This song is more along the lines of the Beastie Boys origin of starting off as a punk band. Definitely have many songs to react too from their hip hop days ( So Whatcha want, Sure Shot etc.. )
Reno 911 is the show you’re thinking of. I remember watching that show late at night as well. Great reaction by the way! It’s supposed to be a spoof of all stereotypical 70’s cop movies
Beastie Boys have been around since 1978 they were a punk rock band, Mike D added Ad Rock and MCA and changed the band to a hip hop group in 1983. They are literally generation 1.5 hip hop/rap group. They have influenced pretty much everyone since. They are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Ad Rock discovered LL Cool J. Beastie Boys, Run DMC, and a metal band Slayer were the three original groups under Def Jam records. They are from NYC, added this because some other dude kept saying they were from the suburbs for some reason...
Prepare yourself! You just found the best hip hop group in history. Seriously. A great reaction! I can’t wait to see you do more. Expect a lot of views. :)
The Beastie Boys are great, but I would definitely not say that they are "the best hip-hop group in history." Hip-hop was founded by Black people, and except for the Beastie Boys and a few others, most of the best rappers and groups are Black. I'm not being prejudiced against White people. I am one. I'm just being truthful about the music and its history. Run-DMC, Erik B & Rakim, Public Enemy, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, The Roots, and so many others are at least as good as the Beastie Boys, if not better.
@@christianman73 I recognize that it’s opinion. However, here’s a link that outlines some very good arguments on why the Beastie Boys are the greatest group of all time. Worth a watch even if you don’t agree with it. ua-cam.com/video/XTcJ9groRo8/v-deo.html
@@PixelPro-4000 Thanks for the video. I watched it, and it made some good arguments. To be clear, I'm a Beastie Boys fan. I've loved them for most of the years (well over three decades) that I have been listening to hip-hop. At the same time, I don't know of any Black hip-hop fans, who have been deep in the scene and the community for decades, other than the one man in this video, who think that the Beastie Boys are "the greatest hip-hop group in history." In my experience, his opinion is an extreme outlier among Black hip-hop fans. A lot of White people do think of the Beastie Boys as the greatest hip-hop group in history, but in my experience, as a White hip-hop fan myself, many of those fans don't really have a long history of listening to hip-hop going back to the late '70s and through the '80s and early '90s, when some of the most revolutionary, pioneering hip-hop was being made by artists such as Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Erik B and Rakim, Public Enemy, and so many others. Again, don't get me wrong, the Beastie Boys are great, but to me, saying that they are "the greatest hip-hop group in history" is like saying that Hall & Oates (a great, "blue-eyed soul/R & B" group which I do love!) are greater than The Temptations or The Four Tops. Hall & Oates, themselves, would very strongly disagree with that opinion, as would most Black fans of soul and R & B whom I have ever heard talk about their love for these genres. Hall & Oates are very respected and enjoyed among some serious, longtime lovers of soul and R & B who are Black. Better than The Temptations though? Not a common opinion, except among some White fans.
I saw The Beastie Boys opening for RUN-DMC in 1987. I thought these "bratty frat punks" would be a flash in the pan, but I have never been more wrong in my life. (They went on to greatness).
Beastie Boys: first rap act to top the US Billboard Chart, with Licence to Ill. Without Beastie Boys, LL Cool J wouldn’t have been signed to Def Jam. Beastie Boys, an act who weren’t afraid to keep one foot in the world of their hardcore punk roots & the other in a world of experimentation & paying homage to their influences. I’m so glad I got to see them live (Reading ‘98, In The Round in Manchester, Live Earth, Hot Sauce Committee Tour at Brixton). Wish I’d been lucky enough to catch their tour as the band ‘Quasar’ when they played a full hardcore punk set.
You really need to check out: Three MCs And One DJ (Official Music Video) Paul Revere (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party) (Official Music Video)
So when this video came out MTV was only showing music videos 24 7. Artists were spending millions making these videos. Beastie boys were like yeah no we’re going to spend as little as possible.
Beastie Boys are legendary. If you want a real taste of their old school rap abilities, react to Paul Revere or No Sleep Till Brooklyn. Intergalactic is another good one for their later stuff in the 90’s. Since they started out as a punk rock band, they were heavily influenced by some all-time great rock bands like Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. 🤘

this song was also part of the opening song to start trek when jim kirk was a boy and stole his step dads car..its also been in a few other films. beastie boys is famous for having near 1 track of every album theyve released as being part of a movie sound track more than any other rap or hip hop artist on the planet. there are other independents that have a lot of songs or whatever but overall i do believe this statistic to be true id have to look it up, Enya is another artist with numerous songs as part of movie sound tracks.
Intergalactic is another one to try. I second everyone on 3 MCs and One DJ. Beasties are a deep rabbit hole. Love your reactions. Sabatoge is like old TV cops show i.e Streets of San Francisco.
Beastie Boys were 3 Jewish guys from NYC who helped create the rap scene in the 80’s, they inspired many rappers including LL Cool J, Eminem, and many others. They played their own instruments and were highly respected by many rappers and celebrities. Their music videos are usually goofy.
🤣 look how loose his pants were running down the stairs🤣 that was 10 years before it was in style. Beastie Boys were ahead of their time in every aspect of the phrase.
Great Song. Back about 12-13 years ago my friends and I had a Rock Band (using the video game) called ABHA (Asshole Broke His Arm) which is a line in one of our favorite movies, That Thing You Do. We “performed” this song as our own Super Bowl halftime show live from my Family Room. We rocked the place. I’ve been a Beastie Boys fan as long as I can remember. Some other greats by them are “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” .. “Fight For Your Right To PARTY” .. “Intergalactic” .. “An Open Letter To NYC” .. and “Sure Shot”
Two things to look for in Beastie Boys videos: Someone getting punched in the stomach, a stunt dummy thrown through the air. They're not in all of them, but they're recurring elements.

Beastie Boys are my favorite group of all time, enjoy them, so many classics! Maybe start from the beginning with the hits Intergalactic is a great place to start! My intro to the beasties was shake your rump. And when I went to a goth type club years later I won like a bunch of drinks cos I was first on the dance floor and knew the words haha
If you feel like slowing things down, zoning out to the music, and love the instrumentalists, try "Drift Away - Dobie Gray". If you want to amp it up again check out Sammy Hagar- Heavy Metal, or if you want to go old school (1971) check out Three Dog Night - Never Been To Spain

So much more Beastie Boys you can do! You should try So What’cha Want next

Lot of this was shot on the fly. They were making it up as they went along. Video was directed by Spike Jonze who produced Jackass.
