That was the best detailed information about how to drain hybrid electric water heater.

Great video, very helpful I just did mine and it all worked perfectly.

Thanks for the video. Why do we have to empty the tank (cutting off water) instead of just letting the water run, for let's say, 10 minutes? It would flush the sediments without filling the air into it.

You can do that. I call it power flushing. Works well on heaters that are maintained well. Quick power flush per year and you’ll be fine

Do you feel a need to change the anode rod to a power rod instead where you have hard water issues

@@bertpainter8385 hard water is not aggressive at all if you have soft water then yeah you could definitely swap over to a different type of android. I chicken change and rods all the time that are 3- 4- 5 years old on hard water and the sediment inside of the tank is excessive, but the rods look almost new

@@rickpowell1402 Sounds good. Just drained and pulled the bottom heating element and look inside. NO issues so far. Only 3 years old but this was the 1st flush. My original question for in reference to my buddy's water heater where we had to change it 3 times, every 2.5 to 3 years. Finally put in a water softner on the last swap. See if that works. For some reason when I had my furnace coils cleaned out by a local business who did my neighbors coils too I had nothing much he said, whereas my neighbor needs there's cleaned out every other year. The guy said he sees that in my town for whatever reason. Oh btw I closed off my coil for hot water due to the oil expense a few years back and installed a high efficiency Rheem hybrid. So far so good. After I had the updated sensors installed under warrantee. The say replacing the anode on this on is a bitch to get too. So I'll wait. Seems I don't get much build up. Wish I knew why one house does and the next doesn't

@@bertpainter8385 I have a video on here to change the anode rod on the hybrid. As far as why one house would have a different outcome than another depends on the usage, water quality, and sometimes that could be dependent on if you’re on a well if you have city water service, the water conditioning equipment, sometimes make a difference.

@@rickpowell1402 Not to drag this on, but now I'm curious. I had never cleaned my furnace coils before that one time. It was over 15 years. The neighbors house who get's them cleaned every other year was fairly new many 5 years or so. We both have city water. My home was built in 1950 and still has the main galvanized water lines in the crawl space. Always wondered if the galvanize process has anything to do with it. I was thinking to get rid of those pipes for pex lines instead.

I don't have a visible drain valve at the location where I connected the hose (very similar to yours but no valve to unscrew).

Thanks for the video. You also turned off the wrong breaker. Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

I thought this particular tank was self cleaning?

Dissolved solids will still solidify and accumulate, some areas are worse than others and this will also depend on water treatment .

Who the heck did that electrical?

I'm glad you noticed. sometimes these set ups are for demo purposes and maybe far from code compliance to offer function to make videos. I think it has been corrected since by an electrician with a quick disconnect box. Or at least I hope :)
