      Oh France? Yeah that would make the parts a little harder to find....haha

      @@ibfgarage9365 Ahah, Lucky I am, I found two explorer, so I got everything I need, I just hope the V6 is in good condition so I don't have to rebuild it ahah!

      Oh wow you got 2 explorers, nice! That should give plenty of parts then. Our 4.0l that we're putting in has a little high miles on it but ran really nice. So, we're not gonna rebuild right now. Just gonna run it.

    I have found out that it's best to Drain all fluids in the Motor and transmission. If you have a stick shift. Drain the 5-speed as well if you have a 4-speed same. This will not work with 4x4 rangers or explorers, not enough room. Unhook the drive shaft and loosen up the bolts on motor and Transmission. Pull AC off bracket disconnect. Take power steering lines off the box. Do not remove them from the Power steering pump. there are 3 bolts and 2 nuts holding the 4.0 power steering bracket on. Pull it off the motor put it in the bed. ALT 3 bolts on top 2 plugs. 3 bolts in front 13mm. there will have a harness with a push-on wire clip just push the connecter out of the tension metal wire clasp. Pull plug apart that's for the injector harness. Leave that on the motor. Pull the radiator and pull the fan clutch and fan off the water pump. Take the Coil pack and bracket off 3 bolts Pull the plenum or intake off. Unhook all wires. Make sure to take pics of the wires you disconnect. Even bolts you disconnect. When it comes time to pull the motor out. leave trasmission hooked to motor 2.9 and 4.0 If you have 5 speed hooked to either motor. Pull the shifter off inside the cab even the peace that goes inside the transmission the stub and stick a rage or put the plate back on with the 3 screws. Take the front wheels off and put them on small jack stands give yourself enough room to put the carry picker legs under the front end. Jack up the back end and put jacks under the rear end. So you can get a jack to support the transmission once you have the trans off the trans cross member remove the cross member. I hope at this time your engine has chains or tie downs on the lift brackets Once you have it up off the motor mount pull forward so the engine is about 3 inches from the core support. Make sure the transmission when you start pulling it out. the motor is going at an angle. Must be pointed straight down or at a 75-degree angle or 80. Engine will be pointed at an angle as well this is how you take a job that would take you 3 hours to do. To do in one hour. That's why you drain all fluids in motor transmission even the stick shift you drain that mother empty. You will get water and antifreeze come out But can't help that you might need a friend to help you lift the tail shaft over the core support. Once it's out get it on the ground as fast as possible You don't need to remove the exhaust manifolds. But you need to pull the Cat and Y pipe off from the exhaust manifolds when you are working on the Transmission there will be an 18mm or a 19 mm bolt holding a bracket for the Catadlic converter on it must be removed when the drive shaft is being removed. It will make everything that much more easier.

    I know this isn't a fourm but you think I could do this with a 89 bronco 2? Seem to find mixed thoughts on the dashboard allowing certain 4.0

    I’m trying to swap a 96 ranger 4.0 L engine into a 88 Ford Bronco. How impossible do you think the wiring is? I only have the engine from the ranger no dash or harness

      I'm sure it will be challenging.....but not impossible. Best of luck, that should be a great little bronco if ya do. 👍

    is the 94 explorer the same as the 97 explorer in terms of engine. frame and wiring?
    Also what year is that Ranger?

    • @ibfgarage9365
      @ibfgarage9365  3 роки тому +1

      Probably not the same. The 97 is in the second generation. So frame was a little bigger i believe and the 4.0l was a sohc, plus some actually came with the 5.0l. And the ranger.....I'm having a brain fart....90 or 91...haha 😄

      @@ibfgarage9365 The Explorer doesn't have a SOHC, so I believe it has a different package. And the Ranger should be the same model year as a 83 if I'm not wrong. So do you think I'll have any problems putting a 97 4.0 into a 83?
