This song, with its pathos and emotion, reminds me of my former lover, and the good times we shared before our break-up after 12 years. I wonder if our paths will ever cross again. She chose a path that I could not, in all honesty, follow. I still have feelings for her.
This beautiful song has always made me so sad , and even now , at the age of 55 , the tears are pouring down , when i hear it .

Been listening to this track for years, but never yet seen the video. Didn't know there even WAS a video. Phil styling it out like a good'n, the stripped back girls' vocals; so quintessentially '80s. As others have remarked below, this is an under-rated gem. I wrote an essay about early Electropop for a B-Tec assignment. My Boomer generation teacher was unpersuaded of its merits until I cited this H.L. song in it, from the perspective that it follows the formula of a 1950s/60s pop song, and is lyrically brilliant. We had to include audio examples on cassette, and I think he liked the song and my analysis, coz I got an A-. 😊❤

I love hearing Phil speak as he’s from Leicestershire although the band has a Sheffield foundation. You can hear that slightly nasal tone in his singing voice that makes him so distinctive. I was really into soul music when the League were around and didn’t admit to my friends that I liked them but they’re one of those bands that just seep into your subconscious through haunting melodies and unusual beats. Louise is such a simple but moving song only slightly eclipsed, for me, by Human, written by the same team that brought to Alexander O’Neal so many hits and you can hear their sexy quality in the sound of that stunning track.
I was on the bus home from work, and fell right into the lap of a sweet girl call Louise coming down the stairs, her reply to me was " I can think of better ways to ask me out", I think I went the same colour as the bus.... BRIGHT RED oh the shame, she was standing at the luggage rack in front of the stairs at the time I literally fell for her. I miss the 80s, those days will never come back but at least we can make new memories as we get older.

Most Radio stations think The Human League are a one hit wonder band. They only ever play Don't You Want Me which I've grown to hate because it's been done to death.

It has been over three decades since I fist heard this track, but it still shines even in this era when music has become what you may call a drag. True, it may be an underrated track by The Human League and the lyrics may seem kinda poignant but the vocals, arrangements, use of synths-- Giorgio Moroder comes to mind--are simply AWESOME and TIMELESS. A true class act from the Eclectic 80s :-)

Hiya m8. I had a real good chat with Joanne Catherall ♥️ my favourite Human League member. In Brighton about 6 years ago. Ather my 16th Human League gig that I went 2c. And m8 I had such a great time in chatting with Joanne Catherall ♥️. That I missed the last train home from Brighton 2 Portsmouth where I live in and play Chess 4. And I didn't have my meds with me. In order words. I did a Piky from Dad's Army. But fortunately I managed to get a free taxi home. The only downside of the free taxi home. Was that the Human League's sweet ♥️ s and Phillip Oakey weren't in the taxi home with me.
Hmmm. This flaunts suchs a story recognizable for soo many people it still make me drop a tear of two. It sounds plane. And not too melancholic. Though experiencing that same store as many did.... its a slap in the face.. waw human league. Just waw !
