  • This is a tear down of my Ford Ranger. The motor has 2 blown cylinders with the rest lacking in good compression as well.

    Allot of people dis the 2.9, but I've had a bunch and still daily drive one. The one I have now is bored 30over, running 4.0 injectors, 4.0 computer, egr delete, aftermarket heads, later model throttle body, you know, most the goodies. Fm146 Mitsubishi trans, 1350 tcase, 8.8 rear with 4.11s front and rear. Locked diffs. I beat the hell out of it. 2.5inch lift using f150 coils and leafs, 31s, just a tough and reliable buggy

    Put bolts back in parts and label everything with tape. Take lots of pictures. I just pulled the engine right away that way I can replace all the seals so I don't have any oil leaks, it drives me crazy.

    I have a 2.9v6 from 1990 bronco 2 what other issues did that year have

      David shoot I think they had that thing figured out by then. In 89 they recast they heads on the 2.9 to be thicker and better than the last ones

    Did your exhaust manifold bolts snap? If so where did you find new ones?

    • @adamsrestoration91
      @adamsrestoration91  2 роки тому

      No they did not but I put in grade 8. And I just matched them up with the grade 8 bolts from the hardware store

    How much was all of the machine work you had done? Also, What did you have done?
    Give me a list of it on here. I was given a quote for $300 for honing, boring, hot tanking, and full head rebuild/jobs.

    • @adamsrestoration91
      @adamsrestoration91  4 роки тому +1

      maddmaxx636 northwest motor and machine in Nampa did my work. I had the crank polished , the block bored .75 mm over, finish homes for plasma moly rings and line bored and hot tanked . If I remember right it cost me around 250$-300. They have a “package” that they do! Really knowledge people! And great work!!

      @@adamsrestoration91 Nice! I found shot down here in southern GA and the guy told me 300 bucks for all of that including getting the heads rebuilt and put together. I believe that's what he said included getting the heads put together.
      Ive got my tax returns money saved up for this build! I cant wait until either mid or late summer to do this! (It all depends on how the motor feels haha)

      @@adamsrestoration91 Any tips on rebuilding? Since youve done a few builds.

    • @adamsrestoration91
      @adamsrestoration91  4 роки тому +1

      maddmaxx636 just be thorough and take your time. Double check torque on everything. Break in the cam 20 minutes between 2200-2600 rpm. Then 500 miles on the rings before you beat on it depending on how it’s gonna be treated haha. If it’s a race engine then that’s different!!
