There are people shitting on Daryl's vocals? Wow... I was a singer in a touring band back in the day and I've gotta say that as someone who actually understands technique, this man is GODLY. Very raw, yes, but his style is completely unique and captivating.

To be honest, I didn’t even know he was the vocalist in Head Automatica until rediscovered Glassjaw.
What a highly underrated band, just the sheer raw aggression in the sound is what really drew me in next to this music video that I discovered on MTV. The music video itself really captured what NY hardcore is about! Talk about a blast from the past!

New York's hottest new video from 2002 is Cosmopolitan Blood Loss, by Long Island music group, GlassJAw. This video has everything. Creepy indie actors walking with purposeful gaits, stylish young people playing music instruments who mostly face away from the camera filiming them, tailored suits, a transcendent bridge, and an awkward ending.

I'm the kind of guy who obsesses over one band for years on end. Right now I'm "gay" for anything Josh Homme and I need a new band before I get sick of him. He inspires my playing more than anyone...except maybe Omar's approach to playing. I want to start a grungy psychedelic band so bad! haha

+Scruffy Basterd Grunge pyschedelic just reminds me of "Title Fight - head in the ceeling fan", La dispute is also a great post hardcore band (even though these bands are more recent so they sound a little different, but def are influenced by ATDI and GJ). Pianos become the teeth - I'll be damned is also a great post hardcore song. Then i'd put The sound of animals fighting, Dance gavin Dance and Circa Survive (they're bring more things to the mix). Yeah man Josh Homme is pretty sick, the last QOTSA is awesome!

My band (Grid) played with Glassjaw, Tripface, Silent Majority, Vision of Disorder, Mind over Matter, Neglect, Warped Weeble Wobbles, Berzerkers, Loyal to None and so many other great bands (not forgetting anyone on purpose)... • @levisorenson7873
      @levisorenson7873 29 днів тому

@James-if3kc That album excellently captures a moment in time when someone had suffered physically and psychologically at a fairly young age, and dumped it out in a very raw, unfiltered way. I can imagine it was pretty cathartic.
However, I wouldn't expect or want for him to continue carrying that kind of energy around with him for the rest of his career.
It's a great work of expressive art and music and I don't think they should be ashamed of it. But if he feels remorse for some of the things he said, it's not my place to tell him he shouldn't apologize for it.
It's still my favorite album from them, but I'm not surprised they never put anything out like that again. I appreciate it for what it is, but I'm glad he's not carrying that pain and anger around with him two decades later.

    Many ways
    Many days
    Many faces down the line
When people whisper it makes her nervous
    It's you from the airport
    Addressing most littlest
In several days I just might prove worth it
    So after all, after all
    They let you decide
    After all, after all
    They let you decide
    Anyways
    Anyway
    Walk the wire, wonder why
When people whisper it makes her nervous
And its you from the airport
    Addressing most littlest
Several days too late to unearth it
    So after all, after all
    They let you decide
    After all, after all
    They let you decide
We are the most impassioned ugly people
    Ugly people
    Ugly people, say
We are the most impassioned ugly people
    Ugly people
    Ugly people, say
    After all, after all
    They let you decide
    After all, after all
    They let you decide
    Yeah!
    After all, after all
    They let you decide
    After all, after all
    They let you decide
