Hi John, we just used a very simple, homemade, weighted sled for the GoPro. It took a few takes to get the angle right since we didn't have live view, but once set we just let it run. We have a few new ideas brewing for the upcoming ice season, tho ..Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching and commenting afroballer. We generally keep a handful for a meal and release the rest. And you're right about the taste - in my opinion they are one of the best tasting fresh water fish.
Thanks again for the feedback. If you watch our latest downrigging salmon video you will see some brief underwater footage taken from the cannonball looking back at the flasher/fly. In order to get clear footage we not only need the flat lens, but also had to have the bait no further than 3 feet from the camera - closer than we were used to running it. At 100 feet without lights the water and everything in it is green, not much can be done about that!
Thanks for the reply. I was shooting some lures stuff in Lake Biwa in Japan and the water there is very green. If the lure was too far the image was cloudy. I hear the flat lens is the way to go. I want to try the flat lens. Keep up the great filming.
We are now using the Backscatter glass lens and have not tried the red or magenta filters yet. The Backscatter housings are threaded to accommodate 55mm filters
Thanks for watching. The camera is very versatile. Take a look at our latest Chinook video to see how we used 8 of them on the new wireless controllers plus our Canons.
Good movie. Please let us know what version of GoPro2 did you use. I am looking to buy a GoPro2 and I would really want to associate the quality of thsi video with a version of GoPro2. Thanks a lot !!!
I understand there is inherent BLURR underwater with the stock lens case, and I see you mentioned you used a FLAT LENS, I see so many of these on the market, what one did you use? Have you tried the RED FILTER FLAT LENSES?
Using a smaller fish (minnow) to catch a bigger fish (perch-perfectly edible fish) is not torture at all... All in good sport right? Great HD video though just wondering why catch and release?
nice! you must be using a flat lens housing to get nice sharp underwater footage. what are you mounting your gopro on for the near the bottom footage? I had some sucess filming under the ice this year, check out my channel!
cool video man... we put up some cool icefishing videos using tip ups here in Upper Michigan and caught some nice pike, check us out and let us no what you think...
I really liked this-happened upon it by accident. The music is lovely... and I'm glad you put those guys back :-)
These are the best underwater fishing videos! !!!

Thanks for watching and commenting josh. We're looking forward to doing it again in 6 months!
Thanks, we're using the GoPro flat lens on a few of the cameras now. Nice solid setup and the lens cap is a great feature.

Beautiful scene perch. I like filming them! Greetings from Poland.
Awesome vid mate, I haven't thought about using gopro for that. Thanks for idea!
Thanks Toolmybass - This was shot using a bunch of GoPro 2's. Glad you enjoyed it.
Fantastic video. Man those perch are slow in the winter.

@MTbucket1 Nice videos! Yes, flat lens housing mounted on a homemade sled and lowered on downrigger cable.
@Aaron16 So were we! 150lb downrigger cable does the trick nicely, tho!
HAHAHA!!! God, I love fish and fishing! Nice vid.
Awesome footage! I'm excited to catch some perch on simcoe! I'm going in june
Awesome video!
Great footage. 👍👋 Made you a friend
Great video footage. Looks like a GoProHero2 is a go for my next camera.
Might be earlier this year rainy78! Last year was a very late start to the season - this year is looking much better.
Great work. I just got my gopro hero 2. Do you use a special lens? Have you tried the new Gopro flat underwater lens?
What editing software did you use? Excellent video!
Thanks for watching. The camera is very versatile. Take a look at our latest Chinook video to see how we used 8 of them on the new wireless controllers plus our Canons.

Any chance of seeing images of the sled? this sounds like a great way to get come cool shots.
What kind/model of camera is this....great footage!
Could you post a video showing how you rigged your camera up? also how did you know your camera was pointed at your bait? Again awesome videos
I have always hooked my minnows trough the back/tail so they can swim around and wiggle. That has always worked well for jigging like this.
ya I will agree with you about the zebra mussel, but there are tons of perch

Thanks for the comment! The editing was all done using Final Cut Pro with Color and Motion. Glad you enjoyed it!
How did you get the gopro to sit on bottom? did you rig up something for it to stay there? this interests me for this upcoming ice fishing season....
some nice catches
nice would like to see more for the 2013 season for sure!
wow these are so calm.
Using a smaller fish (minnow) to catch a bigger fish (perch-perfectly edible fish) is not torture at all... All in good sport right? Great HD video though just wondering why catch and release?
Amazing job : )
This was just a stock GoPro 2 with Dive Housing. We're using GoPro, GoPro2 and GoPro3's now.
That was amazing!
excellent video! truly well done. If I were you i would be using little atom nuggies to make those sniffers hit the lure.
This was all shot using a pair of GoPro Hero2's. Thanks.
beautiful video :)
February a good time for lake simcoe to ice fish I take it then? Ill go in February if thats the case :-)
That's a huge perch!
How did you rig up these cameras? I'm afraid of losing mine.
What camera were you using?
In England i have seen people use roach the size of the fish in the video to catch perch :O
How did you get the camera back?
Virginia Beach area just off the ice road.
PERCH THEY BE SHARKS IN FRESH WATER -LONG LIVE THE PERCH

Thanks for watching and commenting!
what area
awesome
Perch are the one of a few knowen natural enemy of zebra muscles leave them alown
They don't fight much...
Nice video but lure is twice as big as the perch, lol.
I might have spoken too soon ..
Mooie baarse
Those weren’t jumbos!!
Fish have little to no feeling in there lips. Catching it isn't torturing it.
cool video man... we put up some cool icefishing videos using tip ups here in Upper Michigan and caught some nice pike, check us out and let us no what you think...
Great video!! if you ever have the time wed love to have you like MYFCoutoors on facebook or follow us on twitter!
-not as enjoyable when you catch one, because it happens so often
cuz you're a fish right...
Are you mental?? When was catch and release torturing? Lets remember you're letting it survive.
Why catch and release torturing the fish? Just eat them they taste great!
I hate perch fishing, it's
