  • Finally we switch the big battery out of the MG and strap it under the Porsche. Not its final resting place, but good enough for a bit of testing. Welcome back to the next chapter of the ELECTRIC PORSCHE 928 EV8 project.
If you are enjoying our journey and are as keen as I am to see the EV Porsche on the road, then why not SUBSCRIBE so you can see episodes as they appear. Thanks for watching.

Lol. l thought you were joking when you said you were going to strap the battery underneath . Seriously though, it's great to see you work through the problems . lt will save the rest of us a lot of headaches in the future . Can't wait to see how you package the batteries.

Loved hearing the kookaburras in the background, miss that sound (we don't have them in NZ, but I do remember them from my time in Mandurah) :).

Nice work Stu. It’s coming together. Love the checking for bad earth connections- the bane of many 928 owner’s lives lol.

Yes once the MG electrics are working it's something I'll have to look at in the original 928 wiring as well - to fix my dim headlights, lazy wipers, dull globes.

Great stuff, Stu (and Matt, of course!). Was hoping you'd get it running this episode, but hopefully, next one's the one!

Incredibly complicated 🤯 What was that ad many years ago 'Electricity makes life easier' ?

Moving the MG was hilariously chaotic. Entertainment plus!

I see the problem. It's the nut that holds the wheel.

I laughed when you brought out the extinguisher, a deep swimming pool may be better🤣. Love your work & I find it fascinating, still not sure why you’re doing it but this project makes for great content👍

Even without glycol I thought there was very low risk of battery fire. I was thinking more of the 12V electrics, or possibly a HV short or overload somewhere in our new wiring outside the battery.

Hopefully that light at the end of the tunnel is the end of the tunnel and not a train coming the other way.

    Good progress Stu.
The high voltage battery will not activate unless the brake pedal is depressed prior to pressing the power on. But hopefully you are well past this given how quickly you are pumping these videos out.

Indeed. Thanks. When removed from its fitting the brake pedal switch defaults to a 'brake pressed' state, which you wouldn't expect. You have to push against the spring to be 'brake pedal up'. That's also why the start button goes green (START) instead of yellow (ACC) when I push it. Next video out later this week.

@@inCARnationAustralia I’m starting to be surprised that this car just didn’t start without anything in it with the way they allow it to go without the safety parts.
