think it’s 4 months as yet but you are so infectious with your personality and storytelling style, so authentic that I keep coming back to your channel. I think I also have a little bias towards Cuba as my grandfather lived there for a while. I’ve been there twice but before 2000 and I loved it. Once it was to attend the Junior Pan Am Games where I stayed at one of the games village and the other time was part of my honeymoon.

OMG, was it in 1991 Los Juegos Panamericanos?? My grandma was sent to work in Havana to serve the athletes at the Panamaerican Villas. Back then, Cuba was Cuba. Back then, we had everything, but right after all the disappear, it was almost instant: today, the shops were full, and tomorrow, they were empty. It was wild. I am glad you enjoy my channel. It is a true honor to share my story with you. Tell me where you spent your honeymoon. Mucho love 🤗❤️

Not sure if this is my first comment on your channel but the story resonated with me.
I understand so much about your story as it reminded me so much of the turns and twists that your life has taken.
I have worn glasses from age 8 and so I can relate to the eye care industry.
I studied in Spain at age 17 and worked in the tourism industry upon my return to Jamaica in 1990. Isn't it funny that our paths never crossed?
I visited Cuba several times as a translator with a Jamaican Tour company that did business with Cubanacan and so I understand so much of what you described about life there.
I have so much more to share but it would be nice to connect.

    Hi Flor,
Tuning in from Colorado. Thanks for sharing this part of your journey. I remember as a kid growing up in the hills of Clarendon, I would play around with my parents radio until I find a Spanish speaking station even though I didn’t understand anything they were saying.
